I had plenty of ideas for where I would end up on my draft night. My mentors had given me a decent idea of which teams were probably interested in me as a user, and some that were needy at the position. With the expansion draft adding fresh holes to DCs across the league, it seemed even more likely that I could be taken in 3rd round by a number of the teams that had been mentioned to me. Also, worth noting, is that I was scouted by all but 3 teams. I don’t say that to say I was upset and should’ve been scouted by everyone. Not at all. Our draft class was massive, so it made sense to me that not every team would reach out, either due to lack of time, interest, or both. But, what I didn’t expect is that one of the teams that didn’t reach out, was the team that ended up taking me! When San Jose was on the clock in the 3rd round, my radar was completely off. Some of the higher TPE Linebackers were off the board, but I didn’t know much about their depth at the position, therefore didn’t think anything of it. When they announced my name, I was shocked and definitely excited. I don’t spend much time at all outside of my own team’s LR, so I was eager to get into my new NSFL home. They were quite receptive, and I’m more than happy to call SJS home for the foreseeable future. #ClawsOut
Doug Howlett was a max earner that was overlooked for multiple reasons one being his new face in the league. Being a new addition to sim leagues and unsure if this was going to be a worthy investment it is understandable to have had Doug lower on draft boards as well as his inability in willing to switch positions it cornered the receiver in a hard position.
In his first season in the DSFL he spent his time behind the #1 WR in the league and in Tijuana, Fred Vequain. He was also competing for touches with the fantastic J.Kingston but still managed to break top 5 in eligible draftees in stats for wide receiver at the end of the season. Unfortunately, Doug Howlett was also entering a draft with 10~ fantastic options at the receiver position in what is already an occupied role throughout the NSFL aside from a handful of teams. Howlett was eventually drafted in the third round at selection 8 by the Baltimore Hawks. Considering all things, including Howletts involvement in the league, earnings and TPE it is a fair draft position. IF YOU"RE AN IDIOT? What a heckkken steal by Baltimore. A max earning receiver, willing to spend a couple extra seasons in the DSFL if need be and opted for low deals? That's an early/mid third round selection right there. Baltimore got a steal in Howlett and even though they're stacked at receivers right now in Kaepercolin, Kross and Quinn, he will be at 500~ TPE by the time he gets called up becoming an instant contributor to the Hawks receiving core. ![]()
It was NSFL draft day for Bruce Buckley and it was a great day for Bruce Buckley, he was still celebrating his Ultimini championship with the Myrtle Beach Buccaneers as draft day was approaching. There was a draft day party which also coincided with championship celebrations since they lasted a full month and may have resulted in the poor season the following year in Myrtle Beach.
It was now draft day and the atmosphere was rife with anticipation, excitement and nervous energy. People like Brandon Booker, Johnny Hellzapoppin, Heath Evans, Troen Egghands, Cuco Clemente and James Angler from the championship team were around all eager to get their name called on the big stage. Buckley had 2 goals for himself on this day which was to be one of the top lineman drafted and go to a supporting team in the end. The draft went on and he watched his teammates get drafted one by one, Booker went to Philadelphia, Hellzapoppin went to Yellowknife, Evans went to Arizona, Egghands went to Austin and Clemente went to new expansion team in Sarasota. All of Buckley’s friends had left the aprty and they got whisked away to their new facilities and to their draft parties. Buckley was almost alone when the Arizona Outlaws with the 39th pick went on the clock… ![]()
Ah the draft. For the purposes of this exercise I'll focus on my DSFL Draft, as I had a pretty good idea of where I was going for the NSFL Draft.
The weeks leading up to the DSFL were incredibly stressful for me. I had several teams who had expressed real interest in me, and I was really focused on going to the right one. Dallas had the second overall pick, and I knew they were interested and might take me there. Likewise, Tijuana had the fourth overall pick and having been a waiver pickup for them the season prior I was pretty confident they'd consider me there as well. What I never expected was the team with the first overall pick to consider me, London. I had several conversations with one of their scouts, but felt I couldn't be on their radar given the large amount of really good recreates in our draft class. I had even had a GM suggest I temper my expectations for the draft given how many other previous and current GMs were in the draft. Regardless on the night of the draft, the stream began and Bex announced with the first overall pick London selected Greedy Sly. I was shocked. I was immediately welcomed in to the London locker room, and haven't left since. While it was a surprise, it was easily the best outcome for me, and I can't imagine being anywhere else! ![]() ![]() ![]() Word Count: 238
Well, it is easy to talk about the draft for me considering it did not happen too long ago and I was only apart of one of them on this site. I was unfortuntately a late bloomer in this league and joined extremely late, pretty much on the cut off between being the youngest person in the Season 22 draft and having less chances for TPE opportunity or being the oldest in the S23 draft and being able to get a lot more TPE and be in the DSFL a full season and all that stuff. Well I stuck with Season 22 because my player had already been created and was too lazy to switch
Going into the NSFL draft was fun because I was not a recreate and did not know where I was going to go really. A lot of GMs had told me like you are going to go pretty late in their opinion, and my mind had me going around the end of the 6th round and beginning of the 7th. Lucky enough, the Outlaws were the first team to jump on me and took me in the 5th round with the 4th pick. I remember that moment when my picture came up on stream and I had 105 TPE and no stats and everyone was like what? No one knew me so it was funny to see, but the SHL guys that recognized me were all shocked to see that I had joined the NSFL and did not even know that I was in the league. Zamir Kehla was still available and everyone was kind of saying, especially Zamir, that they screwed up by taking a no name when he was still available. Well, he still ended up being on my team and even became a pro bowler so can not complain about that. I will not be getting drafted here for a while and I know that the next player I make, I will be going a little higher than Claude Miller II did. Hopefully, I get to experience the DSFL draft with as much excitement as I did the NSFL one ![]()
Looking back to my draft season it was a decent season that said there is no way I should have been the second ever taken the board when there was no doubt I was the best person to take at that spot colorado Yeti did a very good job with that pick however I bet there are other teams that doubt their drafting ability seeing as i am the only kicker that has won a title from that draft class. I absolutely should have been taken earlier and that draft and there is no doubt that I will be the best kicker that the Colorado Yeti have ever had and one of the best kickers that the league has ever seen. This season so far I have only missed one kick and that kick was more or less meaning Less in the scope of the game proving that I once again will be the best kicker this season in the league and I will be snubbed for an award as is typical of this terrible Awards committee. If we were to redraft in this year's draft there is no doubt I would be taken early in the draft probably in the first round once teams realized how important having and elite kicker is

I'm gonna go way back for this one. The S9 NSFL Draft was my first one in this league, and it was an exciting time. I had one of the top prospects in terms of TPE and needed positions at LB. I'd decided to follow in 127415 from a different league to try this one out, made Kolby Deringer, and I got pretty invested quick, especially with how my guy wrecked shop in his first DSFL season. I was pretty pumped with him as a potential #1 pick.
Being honest, at the time, I wasn't terribly inclined to the idea of going to a rebuilding team like San Jose, though I knew there was a good chance they would take me as they owned the 1OA and 4OA picks. I'd go through the pieces on NSFL Media and have a look through their projected draft ranks and relished in the thoughts of going 1OA. I had already been hyped up after living up to being the 10OA pick in the S8 DSFL Draft, and was stoked on the thought of being a franchise cornerstone. When the SaberCats called me in, I was still plenty happy with going 4th. They probably wanted me to slot in right away, though at the time, I thought I'd enjoy the DSFL while I could. That changed the second time around with Rando. Looking back on Deringer's career, that night helped set him up for a great career. He'd win Defensive Rookie of the Year in S10, go to several Pro Bowls, win an Ultimus as a pillar of a killer defense and get named Ultimus Defensinve Player of the Game in the Ultimus we otherwise don't talk about in Northern California. In the coming days, I hope that parlays to a Hall of Fame election. (301) [OPTION]S27: 16 GP | 164 Att, 675 Yds, 8 TD | 35 Rec, 234 Yds, | 22 PC, 3 SA

Code: Written Option: There’s no time like the draft, both for the exciting build up beforehand and for the gamut of emotions afterwards. Reflect back on a previous DSFL or NSFL draft of your choice. In 200 words or more, go through your own experience that day. Were you expecting to go high, or to any particular team? Did you end up shocked by your draft position, good or bad? Tell us how that draft has impacted your player. If you haven’t been drafted, reflect instead on your college choices. So for Corvo draft I knew ahead of time that I was going in the top 2. Two teams who really needed to pick up their QB of the future in Baltimore and Yellowknife had the first two picks. Yellowknife having the first overall pick and Baltimore the second overall. So heading into the draft with that knowledge was exciting, but also took a bit away from the suprise factor of a draft. Coming into the draft I high key had a feeling, Yellowknife would end up going with Cooter Bigby, a player from user timeconsumer who is overall a great member to have and who brings a ton to the table as a user. We were both invited into the LR to see if there was a click and truth be told, I kinda really wanted to go to Baltimore, despite being open to Yellowknife aswell. So in the end I think YKW noticed this aswell and they went with Cooter. Which at the end of the day meant I got to go to Baltimore, which was my primo draft location and it all worked out. Had I wanted to be a first overall pick? Sure who doesnt, but I was happy non the less. The draft is a magical time and easily the best moment in a player career I would argue. |
