Agent Tesla: Hello and good time appropriate greeting dear readers of the National Simulation Football League! I am here today to introduce the second installment of Agent Tesla's National Simulation Football League Week in Review! Now this is the second installment, but we are still not entirely sure what we are doing here. So please join us for this exciting journey as we work to discover what to do in these articles. Joining me today is my client in the National Simulation Football League and starting defensive tackle for the New Orleans Second Line Magnus Rikiya!
Magnus Rikiya: Hello everyone! Thank you for having me.
Agent Tesla: Also joining us is a representative of the sim itself, but since they refuse to introduce themselves we will just have them show what they bring to the table. So show us our big game please Sim Rep!
Sim Rep: Week Five New Orleans at Orange County Otters. Otters put up ten, zero, fourteen, and three for a final score of twenty-seven. Second Line put up seven, zero, zero, and zero for a final score of seven. Orange County over New Orleans twenty-seven to seven.
Agent Tesla: Let's just move right into offensive player of the game shall we?
Magnus Rikiya: Sounds good.
Agent Tesla: Offensive player of the game please Sim Rep!
Sim Rep: Offensive player of the game is quarterback Franklin Armstrong of the Orange County Otters. 15 of 25 on pass attempts for 235 yards, 3 touchdowns, 1 interception, 9 rushing attempts for 75 yards, an average run of 8.3 yards, and a long of 32 yards.
Agent Tesla: No argument from me there as he was able to make his presence known early with a nineteen yard touchdown pass in the first quarter. He really turned it up in the second half though with a thirty-two yard run as part of the first drive that ended in a twenty-seven yard touchdown pass to Phillips. Also added a twenty-eight yard touchdown pass towards the end of the third quarter as well.
Magnus Rikiya: Franklin Armstrong absolutely deserves this as he is just monstrously good at the game of football. I will say here though that I will celebrate the fact that I managed to sack him on a third down in the second quarter to force a punt. We only managed to hold him off the board for that one quarter, but against such a good player I can celebrate that.
Agent Tesla: Completely fair and understandable. Now Sim Rep tell us who the sim awarded defensive player of the game please!
Sim Rep: Defensive player of the game is defensive end Lanzer Grievous of the Orange County Otters. 7 tackles and 2 sacks.
Agent Tesla: Now this is one that I have to disagree with as Lanzer Grievous had a good game, but I think someone else had a better game. Grievous' six yard sack in the first quarter and six yard sack in the fourth quarter both deserve credit, however there is a bigger play that is more worthy in my book.
Magnus Rikiya: I am inclined to agree with you, but let you explain who we think deserves it.
Agent Tesla: Cornerback Kacey Dream of the Orange County Otters had a stat line of six tackles, one forced fumble, three passes defended, and an interception. That is comparable tackles, and about a takeaway per sack depending on how you judge a forced fumble. Then the three passes defended on top of it make it clear that Dream had a delightful game.
Magnus Rikiya: I prefer defensive line play for understandable reasons, however I have to agree that Dream deserves it more here in my book. The forced fumble was recovered by the Orange County Otters and so that is two takeaways to two sacks which is undeniably worth more. Plus the passes defended really tip the scales for me.
Agent Tesla: Glad we can agree. Now for the segment of our show that we get to carry over from our series last season. Which for those who do not know is where my client Magnus Rikiya tells us all about who he swapped jerseys with after the game. Who did you get to swap jerseys with this time Magnus?
Magnus Rikiya: Since this was going to be my last opportunity I asked the legendary Thorian Skarsgard to swap jerseys with me after the game. They were nice about the whole thing and I am so happy to get to add another jersey from a great defensive tackle. Two time defensive line of the year, six time pro bowler, and sixth all time in sacks. I am in just my second season in the league and so I thank him for the opportunity.
Agent Tesla: I will second the thanks as it is appreciated receiving such a nicety from a player who may just make the hall of fame someday. Now with the New Orleans game out of the way tell us how the rest of the week went Sim Rep!
Sim Rep: Sarasota Sailfish at Baltimore Hawks. Baltimore Hawks put up 40 over the Sarasota Sailfish 7. Offensive player of the game is running back Apollo Reed of the Baltimore Hawks. Defensive player of the game is free safety Jamie Nkiah of the Sarasota Sailfish.
Philadelphia Liberty at Yellowknife Wraiths. Yellowknife Wraiths put up 24 over the Philadelphia Liberty 23. Offensive player of the game is quarterback Brock Phoenix of the Philadelphia Liberty. Defensive player of the game is cornerback Mervin Leonard of the Yellowknife Wraiths.
Colorado Yeti at Chicago Butchers. Colorado Yeti put up 20 over the Chicago Butchers 3. Offensive player of the game is quarterback Wolfie McDummy of the Colorado Yeti. Defensive player of the game is linebacker Mo Berry of the Colorado Yeti.
Austin Copperheads at San Jose Sabercats. Austin Copperheads put up 35 over the San Jose Sabercats 12. Offensive player of the game is running back Kichwa Jones of the Austin Copperheads. Defensive player of the game is defensive end Kyle Idlewyld of the Austin Copperheads.
Arizona Outlaws at Honolulu Hahalua. Arizona Outlaws put up 36 over the Honolulu Hahalua 12. Offensive player of the game is quarterback Jay Cue of the Arizona Outlaws. Defensive player of the game is defensive end Logan Noble Jr of the Honolulu Hahalua.
Agent Tesla: Seeing this genuinely makes me feel better about New Orleans' game Magnus. How about you?
Magnus Rikiya: Strong agree there.
Agent Tesla: Only one game was decided by a single score this week between the Philadelphia Liberty and the Yellowknife Wraiths. The next closest score was a three score difference between the Colorado Yeti and Chicago Butchers. So the New Orleans Second Line and Orange County Otters twenty point game was the third closest of the week. Not going to spend much time on this and just say that the sim is a chaotic evil entity. Now tell us about New Orleans' next game please Sim Rep!
Sim Rep: Week Six New Orleans Second Line at Philadelphia Liberty. Liberty put up fourteen, three, zero, and seven for a final score of twenty-four. Second Line put up seven, seven, zero, and seven for a final score of twenty-one. Philadelphia over New Orleans twenty-four to twenty-one.
Agent Tesla: After that fourth quarter comeback win earlier you would have loved to see this game go into overtime, but the Philadelphia Liberty finished out strong to get the win.
Magnus Rikiya: I have to admit here that I have a lot of friends and former teammates on the Philadelphia Liberty. So if I am going to be completely honest if New Orleans has to lose a game there is no team that I would rather lose to in this league. Although at least partially since they are not in our conference. Now having said that I hope we get to have a rematch this season and that we manage to win it at home.
Agent Tesla: Well said! Now tell us about the offensive player of the game Sim Rep!
Sim Rep: Offensive player of the game is running back Marcella Tōriki of the New Orleans Second Line. 27 rushing attempts for 112 yards, an average run of 4.1 yards, a long of 11 yards, 4 receptions for 47 yards, an average of 11.8 yards, a long of 32 yards, and 1 touchdown.
Agent Tesla: One of my favorite teammates of yours as a proud supporter of girl gang gang, and now the primary back of the New Orleans Second Line. Despite having lost the game I can comfortably say she deserves the award here given how much more balanced Philadelphia's offense was compared to New Orleans. From her thirty-two yard touchdown reception in the first quarter, her long eleven yard run in the second quarter, and all the way to her stretch of twenty-one yards over four runs in the fourth quarter. She gave it her all and I would say she is not at all to blame for the loss.
Magnus Rikiya; Honestly looking at it I cannot blame anyone for this loss, but I will get into that a bit more later. Marcella was magnificent throughout the game though and I am perfectly happy handing her the award.
Agent Tesla: We are all in agreement then. So tell us about the defensive player of the game Sim Rep!
Sim Rep: Defensive player of the game is strong safety Wesley Eriksen of the Philadelphia Liberty. 11 tackles and 2 sacks.
Agent Tesla: Now this is a bit of a tough one, but I will leave the tough part to my client. Wesley definitely played a great game from their first seven yard sack in the first quarter that led to a turnover on downs due to a coaching error, through their seven yard sack in the second quarter that led to a punt, and all the way to the last tackle of the game that finished off what was left of the clock. Great job by Wesley Eriksen and as a supporter of his from his time in the Developmental Simulation Football League I can say I am quite proud of how far he has come.
Magnus Rikiya: I am going to give it to him as I have no good case for anyone else. Definitely had a great game and deserves the recognition. I just want to also highlight his counterpart Matt Cross who had 14 tackles and a pass defended. The two of them always seemed to make a tackle before the line to gain and so many times where we could have gotten things into a good position they were the ones to ruin it for us. That is why if I am going to blame New Orleans loss on anyone it is these two having great games.
Agent Tesla: Incredibly rude of them to have two great games against one of their favorite former teammates, however I will not hold it against them too much given circumstances. So with that out of the way will you tell us who you swapped jerseys with after the game?
Magnus Rikiya: I swapped jerseys with two players in fact as I could not make up my mind on who to ask between the two of them. So I wore a different jersey for each half and swapped with both Matt Cross and Wesley Eriksen. I have said this about them back in the day and will continue to say it as long as they are together; the best safety duo in the league. Honestly I had zero doubt in my mind that they would say yes to the swap, but I am still thankful that they were kind enough to agree.
Agent Tesla; I will also say I am thankful to them for agreeing, although I think they owed us it after so rudely beating the Second Line. Any other fun tales to share about the swap?
Magnus Rikiya: Not that I want to share with the public, but I am thankful we went with our old post game ritual. We are all still Seawolves even if we are on different teams now. My swap went well, however I know you also attempted something similar that we should tell our readers about so tell us about it Tesla.
Agent Tesla: Indeed I did! Now for those who do not know the history of the league; the Philadelphia Liberty had the pleasure of one of the best quarterbacks in league history in Adriana Falconi. Now I would want her jersey regardless given standard reasoning, however she also still holds the record for longest run by a quarterback to my knowledge at 84 yards. That was an outlier of a run for her, but I do not care in the slightest as it was still a respectable run.
Since I found out that she occasionally attends Liberty home games I sent her a request that she bring one of her jerseys to the game for me. I made a trade for it the exact details of which will be kept secret for privacy reasons, but she did give me the jersey after the game. Which means I can now say that I have a game jersey of Adriana Falconi.
Magnus Rikiya: With the biggest asterisk in the world attached to it sure.
Agent Tesla: She had it for a game and thus technically speaking it is is a game jersey of Adriana Falconi. I readily admit it would immoral and unethical to sell it as a game jersey. However it is now a prized possession of mine and I intend to keep it until the end of days. Thank you Adriana Falconi for going above and beyond for me there. I quite appreciate it. Now for the rest of the games of the week please Sim Rep!
Sim Rep: Orange County Otters at Yellowknife Wraiths. Orange County Otters put up 33 over the Yellowknife Wraiths 30. Offensive player of the game is quarterback Franklin Armstrong of the Orange County Otters. Defensive player of the game is linebacker Douglas Quaid of the Yellowknife Wraiths.
San Jose Sabercats at Colorado Yeti. Colorado Yeti put up 37 over the San Jose Sabercats 10. Offensive player of the game is quarterback Wolfie McDummy of the Colorado Yeti. Defensive player of the game is defensive tackle Bubba Thumper of the Colorado Yeti.
Chicago Butchers at Austin Copperheads. Austin Copperheads put up 30 over the Chicago Butchers 16. Offensive player of the game is quarterback Easton Cole of the Austin Copperheads. Defensive player of the game is linebacker Honda Edmond of the Austin Copperheads.
Baltimore Hawks at Arizona Outlaws. Arizona Outlaws put up 21 over the Baltimore Hawks 14. Offensive player of the game is quarterback Jay Cue of the Arizona Outlaws. Defensive player of the game is linebacker Galf Wilf of the Arizona Outlaws.
Honolulu Hahalua at Sarasota Sailfish. Sarsota Sailfish put up 23 over the Honolulu Hahalua 17. Offensive player of the game is fullback Dax Frost of the Sarasota Sailfish. Defensive player of the game is linebacker Heinrich Kackpoo of the Honolulu Hahalua.
Agent Tesla: Our first overtime game and it came between the top two teams the Orange County Otters and Yellowknife Wraiths. Easily the most exciting game of the week as one of just two games decided by a field goal. A great set of games overall though as we only had one game decided by more than two scores. Any comments to add Magnus?
Magnus Rikiya: It seems like a few different quarterbacks have been having themselves a good year thus far. Also happy to see one of my fantasy players on the board again.
Agent Tesla: Agreed on both counts! Now tell us about the next New Orleans Second Line game Sim Rep!
Sim Rep: Week Seven Colorado Yeti at New Orleans Second Line. Yeti put up zero, three, seven, and fourteen for a final score of twenty-four. Second Line put up seven, three, seven, and nine for a final score of twenty-six. New Orleans over Colorado twenty-six to twenty-four.
Agent Tesla: This was a rough stretch of games and to be honest only winning the home game is not the worst result. The New Orleans Second Line are still undefeated at home for the season, although the one and three road record leaves a lot to be desired.
Magnus Rikiya: Our two losses in this stretch came against top six teams so I do not feel too bad about them. This win came against one of the top teams in the league and the defending champions. That more than makes up for it as we were able to put on a good performance. Especially as we head into our next stretch of games which has us at home a bit more often.
Agent Tesla: Fair enough. Indeed the extra home game next time around should be beneficial. Now onto the offensive player of the game Sim Rep!
Sim Rep: Offensive player of the game is running back Ashley Owens of the Colorado Yeti. 14 rushing attempts for 49 yards, an average run of 3.5 yards, a long of 6 yards, 2 touchdowns, 6 receptions for 85 yards, an average reception of 14.2 yards, and a long of 33 yards.
Agent Tesla: Ooh. No argument from me here as the two touchdowns make up for the poor efficiency on the running side of things, and that receiving stat line is undeniably good. Owens set their longest run of the day on the very first play from scrimmage, however they did not really turn it on until the second half. Their first touchdown of the day came on a third and goal towards the end of the third quarter where they took it two yards into the end zone. They followed it up in the fourth quarter with a five yard touchdown run on first and goal to give their team a chance. Honestly though I would say their best play of the day was their long reception of thirty-three yards to convert a fourth and sixteen on a drive that would end in a touchdown that put the team within a field goal of winning the game.
Magnus Rikiya: If not for Prohaska deciding to be just as reliable in the fourth quarter with their three field goals there is no chance we win with how well Ashley Owens played in the second half. Just absolutely stepped up when the team needed them. Huge respect for that.
Agent Tesla: Indeed on both counts. Now for defensive player of the game Sim Rep!
Sim Rep: Defensive player of the game is linebacker Quenton Bode of the New Orleans Second Line. 9 tackles, 1 fumble recovery, 1 pass defended, and 1 interception.
Agent Tesla: Bode is a beast and proved it here with their varied stat line. Their interception set the tone early as they got their pick on a second and ten in the first quarter and put the team in position to drive down and score a touchdown. It was their recovery of a fumble forced by Andrew Witten that really impressed me though as although they did not return it for any yards it did keep the Yeti off the scoreboard for the first quarter. Additionally they had a tackle on a third and five that would lead to a punt in the second quarter.
Magnus Rikiya: Quenton led both teams in terms of tackles and takeaways that is pretty much a guarantee that they get the award. You cannot make a good argument for anybody else and I am perfectly happy giving it to him here.
Agent Tesla: Absolutely agree. I do just want to say though I find it interesting how the game switched in the second half as you can see Bode's biggest plays came early and Owens' biggest plays came late.
Magnus Rikiya: Perhaps we all need to work a bit more on our endurance then.
Agent Tesla: It cannot hurt! Now I know there are a number of superstars on the Colorado Yeti defense that you would like to swap jerseys with during your time in the league. Who did you ask to swap jerseys with this time though?
Magnus Rikiya: I got to swap with the best defensive tackle in the league today and fellow second overall pick Bubba Thumper. The definition of a professional and I have to say since New Orleans was knocked out I am happy they were able to get a ring last year. He was great about the whole thing and it was an excellent experience. Right now he is the guy I most want to emulate when it comes to defensive tackles so I am thrilled to have gotten a chance to talk to him and especially thankful that he agreed to the swap.
Now I heard that you may have had another similar experience?
Agent Tesla: I may have made an offer to by a certain running back's jersey so they could afford to pay for a meal for a large group of people. However I will be keeping the results of that private and instead just second the thanks to Bubba Thumper. Now for the rest of the week take it away please Sim Rep!
Sim Rep: Orange County Otters at Baltimore Hawks. Baltimore Hawks put up 33 over the Orange County Otters 13. Offensive player of the game is kicker ForThe Brand of the Baltimore Hawks. Defensive player of the game is free safety Walt Green of the Baltimore Hawks.
Honolulu Hahalua at Chicago Butchers. Honolulu Hahalua put up 35 over the Chicago Butchers 9. Offensive player of the game is running back Ke'oke'o Kane-Maika'i of the Honolulu Hahalua. Defensive player of the game is linebacker Mack Arianlacher of the Honolulu Hahalua.
Sarasota Sailfish at Arizona Outlaws. Arizona Outlaws put up 31 over the Sarasota Sailfish 7. Offensive player of the game is quarterback Jay Cue of the Arizona Outlaws. Defensive player of the game is free safety Quinn Hughes of the Arizona Outlaws.
Yellowknife Wraiths at San Jose Sabercats. Yellowknife Wraiths put up 34 over the San Jose Sabercats 27. Offensive player of the game is running back Mathias Hanyadi of the Yellowknife Wraiths. Defensive player of the game is linebacker Douglas Quaid of the Yellowknife Wraiths.
Philadelphia Liberty at Austin Copperheads. Philadelphia Liberty put up 17 over the Austin Copperheads 7. Offensive player of the game is quarterback Brock Phoenix of the Philadelphia Liberty. Defensive player of the game is linebacker Honda Edmond of the Austin Copperheads.
Agent Tesla: Just two games decided by fewer than two scores, and three of the games were decided by three or more scores. No overtime this week, but still an exciting lineup of games with the game of the week easily being the Colorado Yeti at New Orleans Second Line game. Since the next most exciting was a two score win by the Philadelphia Liberty over the Austin Copperheads I do not think anything really compares, and especially since the Austin Copperheads one score came in the fourth quarter when it was practically garbage time.
Magnus Rikiya: Well unless you look at the Yellowknife Wraiths at San Jose Sabercats game which was exciting in part because of the chaotic energy those cats seem to be able to bring to every game. A good week of games though I can agree.
Agent Tesla: Fair enough. Sim Rep tally up the offensive player of the game awards and defensive player of the game awards please!
Sim Rep: Jay Cue has won five offensive player of the game awards.
Franklin Armstrong has won four offensive player of the game awards.
Dax Frost, Wolfie McDummy, and Brock Phoenix have all won three offensive player of the game awards.
Acura Skyline, Keʻokeʻo Kāne-Maikaʻi, and Marcella Tōriki have all won two offensive player of the game awards.
Jamar Lackson, Tatsu Nakamura, Silver Banana, Chika Fujiwara, Dexter Banks II, Forrest Gump, Julio Tirtawidjaja, Saba Donut, Ruff Ruff, Cooter Bigsby, Darrel Williams, Jeffrey Phillips, Mathias Hanyadi, ForThe Brand, Ashley Owens, Easton Cole, Kichwa Jones, and Apollo Reed have all won one offensive player of the game award.
Douglas Quaid has won four defensive player of the game awards.
Quinn Hughes has won three defensive player of the game awards.
Hingle McCringleberry, Mo Berry, Galf Wilf, and Honda Edmond have all won two defensive player of the game awards.
Brendan Lanier, Stanislaw Koniecpolski, Takeda Okura, Ugarth the Dissector, Derred De Ville, Johnny Hellzapoppin, Hamish MacAndrew, Korrin Abernathy, Chase Jensen, Wayne Howyanow, Thor Kirby, Slinky Claxton, Shawn Dawkins, Ben Tu'inukuafe, Warren Stephens, Inspectah Deck, Kacey Dream, Mack Arianlacher, Quenton Bode, Heinrich Kackpoo, Bubba Thumper, Wesley Eriksen, Logan Noble Jr, Kyle Idlewyld, Mervin Leonard, Jamie Nkiah, and Walt Green have all won one defensive player of the game award.
Agent Tesla: Almost halfway through the season and it looks like a few people have pulled away from the pack. Jay Cue and Franklin Armstrong are both outstanding quarterbacks who lead the offensive side of the ball. I will also throw my support in for either of them winning Most Valuable Player since both have agreed to swap jerseys with my client at this time. Meanwhile on the defensive side of the ball it looks like Douglas Quaid and Quinn Hughes are in the lead. Apparently if you want to excel on defense you should have a Q in your name.
Magnus Rikiya: Incoming name change to Magnus Riqiya.
Agent Tesla: I refuse that on the grounds of not wanting to have to fill out the paperwork.
Magnus Rikiya: Alright then.
Agent Tesla: Now here is where I would recommend a good piece of media for the week, but by virtue of the lack of media production in the league I do not feel I need to highlight any here since I highlighted the one piece I wanted to in my Developmental Simulation Football League Week in Review article. So with everything I wanted us to cover out of the way is there anything else you want to say to the people before we sign off for the day Magnus?
Magnus Rikiya: I want to reiterate my thanks to Thorian Skarsgard, Matt Cross, Wesley Eriksen, and Bubba Thumper. Appreciate the swaps guys!
Agent Tesla: I will second that and add a thanks to everyone who read this article. However I will special thanks to @MrStennett, @J0EB, @Lightnoir, Enigmatic, and @`woelker11` for agreeing to the jersey swaps. We really appreciate you!
Thank you for taking the time to read this and we hope you have a good week! See you next time!
Magnus Rikiya: Hello everyone! Thank you for having me.
