Prior to the Season 25 ISFL Draft, Doy Fieri (formerly Vance Slattery) discovered that he was in fact the illegitimate son of famed Food Network Star, Guy Fieri. This created the perfect storm for television producers across the country as they were looking for a new reality TV star. There have been a handful of former athletes who have gone into acting, and a few of them have actually gone on to become stars of cooking and food and travel shows. What made Doy's situation so appealing to network heads, though, was that never has there been a currently active athlete who was so close to the American food scene as Doy Fieri.
After the news hit the tabloids that Guy Fieri had a son he never knew about, the networks came calling, and MTV of all places pitched a short documentary / reality series titled, “Finding Flavortown” which followed Doy during the Season 24-25 off-season, and culminated with him finally meeting Guy Fieri during the Season 25 ISFL Draft.
Since then, Doy has been a recurring character on many Food Network shows as a guest judge, including Chopped 3D and So You Think You Can Noodle. While the details are still fuzzy, Doy is also in talks with Food Network to have his own show. The working title is reportedly Exploring the International Simulation Flavor League, and the premise is Doy hanging out and cooking with various members of not only his team, the Philadelphia Liberty, but also friends he has made across the league.
The network has released teaser descriptions for a few episodes and says more are in the works.
Farm Fresh Steak and Eggs with Gary Goodman
Tsuyu’s Tonkatsu Ramen with Tsuyu Asui
Big Boys and Butter Chicken with Petey Patterson and Ernest Lover
San Jose Surf and Turf with Rich Triplet
Mellot’s Masterful Creole with Adam Mellot
