Hello everyone! In addition to the ISFL related contests you’ll soon be hearing about, the new Competitions and Contests department will also hold occasional off-topic contests. For instance! I’m happy to announce the ISFL Chess Tournament! Are you a logical thinker or a strategist at heart? Then this tournament is for you! Alternatively, do you not know how the horsey pieces move or what en passant is? Then this tournament is especially for you!
Format will be a single elimination bracket with first round byes determined randomly if necessary. Games will be 10 minutes per side with no time added per move (most games will be 5-10 minutes). The winner will receive a state-of-the-art fancy discord role on the new competitions and contests server. The site we’ll be using for the tourney is lichess.org because it’s free, easy, and has very good cheat detection.
To sign up simply fill out this google form before THURSDAY THE 8th. A bracket will be released as soon as sign ups close. You will be responsible for getting your games scheduled and played. We’re trying it this way as opposed to a live event to give folks in odd time zones a chance to participate. Even if you don't think you can win, come have a good time, represent your team, and be a part of one of the first ISFL competitions!
