*Color Rush Rankings

For those of you who saw this earlier, we’re going to give it another shot…

A couple seasons ago I did a color rush ranking for the DSFL teams, and since my player has now made it to the big leagues, I feel my rankings should follow. Please remember these are just 100% my opinions so if you got beef with it, just remember its all in good fun! I do hope to continue this for the DSFL later this season and for future season of ISFL color rush weeks!

For me in last place with no change in field or logo: Yellowknife Wraiths

On a normal week I love the field. But they could have done something great for color rush. Or could have done something at least. I hope they can figure out something for future seasons. Give me a call YKW, I'll get you something real neat so you can avoid this bottom spot next year.

For this next group of teams, they didn't change their field for color rush week but did update their logos. So that's how they are able to be ranked above Yellowknife here.

The San Jose Sabercats

No field change but we were "lucky" enough to be blessed with a color rush logo. I'm not sure if there is a backstory to this and I'm honestly to scared to find out. I've never bee a fan of the green and gold but I bet a saber cat focused field could turn out real sweet. Please just use the sabercat logo and not whatever this logo was.

Chicago Butchers

Same story different team... At least this one is a little more clear what's happening. So for Chicago we don't have any field change the Butchers but we do get a new logo. I was able to find out that this logo logo is a throwback for the the Chicago Blues a form DSFL team. I dig the logo alone and wish I could seen this throwback go all the way to the field.

Now we finally get some new fields. All I can say is be careful what you wish for...

New York Silverbacks

MY EYES!!! Is it scary how much I hate this and fell in love with it all at once. My absolute favorite part is the DK at the 25 yard line just dancing away. I see what was being done here but dang, I can't see anymore after watching their color rush game. Love the idea, sorta love the execution? Would love to see this same theme in future years. Just a little less bright? Or at least don't match the endzones and field color. Side note: I do love the strategy of hiding the first down line for the opposing team. Unfortunately that didn't seem to pan out for them this week.

Colorado Yetis

Who hurt you as a child? And what is with all the yellow in this league? You think after the feedback of such a bright regular field they would go all out to make this as good as they can to alleviate some of that. This went quite the opposite. "How can we go even brighter?" Well you did it, I somehow like your regular season field more than this.

Sarasota Sailfish

This is a football field. So you got that so far. I like effort was put into it but you just made this a rush vs a color rush. Change yo colors! You do get the updated endzones with the Tongue

OGFISH: itself. And its hard not to notice those lovely Ultimus trophies. So I appreciate the effort but would love to see a lot more from this organization. Next year lets get you a water theme field with fish swimming all over. And we can think of some cool colors on the way.

Austin Copperheads

Austin Copperheads. This looks like a regular football field. Don't get me wrong. It looks nice and is functional, unlike others.... But really doesn't seem like there was any fun what-so-ever in designing the field. I did have to go check if this was your normal field as it was so subtle vs the other changes in the league. I do like the effort in the change of logo as well. But with such a badass mascot I hope for something more with this field. Bring on the snakes next season!

New Orleans

New Orleans falls in a similar category with Austin for me. I also had to check if this was New Orleans regular field. It gets the job done and is def a rush of color. I always want more though. Give me more! Giant Trumpet over the field or something. The do have a busier logo to start with so I can see how a color change there could be difficult. Overall this got the job done but didn't wow me.

This is a football field with changes made.

Berlin Fire Salamanders

This is Berlin to me... not a super bright team logo and field wise in general but was able to change it up enough that it was worth it. I love the Berlin Bear end zones. Color rush I always think fun bright colors (NOT A YELLOW FIELD THO) and this doesn't scream that mindset. It is something new and different and think it fits the personality of the team so overall I dig it.

Orange County Otters

Alright this is a spooky one. I'm not sure if its just because Halloween is around the corner or what, but it's always hard to rep black and orange without thinking of it. This was tough to figure out where to rank them. I think their attempt to stick with team colors but noticeably changing things up landed them in the top half of this season's rankings

Baltimore Hawks

I was very back and forth on Baltimore vs Berlin here but loved the big swing Baltimore took. I was a huge fan of their rebrand a couple seasons ago and with that rebrand they have really embraced the Maryland flag. This was a cool field. I do wish that with the flag being the field itself, that they would have found something different for the endzones. Overall a cool concept.

Arizona $$$

Show me the money! Nice job Arizona. This is fun and we got both a field and a logo color rush. I dig the font to go with the theme and everything. The 50 yard line logo with the A and $ as a Z is great. Way to have some fun with this. If I have to pick at it I'd just ask for a non green field because as I've mentioned... I always want more.

Philly Liberty

I've never felt more patriotic looking at at field. I love this. I love this a lot! I can't talk enough about how cool of touch the state on the field is to me. A simplified version of the logo to still have a change but nothing to crazy. I did the Text with the starts in it in the end zones. I just really enjoy this field. This would honestly be a great field for the regular season as well. So there it is, that is my complaint. I do think this is a great field but nothing crazy when it comes to the color rush side of things. Great field. Lets see some pop in color next season!

Honolulu Hahalua

Okay. I dont know if anyone has noticed but I have not put any numbers to the rankings. This is because I am very bias when it comes to this sexy AF field as it was created by yours truly. I mean this screams color rush right? New pink flower logo in the middle? The yellow numbers on the "blacktop" field *chef's kiss* This was my field but I had a lot of input from the locker room and I'm super happy with what we came up with.

Come at me if you don't like the Hon ranking at the top spot. Like I said I may be a bit bias but I'm ready to debate the night away for this field!

I hope these rankings are enjoyable for everyone and can create some fun dialogue. I hoped the warning of future color rush rankings helps motivate some teams that may need it and drive some of the teams that are already out there creating good fields!

Be on the lookout for my DSFL Color Rush rankings once those happen! (Spoiler: I have a field for the Ducks that is gonna be tough to beat!)

Thanks for this though! Hard to not go for a green-ish field when you're doing a 100 dollar bill themed design and I did at least try to make it more interesting and dynamic by going with a more yellow-ish color, trying to mimic the base background color on dollar bills. Overall though very proud of it and happy to see your recognition for it!

Bring it on! Excited to see your Minny field (I'm hoping for Marshalls throwback personally) and hopefully the three I've designed for teams playing tonight can make it give you a run for your money again (see what I did there).
