The 12th best prospect listed on one pre-draft ranking going 12th in the NSFL draft seems like a story that would be relatively drama free. Due to a trade that occured over three seasons ago, this was not to be the case for linebacker Logan Lejune. Lejune was to discover that in his own words:
"shortly after S8, the Yeti traded 3 first round picks to the Liberty for 1 first round pick and some DT named Kamaka. Later they traded Kamaka and a CB named Bly back to Philly for a 2nd (Me) and a 1st that ghosted. Turns out 2 of the 3 firsts the Yeti gave up are pretty good."
Now Lejune is being compared to Marquise Brown and Adriani Falconi (the firsts). Upon hearing his GMs slandered for making the trades that brought him to Colorado, Lejune had this to say:
"What do I have to do to swing that sequence of trades more into Colorado's favor? Pro bowl, Defensive Player of the Year, top linebacker of all time-- are there any accolades I can receive that would outweigh the combined impact of a franchise QB and RB. I would like to make my GMs look good. No matter what I do, there will be those that question Yeti management. Honestly though, media noise doesn't bother me. If anything it only pushes me farther._
How much of an impact can the rookie linebacker make in the NSFL? He joins a defense that struggled significantly in S11. He along with the slew of other defensive players (most notably Beau Montgomery) join what was the leagues worst defense. That is a far cry from the best in league defense put out by Lejune's former team in the Pythons. With Lejune joining this defense he will have the opportunity to start and make an impact right away.
*Warning, a slew of Cowboys references to follow*
Even if he has a Leighton Vander Esch type rookie season, can it be enough to overcome the Dak and Zeke of the NSFL? Lejune is going to need to completely ignore any comparisons and hope the Yeti's team success ultimately proves their managements skill.
