First off I want to thank PDXBaller for putting in all the work to get this Prospect Bowl going, this is going to be a great way for the new rookies to get their feet wet in the sim game. Also, apologies for voting for the round robin format (RIP your time).
Since our first game is tonight I wanted to highlight my fellow Atlantic Blackbird prospects so that the DSFL GM's have a better idea what studs we have on our prospect squad. Any references to attribute levels comes from the player's Player Database page, so some may be more updated than others.
QB - Apollo Lange @RohnJobert
College: UCLA
Player Archetype: Mobile
The first (alphabetically) of the Blackbirds' two headed monster at QB. The UCLA Bruin's all time leader in quarterback rating, Apollo has a lot to offer scouts with not only his solid arm (both Lange's arm and his accuracy currently sit at 66) but his gamebreaking mobility (72 speed). While some scouts mention Lange's tendency to trust his arm too much, they love his aggressiveness when it comes to his throwing windows as he isn't afraid to sling it when he sees an opening. He was able to keep his interception total down at UCLA, but it is fair to ask how Lange will do against a higher level of competition. If he can improve his decision making a DSFL squad is going to get a real gem, and I personally am excited to see where this dual threat QB ends up.
QB - TJ Hendrix @TJH
College: Missouri
Player Archetype: Pocket Passer
Here we have our perfect compliment to Lange in TJ Hendrix. While he may not have the speed of Apollo, I've heard more than one scout gushing about Hendrix's raw arm talent that allowed him to star at Missouri. With both his arm and throwing accuracy at 70 to match his intelligence, teams are starting to take note of Hendrix's ability to get the ball out quickly and on target. One particular scout seemed to love Hendrix as a project, and it sounds like the league thinks it can mold him into a great QB. Opposing prospect defenses are going to go crazy having to gameplan for both Lange and Hendrix.
RB - Trey Moffat @Inbob27
College: Arizona State
Player Archetype: Power Back
Meet our thunder from the great state of Kentucky. It's easy to see why DSFL front offices are interested in this power back out of Arizona State. The aptly named Trey brings the heavy trio of 72 speed, 70 Strength, and 70 Endurance. This trey-fecta of plus skills is enough to send scouts to Bob Kraft's favorite massage parlor just to get a little release. The Blackbird coaching staff is looking to work on Moffat's vision so that he can choose his running lanes better, but once he gets going downhill it is almost impossible for defenses to bring him down. We expect him to wear down opposing defenses this tournament.
RB - Max Vaz @Skyandbray
College: Texas Tech
Player Archetype: Speed Back
And here we find Moffat's lightning compliment. Max Vaz has already turned heads at practice over the last week with his blazing speed which is already at 80. Mixed with solid Endurance (70) and Agility (60), Vaz has already shown the league that he possess plenty of home run ability in his 5'11' frame. Vaz is best known for his 69-yard touchdown run from the Wildcat formation against UCLA in his last year at Texas Tech. That highlight perfectly shows what a nice prospect Vaz is.
WR - Carlomagno Rey @Crey23
College: Northwestern
Player Archetype: Red Zone Threat
Coming in at a towering 6'6'', Carlomagno Rey can do it all near the end zone. Boasting high level speed with a 75 rating, Rey starts to separate himself from other prospects not just because of his size but also his catching ability (hands rating at 67). Rey certainly has the makings of a large red zone threat that DSFL QBs salivate over throwing to. Carlomagno will most likely look to refine his route running with the help of the Blackbird staff to further his impact on the DSFL field. Us Blackbirds are still unsure why he has a translator with him since he is from Chicago, but he's bigger than me so I won't argue.
TE: Michael Rood @DCross
College: Minnesota
Player Archetype: Possession Tight End
And you thought Carlomagno was our only red zone threat? Think again! Michael Rood may come in at 6'3" but you cannot doubt Rood's hands which sit at a 70 rating already. This is sure to please the Blackbird QBs who will most likely be looking to Rood often on third downs during the prospect tournament. While at first some scouts may be turned off by his stature, just look at his BIG10 production to put your mind at ease: with two years as a starter, he amassed 65 catches for 1034 yards and 18 TDs. That's not to mention the dedication Rood had to the weight room just to put on muscle to deal with the college game. If the Atlantic coaching staff can work with Rood on cutting down on some of his penalties he will quickly become a fan favorite wherever he ends up.
OL: Jacob Rowan @Vedin
College: Boston College
Player Archetype: Pass Blocker
What can I say about Jacob Rowan that his game tape won't already tell you. Like Rood, he isn't your prototypical "tall" lineman at 6'3'', but Rowan makes up for that and then some with his immense strength in the passing game. Boasting a 75 strength to go along with 75 pass blocking, Rowan shows the ability to get into a good stance off the snap and has a great anchor to push opposing defenders past his QB. Rowan does have some room for improvement with his run blocking, specifically in his ability to get to the second level on his blocks. But his ability to keep a quarterback clean should have DSFL scouts penciling him near the top of their OL ranks. Just make sure you keep the chips stocked in the locker room, my dude can eat.
DL: Poster Nutbag @Thee_Autumn_Wind
College: Boston College
Player Archetype: Interior Rusher
Rowan decided to bring his old Boston College teammate along in DT Poster Nutbag. Luckily for both sides, they will once again only be matched against each other in practice, but it will be interesting to see their final DSFL destinations. Nutbag showed an ability in college to get to the quarterback, but often relied on his brute strength (61) and large gas tank (64) to overwhelm less talented offensive linemen in college. Nutbag will have to show some more explosion at the next level to see results, we certainly wouldn't want to see Nubag bust.
LB: Lightsout Lewis @flyeaglesfly29
College: East Carolina University
Player Archetype: Coverage Linebacker
Here we have one of the most well rounded linebackers in the DSFL prospect pool, and a player many scouts seem to have ranked highly. Lightsout Lewis' great all around athleticism (70 speed, 70 endurance, and 65 agility) allowed him to be highly productive at East Carolina University, finishing his three year college stint with over 530 tackles, 8 interceptions, 5 sacks, and 2 touchdowns. Front offices across the DSFL seem to think that Lewis has what it takes to be a premier coverage linebacker at the next level, showing quick footwork and fluid hips over the first week of practices. There are minor concerns about Lewis' strength, but that's easily fixed in the weight room. You cant teach what he's got, though.
LB Rock Hardshaft @Rouchicus
College: Fresno State
Player Archetype: Balanced
Here is another linebacker that is on plenty of radars, but it seems to be for off the field activities as much as on field work for Rock Hardshaft. If the face and name are familiar....then you probably don't want to admit that to too many people as Mr. Hardshaft helped pay for his Fresno State education by performing in adult movies. While some question how his side hustle affects his on field play, make no mistake that Rock Hardshaft will also hit it hard on the football field too. Boasting an all around skill set of 70 ratings in strength, tackling and speed, Hardshaft is showing scouts that no matter what position you put him in he is going to stand firm and perform. Hardshaft has shown deep dedication during the prospect bowl practices, and scouts have taken notice and scouts expect him to finish near the top of draft boards.
LB - Marquees Acho @Huskies311
College: UConn
Player Archetype: Balanced
There seems to be a theme with our linebackers, but here we have another player that made headlines for his extracurricular activities as well. Usually when players are dubbed the next Ray Lewis it is for their on the field play, but the former Huskies linebacker Marquees Acho made the news recently for beating a murder charge like old Uncle Ray. Let's hope they never find that white suit, Acho. He was also known for murdering ball carriers while playing in Connecticut, using his all around athleticism (70 Speed and Endurance) to go with solid fundamentals (70 tackling) to make sure that he not only gets away from the cops, but also would be blockers.
LB - Johnny Slothface slothfacekilla
College: University of San Diego
Player Archetype: Benchwarmer
He's pretty shit, don't bother.
CB: Lucas Knight @ven_knight
College: Texas A&M
Player Archetype: All-Around
Finally to the backfield! Lucas Knight showed himself to be a very solid coverage corner while playing at Texas A&M. His mix of 70 speed, 65 agility, and 65 endurance allowed the A&M coaching staff to rely on Knight to lock down opposing receivers all game long. Born in Mexico, we have to wonder if the Luchadores would look to bring in the young CB as a way to further market the game to Tijuana. Wherever Knight ends up, he'll look to add some more strength to his frame to augment the tackling ability that he showcased at College Station.
CB: Xerxes Ridley @plantane
College: Georgia Tech
Player Archetype: Zone
This brash rookie burst on the scene with plenty of bulletin board material and put the league on notice that he had arrived. But young Xerxes Ridley has backed up his mouth and more during the first week of practice. This zone specialist's speed (70) and agility (65) allows Ridley to break on receivers quickly, and this quickness often allows Xerxes to separate the man from the ball. He will have to put in work to keep up with the faster, deep threat receivers in the DSFL if he wants to see the field often in his rookie campagin. But as a former wide receiver turned corner back, there is not much doubt in scouts' minds that Ridley can make the adjustments at the next level to be a star. It would be no surprise to hear Xerxes' name in the first round of the DSFL draft.
S: Walt Green @Duilio05
College: Boise State
Player Archetype: Center Fielder
Here we have the speedy safety Walt Green patrolling the middle of the backfield for the Blackbirds. Green relies on his top end speed (74) and agility (70) to cover plenty of field on defense. Noted hater of all things Florida, Green made some waves shunning the Solar Bears early on in his prospect interview process. But scouts do love his speed game, and have noted that Green also is a great student of the game, breaking down game film for scouts in numerous interviews. Green has also acknowledged that he will need to get stronger in order to compete at the next level, but the Blackbird strength team has already made great improvements in his frame. Already showing strong dedication, I have to imagine Green is high atop most draft boards (besides the Solar Bears' board of course, although it is Florida Man who knows).
S - Quentin Sinclair @MaxGnarland
College: Wisconsin
Player Archetype: Playmaker
Quentin Sinclair rounds out our speedy safety duo for the Blackbirds. His 71 speed and 70 agility ensures that he and Green will be all over the field when opposing teams are trying to sling the football. The noted ballhawk also boasts 65 level hands which are sure to turn some heads during the prospect tournament. Look for the Blackbird staff to encourage Sinclair to take some chances during the tournament, and if Quentin is successful on snagging a few interceptions we could be looking at a high pick come the DSFL draft.
K: Paul Dimirio III @Nykonax
College: Syracuse
Player Archetype: Balanced
Finishing the squad is "Small" Paul Dimirio III, the 6'2'' kicker out of Syracuse. Dimirio boasts not only a 71 level kicking accuracy, but can boom the ball with a 75 kicking power attribute. The Blackbirds know that they can rely not only on Dimirio's ability to hit the long field goals, but also to nail huge punts if the offense can not get within his range. I can't tell you much more about the guy because he literally hasn't said a word since he's shown up... but boy can he kick!
I would profile the rest of our teammates, but I'm pretty sure they are robots and I'm slightly concerned I'm living in some weird Westworld offshoot and they're going to turn on me at any moment.
