Hello everybody! The first day of the Prospect Bowl is behind us and we have the pleasure of sitting down with Sun Tropics Linebacker Maurice Virtanen and hearing his thoughts on how everything went. Without further ado, lets say hello to Maurice.
Maurice: Thanks Sam, always nice to have a chat with you
Sam (Interviewer): So yeah well first of all have to get your thoughts on what is on everybodies lips at the moment, the remake of the first game, how did that all go down?
Maurice: Yeah, I knew you would be asking me about that, but I have to say that I wasn’t really paying attention to any of that stuff at all so I can only tell you what my teammates told me
Sam: Wait let me get this straight, there was a total remake of a Prospect Bowl game and all you can tell me is that you missed it all? How can that be?
Maurice: You see Sam I always have my own pregame routines and while others wanted to go see what was happening between the Mongoose and Wolfpack all I wanted to do was take my routine power nap, it really helps me relax and prepare for games. I really do like sleeping, my mom always said I had special sleeping powers. You know I once slept through an earthquake when I was little? I don’t think every man can say they have done that
Sam: OK, OK, fine. You and your special sleeping powers were able to miss the biggest part of the Prospect Bowl, but what did your teammates then tell you about it?
Maurice: Well I was chatting with my Nordic buddy Bjørn before our game and he said about a fan kidnapping the Mongoose QB and Shady of all people being bored and wanting some fun in the offseason. Glad it wasn’t against us, but I think there was more happening today then just some remake?
Sam: Yes of course, so you had your first games today. How do you feel they went?
Maurice: It was really a bit of a mixed bag, the first game went really well as a team and we totally had the East Cobras numbers, but I felt I didn’t contribute as much. Probably also shows that we have a good team and a lot of interesting prospects for everyone to look out for, but it was mostly Bjørn and Mr VanJensen doing the work. The second game on the other hand I had a much better showing and felt really ready for anything, but we ended up taking the L on it from a team stand point.
Sam: What do you feel happened differently then in the second game?
Maurice: Hate to say it, but I felt the offense just couldn’t get long enough drives and keep chugging along, like if we keep them to 12 points that really should give us a shot to win shouldn’t it?
Sam: You do make a good point there. Who have been the standout players so far you feel?
Maurice: Well I have to first point out my 2 defensive mates in Otto VanJensen and Bjørn Ironside who both look like tremendous players and then Marcella Toriki. Marcella really looks like someone who could elevate a DSFL offense with his agility combined with that power, he really is a future star in the making. Finally I can’t forget the true legend that is Gimmy Jaroppolo, I think everyone can agree that the safety he gave up against the Wolfpack was really something special.
Sam: Are you trying to poke fun at the legend?
Maurice: Oh no of course not, it has been a pleasure being able to play alongside him
Sam: Sure..but there is still a lot to play for in the Prospect Bowl, any final thoughts from you Maurice?
Maurice: Well a 1-1 record is never something you want to aim for and we would all rather be 2-0 but it is what it is. All we can do is look ourselves in the mirror, go out there and play and play the best damn football we can. I see us easily winning this Bowl Sam, but now its off to the sauna for me
Sam: Thanks Maurice! And yeah, I guess that raps it up for us over here, lets hope we get to have another chance to sit down with Maurice
