"Hello ladies and gentlemen, this is Bjørn Ironside reporting in from the S18 Sports Center. Earlier in the off season, we got to speak to Marquise Brown as he was demanding his trade from the Philadelphia Liberty. Since then he's been moved to Chicago and we finally got to catch back up with him. He was eager to talk about his new home and his plans for this coming up season."
Ironside: "Well the news is out. You asked for a trade and it has been granted. You're moving off to Chicago. What was your reaction to the initial news?"
YoungTB: “To be honest, I was pretty shocked. Essellemm was the first person to let me know about the news, and when I had received word of what else was included with the trade, I was pretty surprised. Torenson is a dog, and for CHI to take a chance on me, it’s pretty flattering.”
Ironside: "What do you think it is about Marquise Brown that made the Butchers pursue you as a player?"
YoungTB: “I mean, I’m still a premier back in the league. I’ve been playing for going on 9 years now so I think Chicago wants a veteran to lead the locker room, and that’s exactly what I plan to do. Other than that, I don’t know how you can question my abilities as a running back.”
Ironside: "How did it feel to know that Chicago was willing to give up one of their best players for you even at this point in your career?"
YoungTB: “Well like I said, it’s flattering. Torenson is definitely an up and coming player and he’s definitely got my respect. But now that the dust is settled the move makes a lot of sense to me. I’m prepared to be the veteran this locker room could use.”
Ironside: "Chicago has recently come under a bit of new management. What do you think of the new GMs that are in place and how confident are you in their plans for the future?"
YoungTB: “I’m super excited about this front office and I believe that they’re going to lead this team to some great places. While I might not be a part of their not too distant future, I’m happy to be able to lead this team as a contender here and now. We’re a force to be reckoned with.”
Ironside: "You're now set to take the old legs for one more spin. What are your goals here in Chicago?"
YoungTB: “Well I’ve got rings on my mind. The euphoria from winning one back in S15 still brings back memories and I want to make some new ones in the city of Chicago. Other than that, I’m gonna solidify my spot as a legend in this league.”
Ironside: "What excites you the most as you head into this new environment?"
YoungTB: “Well there’s a lot of things. Chicago is a fun city and I hope to soak in the culture while I’m here. Team wise we’ve got a lot of great personalities. We got my Brown brother, Mason Brown in here with us and he’s obviously someone to look toward when talking about great players. I’m glad I don’t have to play against him anymore! Kazimir Oles, Rose Jenkins, I’m super excited about all of these talented players and being able to play with them.”
Ironside: "Do you think this will be your final season in the NSFL? Are we going to be seeing the swan song for Marquise Brown this season?"
YoungTB: “I’ve got a lot more in me. You’re going to have to force me off the field kicking and screaming to see a damn swan song. Look, in all seriousness, I’ll know when it’s time for me to bow out. I don’t feel like I’m 22, that’s for damn sure. But as of right now, I’m feeling like I got a ring to win.”
Ironside: "Finally what would you like to say to your fellow players in Chicago as you prepare for the season?"
YoungTB: “Well I just want to say that I’m super excited to be a part of the team, I’ve got a lot of hopes for us and I think we’re gonna be able to do some great things.”
"Say what you will about the situation unfolding in Chicago, the leadership there seems to have a plan. That plan included heavy doses of Marquise Brown in their offense. He's still a top feature back in this league and he may be on the decline, but he feels like he has a lot left to prove. Championships are clearly at the front of his mind and only time will tell if Chicago is the best place for him to pursue those goals. Until next time, Ironside signing off."
