Welcome to part 2, I said I’d do this weekly but then I was too lazy to actually write. Let’s hop right into the slightly less inactive inactives and maybe a familiar face or two.
#70 - Arizona Outlaws - Franklin Cooper S
TPE: 73
Activity: 1 million in NSFL cash to anyone who distinctly remembers an interaction with this fella
Notable facts: no
Arizona drafts the best safety in the class by far, it’s probably bad, biased reporting from me having him fall all the way to my team at 70 but in the SouljaVerse I can definitely see Franklin Cooper being a key contributor for the Outlaws because safety TPE is a myth and nothing matters.
#69 - Philadelphia Liberty - Avery Thomas S
TPE: 69
Activity: This part is basically irrelevant right now
Notable facts: haha double funny number
Hey look it put 69 twice so I pointed it out twice aren’t I great.
#68 - Arizona Outlaws - Mister Big Chest WR
TPE: 82
Activity: not as little as I thought
Notable facts: member of the big 3, a prophet of S15
Maybe I should’ve put the meme player at pick #69. In all actuality, WR is a position that needs a lot of TPE to be an effective player and an 82 TPE inactive is about as good at catching things as Dorfus Jimbo is at scoring touchdowns.
#67 - Colorado Yeti - Apollo Lange QB
TPE: 139
Activity: Pretty cool guy actually
Notable facts: Is the reason PB sucked in S14
Actually decent value for the Yeti, as he is probably about as good as Wolfie McDummy is. A shame they didn’t trot him out when they played against OCO or something.
#66 - Chicago Butchers - Lo Mein DE
TPE: 78
Activity: didn’t last long, was good for like a week
Notable facts: 1OA talent for 2 days
Lo Mein was one of the top earners during the first month after the original recruitment post, unfortunately his draft stock plummeted once he went inactive, as draft stock tends to do.
#65 - Austin Copperheads - Troy Bryant CB
TPE: 79
Activity: I actually interacted with this fella once I think
Notable facts: nothing
Nothing notable with this pick, I do believe I talked to this guy in the Solar Bears locker room once so there was potential here. At the very least he is at a position that doesn’t need a ton of TPE.
#64 - Yellowknife Wraiths - Kermit Stronglegs
TPE: 121
Activity: Returned a couple weeks ago
Notable Facts: Retired.
The first player with more than 100 TPE comes off the board. Unfortunately for the Wraiths, Stronglegs retired, so any possible contributions that may come of his possible return are snuffed out. It’s a shame.
#63 - New Orleans Second Line- Donte Shields DT
TPE: 75
Activity: I think he was here because his name looks familiar
Notable Facts: nah
In the most recent draft, NOLA took a huge reach in the first round on a low profile semi-active defensive tackle. I would assume that this means that Donte Shields wouldn’t be starting for NOLA in season 18, however it is possible that he would get some playing time thanks to the lack of defensive linemen all across the league.
#62 - Colorado Yeti - Charles Mudley WR
TPE: 83
Activity: I don’t remember him
Notable Facts: probably not
Basically the same reason as MBC, WR needs the TPE. That’s why the position is hard to be. Just call me run, this is poetry.
#61 - Arizona Outlaws- Rahm Kota
TPE: 103
Activity: I do remember him
Notable Facts: Fair Rub was attempted
I wish I could give a bit more respect to the OL but a low TPE inactive is so much worse than a bot in every possible way.
#60 - San Jose Sabercats- Mamodou Jallow S
TPE: 83
Activity: Nothing notable
Notable Facts: odd name
I don’t know what to put here other than the fact that his name sounds like Hamidou Diallo, who won the dunk contest last year by jumping over Shaq. I guess that’s cool.
#59 - Philadelphia Liberty - Tobias Chase CB
TPE: 99
Activity: Player name is familiar so he did something
Notable facts: Nihil
The return of the unsatisfying TPE counts. Could you not just stick around for one more week so you could hit 100 TPE. Corner is also not exactly a position of need in this draft class so he slides pretty far.
#58 - Orange County Otters - Cale Clay DT
TPE: 90
Activity: I guess
Notable Facts: Alliteration is always awesome amirite
OCO drafted an absolute scrub at defensive tackle in the original S15 draft and in this edition they manage to grab a guy who can get 12 tackles in a season and won’t switch positions.
#57 - New Orleans Second Line - Tyler Janes RB
TPE: 106
Activity: earned a little bit
Notable Facts: zilch
NOLA is another team trying to remedy the mistakes they made in the original draft, for them it was the enormous bust they picked at RB named after a Tom Cruise character or something like that. Here, they get a stopgap running back that may get a couple snaps in the RBBC if they are in desperate need.
#56 - Chicago Butchers - Cameron Clutch K
TPE: 82
Activity: He replied to a post
Notable Facts: Alliteration again, always awesome
Kicker is often a need because not many people are creating kickers these days. Even an 82 TPE kicker can be successful, sometimes even more successful than a high TPE kicker. With the right luck, Cam Clutch is a multi year starter in the NSFL.
#55 - Austin Copperheads - Michael Rood TE
TPE: 112
Activity: just a little
Notable Facts: nyet
Who doesn’t need a good tight end? In this economy, it’s becoming harder and harder to find good TEs, partially because of the stranglehold the Sabercats have on the Tight End market. The only problem with this pick is that Michael Rood isn’t a good tight end.
Well that concludes the second entry in this awful series. Tune back in later for Redraft 3: Electric Boogalee, where I start assigning players you have heard of to new teams.
