Pythons Offseason Summary
Co-GM Change
This offseason our beloved Co-GM Toasty stepped down in order to go up and be Jiggly’s Co-GM in Chicago. This left us with an open Co-GM spot and after much contemplation we decided to hire Huskies to be our newest GM. He had exactly what we were looking for in a Co-GM and so far he hasn’t disappointed. We had an amazing draft and lots of the credit goes to him. Speaking of the draft… this takes us to our next segment.
DSFL Draft
In this DSFL draft we had 2 superstars we needed to replace. The first one, Mervin Leonard, was a defensive player of the year, was a max earner, and was an amazing person. Mervin left a large hole. As for the other superstar we had Saba Donut. He is the best player of all time and should win every single award. However, we decided not to use the first overall pick on a replacement for one of those positions. We used the first overall pick on Purdue linebacker Willie B. Hardagain. This was a super obvious selection as Toasty has always been a Python. He was even our gm last season, so this pick was a no brainer. With the eleventh overall pick we decided that we needed to fill one of the holes created by players being sent up. Low and behold the best wide receiver in the draft fell to us. Yes, I am indeed talking about Stanford’s own Sean O’Leary. We really wanted Blueline and when he fell into our lap we would be dumb not to pick him. He will be the future wide receiver of the year after Jake Dropson wins it this season. With our final pick we didn’t expect to have anyone active left on the board. Surprisingly, Penn State’s starting cornerback, Kacey Dream, was still there. I have no idea why people thought scorycory was inactive but hey, I’m not complaining. We will be picking up right where Mervin left off, locking down everyone in sight. I believe we had an amazing draft and I can’t wait for us to win the Ultimini and a ton of awards. Speaking of awards….. This takes us to our next segment.
Python Team Awards
Today I will be handing out all the Python Team Awards. Although we didn’t win the Ultimini we made it to the big game and every single one of our players made a difference. With that said, I will start handing out these awards.
Simmer of the Year - Toasty
This season’s simmer of the year award really was only between Toasty and GVE. The main difference is that Toasty tested more and he taught GVE how to sim. I’m willing to bet that without Toasty we don’t win as many games. This is why Toasty was worthy of Simmer of the Year.
Sell of the Year - Huskies
This award is given to the person who sold a game or moment away. This season’s winner is Huskies. You might be saying “Huskies wasn’t even in the locker room for most of the season. How did he sell?” Well, when we brought him in he had promised to bring us cereal. However, when he brought the cereal he had forgotten to bring fruit loops. We then go one to lose in the Ultimini. Coincidence?
Play of the Year - Jake Dropson and his -32 Yard Catch
This play set a record in the DSFL. He set the record for the most negative yardage on one play. This play put Dropson on the map. After this play everybody knew his name. I could not be prouder for my WR and I expect him to get to at least -40 in S18.
GM of the Year - Saba
Saba is the best gm in the world. He hard carried his team to the ultimini in his first season gming. He is a lock for the hall of fame, but in all seriousness Toasty is the GMoty. Without him the team wouldn't have played as well. He taught me what GMs need to do in order to be successful. He did everything I asked of him and even more. He clearly deserves this award.
Offensive Player of the Year - Saba Donut
So I’m not biased when I say that other than Cue, I played the best on the offense. I lead the league in receiving yards and receptions. I barely edged out the running back duo of Paco McTaco and N/A Rkansaw when it came to this award.
Defensive Player of the Year - Mervin Leonard
Now this award was a hard one to decide. It was between Leonard and Payton and their stats made it a very hard choice. Payton had more tackles while Leonard had more pass deflections. Ultimately, I chose Leonard for both his amazing play on the field and his incredible addition to the locker room.
Most Valuable Player - Jay Cue
Was there ever a question to who this would be. From the second Cue stepped on the field he was nothing short of amazing. He lead this team to the Ultimini and picked up a few accolades along the way, most notably Quarterback of the year and the league’s Most Valuable Player award. Not to mention that he tied Franklin Armstrong’s touchdown record in a season with 22. Cue has by far been the best player on the team and in the entire league. He will be remembered for a looong time.
[Note: Yes I know this is overdue, that is my bad. Here it is anyway though]
