Today I am going to give an analysis for the first round. This will not be focused on stats, besides TPE, as there are plenty of other great articles having to do with stats. Instead I will be focusing on team need and some other factors going. Furthermore, in my analysis there are no trades. Here is my list:
1. Kyle Idlewyld
Kyle Idlewyld ended his rookie season with 183 TPE, but it is not what Kyle has done that makes me believe he will be first overall. Instead, we have to look at Copperheads GM AdamS DE Awkward Sexjoke. You see, Sexjoke converted from DE to S at the end of the season. I believe this is because, since AdamS is the GM of the Copperheads and has to draft his player, he had a DE prospect he wanted instead of his own. Enter Kyle. AdamS has shown extreme support for Kyle and the match is a match made in heaven.
2. Darrell Williams
Darrell Williams entered this season and took the DSFL by storm. With 236 TPE, he leads the class in TPE. Williams has been one of the best running backs this season, and was a key factor in Minnesota securing the win in the Ultiminus this year. As such, the Sabercats are going to grab him as an immediate upgrade over what is currently in store at the RB position.
3. Victor Moreno
Victor Moreno is the highest rated corner back in the draft with 175 TPE, and was a part of a great defense for Tijuana this past season. Moreno has shown that he can be the go to guy in the defense, and reminds me of another great DB who was selected last year in Kacey Dream. The Outlaws see this as a nice grab to help bolster there CB depth, possibly even asking him to switch over to safety if he wants immediate playing time.
4. Randy Vuxta
This is my player. Randy Vuxta is 3rd overall in TPE this draft, with 204 TPE. Vuxta lead the league in receiving TD, being a key redzone target for his quarterback Avon Blocksdale Jr. Blocksdale Jr. was also selected to the Liberty, and as the two have such a great connection, this should lead to an immediate pickup by the liberty for Randy Vuxta.
5. Jah Bur'Berry
After missing out on selecting Randy with the pick before, the Copperheads take Jah Bur'Berry who is not in any way shape or form a worse pick. Bur'Berry ended the season with 194 TPE, but is a great presence and extremely active, something Copperheads GM really looks for in a player. This pick will help increase the Copperheads chance in making it back to the postseason.
6. Desmond Scarlett
The Yeti are an intriguing team to me. They tied in record with the Baltimore Hawks, but I feel the Hawks seemed like the better team throughout the year. Regardless, I see a similiar situation happening with this pick that occurred with the third overall selection. Yeti going to bolster there CB depth, and if need be may ask Scarlett to transition to either S position. Scarlett ended the season with 174 TPE.
7. Thor Kirkby
The Hawks need a linebacker and Thor falls right into their lap. After getting 153 TPE, Thor was a dominant force on the Minnesota defense that helped to win the Ultiminus. I believe he lead the league in tackles, and I do not see that stopping when he enters play for the Hawks.
8. Bobby Boucher
The water boy himself. I know most people have this man higher, but I think this pick is perfect for both involved. NOLA gets a great DE, maybe even the better DE in the class who wracked up 162 TPE over the course of this season. Not much else to say for Boucher.
9. Jacoby Clay
The Wraiths have some elite wideouts, and I believe they add to that here. One of their wideouts is getting a bit older and will need to be replaced. Clay will step right in, but may need to stay down for a season. Clay earned 166 TPE this past season, and was active force in the receiving game. I do not know much about Clay himself, but I feel hes a great pickup here for the wraiths.
10. Reggie Culbertson
And finally to round out the first round comes the Orange County Otters. Defending champions of the Ultimini, which as some have said may just be called the Orange County Invitational, could select freaking Nuk and thats all and still probably make it to the Ultimini. But I believe Orange County instead goes to the DT position to create a good punch on the line. Reggie ended the season with 146 TPE, but its never a bad idea to invest in your defensive lineman.
Snubs/Replacements
The following are guys that I could see going in the first round that I 100% snubbed on this list. These guys are great players and are first round talents that will be steals by anyone who gets them after the first round. Here they are in no specific order:
1. Galf Wilf
Galf Wilf is the class highest earning linebacker with 172 TPE. He is a great guy, from what I have been told. The problem is I do not know enough about the guy to know how involved he is in the league.
2. Inspectah Deck
Inspectah Deck is probably my favorite linebacker in this class, and I say that because I have written many articles with him in it and he always has a good laugh about it. The reason he is not in my first round is due to his TPE being lower then the others at 125. Whoever gets him will get an active, funny guy who can elevate your team.
3. Venus Powers
Venus Powers is such a great guy. Even though he said he hates people from Tijuana, I still see him as a great Locker Room presence. He is 2nd in total TPE in the class at 225. The problem? He is a kicker. He will probably be selected in the 2nd or 3rd round and whoever gets him is getting a legend.
These are my thoughts and my thoughts alone. They are probably completely incorrect as I tried to use a different angle instead of stats (even though I used stats like three times). All of the guys in this class are wonderful and will help their respective franchises no matter who gets them. Please feel free to tell me what I did wrong, both here in the replies and also on discord.
