Draft night is finally here, what better time than now to do a mock. I don’t have any insider information and zero interviews were conducted. I have no idea if a certain prospect has a strong preference on their landing spot or about any upcoming position changes. I’m just some discount Mike Mayock of the NSFL. First off, I must say this draft looks very strong through at least two rounds. This is a big opportunity for GMs to get a couple long term difference makers. No doubt GMs have been hard at work with their research of this S20 class. Nobody wants to draft a bust like John Wachter 3rd overall, on the flip side if you play your cards right you could get a Trey Willie in the 2nd round. Proper preparation prevents piss poor performance…
Here’s my 3 round mock:
Round 1:
#1 – Austin
Idlewyld – DE
With the first overall selection Austin takes the current highest TPE defensive lineman. DL has a relatively shallow talent pool throughout the league and there’s no doubt they fielded a lot of phone calls for this pick. But they have youth and upside all over their lineup. Can’t outsmart yourself here. They get a great prospect at a position of high need.
#2 – San Jose
Williams – RB
San Jose gets the current TPE leader of the draft class. He has superstar upside and could be a work horse for years to come. SJ has needs on defense, but Williams is too good to pass up.
#3 – Arizona
Boucher – DE
I debated back and forth here. It seems Arizona has two glaring needs at DE and CB, but due to positional scarcity I think they will go with the DE here. Boucher is an active player with a nice 186 TPE. That’s some high quality H2O.
#4 – Philadelphia
Culbertson – DT
The run on defensive linemen continues, remember what I said out positional scarcity? Culbertson is a hard worker with 183 TPE and is the only true active DT in this class. Easy pick.
#5 – Austin
Fassingit - DE
With Austin up again they go with another DE. They add another great fit to their extremely talented and young team.
#6 – Colorado
Powers – K/P
The Yeti take a kicker! Powers has proven so far that he is a hard worker, his 251 TPE currently ranks 2nd highest in the class. With the high-end defensive line talent gone this seems like the direction the Yeti will go. Powers will be kicking balls for years to come.
#7 – Baltimore
Kirkby – LB
The LB class is strong, all three seem to be actives with a good amount of TPE. Kirkby is my pick here. He seems to have 188 TPE and fits right in as an immediate starter for the Hawks. This team doesn’t have many glaring needs.
#8 – New Orleans
Vuxta – WR
NOLA grabs an elite WR talent. He should probably go higher but league wide there is a lot of WR talent and RBs who pose as WRs. NOLA doesn’t care, they laugh all the way to the bank with this pick. And with even more motivation Vuxta will accomplish greatness.
#9 – Yellowknife
Bur’berry – WR
Another great WR talent with 194 TPE. YKW has a need at TE, so maybe one of their current players starts in that spot to make some room for Bur’berry.
#10 – Orange County
Scarlett – CB
With pretty much zero needs on the roster OC could just go with BPA. That’s easily Scarlett here. He has over 200 TPE and is a great locker room guy. He deserves to go higher but I see OC getting yet another stud on their roster.
Round 2:
#1 – Chicago
Sarvepally – RB
The Butchers enter the party and pick up their hopeful RB of the future. They have plenty of needs but Sarvepally and his currently 169 TPE has shown potential to be their lead back.
#2 – San Jose
Moreno – CB
SJ goes defense with this pick. Moreno is a great prospect with 173 TPE and could be a day 1 starter for the Sabercats.
#3 – Arizona
Wilf – LB
GM pick. He must be taken here. No analysis needed.
#4 – Philadelphia
Clay – WR
Potentially the steal of the draft here. It looks like Philly has a need at TE, Clay isn’t a TE but they could probably make it work. He has shown a lot of potential so far collecting 186 TPE.
#5 – Austin
Sexjoke – S
GM pick. He must be taken here. No analysis needed.
#6 – Colorado
Deck - LB
This is where it gets tough for me. Defensive line has been depleted and the Yeti already chose their special teams ace earlier. Deck has shown potential but might have to spend another season in the DSFL due to numbers.
#7 – Baltimore
Rose – RB
This is another BPA style guess of a pick. Rose has shown good work habits so far and could pay off in the long run.
#8 – New Orleans
Stephens – S
NOLA gets lucky here and gets a promising safety in Stephens. I think he has a chance to be a starter game 1.
#9 – Yellowknife
Banana – K/P
This is an obvious pick in my eyes, YKW needs a new specialist and luckily for them is an active player with a nice 158 TPE already.
#10 – Orange County
Kenobi – TE
There are two solid looking TE’s in this class, OC gets one of them. He’ll have to improve behind their current starter however. Another DSFL season is likely for Kenobi.
Round 3:
#1 – Chicago
Gragg – TE
Chicago gets a good looking TE to pair up with their young receiving core. At this point there aren’t many options left, but Gragg would be a great pick.
#2 – San Jose
Tushfinger – RB
This is a pure upside home run pick. 50 TPE Tushfinger has not entered a gym or stepped onto a practice field so far, but there is massive upside if he gets his head out of his ass. Come back bovo, this breaks my heart.
#3 – Arizona
Thompson – WR
In Thompson’s time here she has collected 122 TPE, but commitment seems to have slipped. This is still a good pick this late in the draft, not much to lose.
#4 – Philadelphia
Moore – WR
Same as the previous pick, but with less TPE.
#5 – Austin
Nkiah – S
Austin picks Nkiah here and stashes him in the DSFL.
#6 – Colorado
Mcwigglebutts – DT
McW collected 72 tpe but seems to have gone IA. Col prays he comes back.
#7 – Baltimore
Cole – DE
IA DL that at least gained 64 TPE. Worth the shot here.
#8 – New Orleans
Bjornson – DT
NOLA picks him thanks to his last name.
#9 – Yellowknife
Donaldson – TE
60 TPE IA. Most likely a career DSFL’er.
#10 – Orange County
Maker – OL
Meet Mr. Irrelevant, and the only offensive lineman in this class.
And that’s all folks, flame away.
