*New Era in Yellowknife!

It’s no secret that Yellowknife has had playoff struggles in recent seasons. We have been heavy favorites in all of our playoff exits in the past 5 seasons. We have actually gone 3-5 and yet to play in a road game.

S16 - 10-3 (HFA in QF) - loss to 7-6 PHI (35-34)

S17 - 8-5 (HFA throughout) - Bye - loss the 8-5 BAL( 27-24)

S18 - 11-2 (HFA throughout)- Bye - win vs 6-7 BAL (14-29) - loss vs 10-3 OCO (16-10)

S19 - 9-4 (HFA throughout) - Bye - win vs 8-5 BAL (14-55) - loss vs 8-5 OCO (30-27)

S20 - 9-4 (HFA throughout) - Bye - win vs 7-6 COL (24-40) - loss vs 8-5 AUS (37-20)

This is particularly strange as the sim loves HFA. Yet still, we have been unable to get the team over the hump, no matter how well the odds seem in our favor. In fact, in the entire history of the Ultimus Bowl, prior to S18, only twice had the home team lost. And then we lose 3 in a row…

So, we started looking for a reason for our failures. Is it bad strats? Nope, testing the strats of all five losses show that with both teams DCs and strats, we were still the favorite. Then I started looking at other reasons and I noticed that our Stadium was named The Burial Grounds… Further research showed that the Stadium was in fact built on an ancient indian burial grounds. That is rather unfortunate.

But, the team and it’s ownership is hoping to right the wrongs of their past mistakes. We are going to build a new, state of the art, stadium!
