Hello everyone,
Section VII.C.1 of the league rulebook states: "DSFL Depth Chart: An active player must start over an inactive player in depth charts based on their position on offense or defense."
This rule is in place for several reasons. First, it requires DSFL GMs to prioritize their active players over their inactive players, even when the inactive player may be a better strategic choice. This is because the main goal of the DSFL is to foster user activity, and prioritizing inactive players over active ones runs directly counter to that objective. Second, it allows users who have invested time and energy into this league to see their work pay off in the form of playing time. Again, we want to encourage users to be active and engaged with the league, and guaranteeing that active players start over inactive ones helps further that objective.
Recently, the Head Office was alerted to the fact that the Portland Pythons have been knowingly starting an inactive player over an active one, in violation of the rule stated above. The evidence provided to HO includes screenshots of depth charts, Discord activity, and player stat pages. HO takes this matter very seriously, as user activity is critical to the success of the league, and violating this rule threatens that success. After much discussion, HO has voted on the following punishment:
--Both Portland GMs (@`AirCrou` and @KanakoTheSquirrel) will have their GM pay reduced by half for the season, and
--A public warning that any future violation of this rule will be considered a fireable offense. This warning is extended and applies to all DSFL GMs.
As usual, both of the users in question are allowed to contact @iamslm22 in regards to an appeal.
Thank you very much, and don't forget to continue washing your hands and practicing social distancing.
