My turn for some mock draft media money…
1. Colt Mendoza – CB – Austin Copperheads – iStegosaurez
Now this pick has been aggressively hinted at around the league for a few days now and I believe that makes sense. I was told by two members of the Austin war room that they traded up in order to grab “someone for our war room” and there’s no better candidate than future GM, iStegosaurez. Austin is thin at the corner position behind Dermot Lavelle Jr. and could lose another DB in the expansion draft, so this is about as close to a lock as possible in my eyes. Keep killing it Steg, congrats on breaking my record for largest jump from DSFL draft to NSFL 1OA!
2. Magnus Rikiya – DT – New Orleans Second Line – Tesla
Tesla is another one that I knew immediately was the reason for the trade-up from NOLA. Tesla is one of the kindest and most optimistic users this league has ever seen, which fits with NOLA’s strategy of building a team based on character and activity. Facing the prospect of losing Bjorn Ironside, who from all reports will be unprotected in the Expansion Draft, NOLA will turn to Magnus Rikiya to fill the gap in the defensive line that Isa will leave behind. Congrats Tesla, keep showing people that choosing kindness can pay off, especially since some of the others in this draft will slide quite a way because of character concerns.
3. Tyler Oles Jr. – CB – Arizona Outlaws – To12143
I’ve seen a variety of people mocked here, but I believe this is a no-brainer pick for Arizona. Oles’ last player had a brief stint in Arizona after leaving Chicago, and I believe they bring him back to pair with Unicorn on the outside for the foreseeable future. Arizona has a lot of needs on defense going into this season, so I expect them to take care of this side of the ball early and grab as many sure things as possible. Oles is as sure a thing as there comes.
4. Phat Boi – DT – Philadelphia Liberty – BadLck
One of my favorite prospects in the draft will fall to Philly here at 4 and they won’t be able to resist taking him. This is the kind of guy who will make your locker room fun all by himself. I know as a native of Hawaii, he’ll relish the chance to be a part of the new Honolulu expansion team, but Philly will kill those dreams while giving him the chance to walk straight into their starting lineup next season. I consider Phat Boi a legitimate DRotY candidate and I’m excited to see what he can do at the next level.
5. Derred de Ville – LB – San Jose Sabercats – Exilizer
Another all-star true rookie, I think San Jose continues to solidify their front seven with a player who will immediately add value to a war room and max ear at one of the most important positions on the field. This pick will immediately give San Jose one of if not the most dangerous pass rushes in the NSFL and will allow them to be competitive in games based on defense alone as they continue to rebuild. Exilizer is a player I recommended to iSteg when he was looking for a co-GM for a bid at expansion. I have been in regular contact with him throughout the season and believe he has the skills required to GM in the future. Great pick for SJS here.
6. Stanislaw Koniecpolski – LB – Philadelphia Liberty – majesiu
majesiu is the second Birddog off the board in the first round. He’s known throughout multiple sim leagues and is synonymous with the term “max-earner”. His linebacker, Stanislaw Koniecpolski, has been an absolute tackling machine in the DSFL and I believe Philly will take him here with the goal of plugging him straight into the starting lineup next season along with Phat Boi. Philly has some more experienced players like slm who will know majesiu well and I can see them pushing to get this pick done. Another great pick that fits both team needs and best player available draft strategies.
7. Troen Egghands – DE – Honolulu Hahalua – Troen
For the first rookie to ever join the new Honolulu expansion franchise, I believe Dwyer and Raven will look to build the front seven. Dwyer has recreated as a defensive tackle which shows that they understand the importance of building a strong defensive line. Although I believe they will pick up 1-2 DL players in the expansion draft, I think they’ll look to build a strong young defense that will develop into league winners in a few seasons time. Egghands is a great earner, really easy going, and an intelligent guy. I haven’t shared a locker room with him, but I’m willing to bet he contributes in that aspect as well. This is everything Honolulu will be looking for in a pick to build around and I can see them pulling the trigger on this pick.
8. Johnny Helzapoppin – S – Yellowknife Wraiths – Colabear
Yellowknife desperately needs safety help, and luckily for them this is one incredibly deep safety class. Former DPotY Danny Grithead is going into his twelfth season and is on his last leg. As a DSFL streamer (PT pass) and all-around well-liked guy, Yellowknife will put their faith in Helzapoppin to take up his mantle in the secondary. Helzapoppin is the top safety on my board right now so this pick just makes too much sense if he makes it to Yellowknife at 8.
9. Thubba Bumper – CB – Colorado Yeti – baueranthony9
Here’s an example of when it pays to be friends with GMs. I don’t know Bauer very well, but I’ve been told he’s good friends with the Yeti GMs and can be considered a lock here at pick nine. While there are corners with more TPE, he’s close enough to the top that it’s not a major reach. As long as the Yeti are confident in this pick, then I trust their judgement. They know what kind of locker room they’re looking to build and if they believe Bauer is the right fit, then he is. Excited to get to see Bubba Thumper and Thubba Bumper lining up on the same defense next season.
10. Matt “Son of Havoc” Cross – S – New Orleans Second Line – J0EB
NOLA already could use another starting safety as things stand and may face the prospect of losing Mason Blaylock to the expansion draft depending on who they choose to protect. I believe NOLA goes back to the Norfolk pipeline to grab the highest earning Safety prospect in the DSFL here at the end of the first. Matt Cross will likely be needed this season as the Second Line face the very real prospect of losing two DBs to expansion and even if they’re lucky enough to avoid that he’s a great draft and stash candidate who can earn TPE playing in Norfolk until they call his number.
11. Octavio Clemente – DT – Baltimore Hawks – Billybolo53
Baltimore is making a push for Ultimus this season as they currently hold the 1 seed in their conference, but they aren’t without holes in their roster. One of those holes is defensive line where they currently have 3 total players and face the prospect of possibly losing Fabricio Baldari in the expansion draft should they elect not to protect him. At this point defensive line is a big need, so Baltimore will select the high earning Clemente out of Myrtle Beach to build their new look defensive line around. Watch for Baltimore to draft heavily on defense as they may be facing a new young QB taking over for Havran and developing a young defense has been a successful strategy for rebuilds in the past.
12. Jeffrey Phillips – TE – Orange County Otters – DrunkenTeddy
OCO goes after an alum here with the selection of Jeffrey Phillips. Johnny Blaze will again be slammed by the regression hammer and may not be the player we’ve grown accustomed to watching decimate defenses much longer. Phillips will slot right into the Blaze role either this season or next and allow OCO to take advantage of the latter stages of Armstrong’s career for the next few seasons. This pick fits both best player available and a team need and should be an easy call for the OCO war room.
13. Brandon Booker – CB – Sarasota Sailfish – Memento Mori
Now I’m not calling these guys homers, but I expect that we will see Frost and RainDelay look to build off of Myrtle Beach’s culture and success as they embark on their careers as expansion GMs. That being said, Mori is active as both an earner and a contributor to the league through discord and media articles. He’s a good pick here at the beginning of the second round and fits what I believe Sarasota is looking to build. Pick makes a lot of sense and I wouldn’t be surprised if I nailed this one.
14. Deshun Jones – DT – Honolulu Hahalua – FortyJordy
FortyJordy was the first non-recreate added to the Dallas Birddogs war room after he showed an early interest in exploring the sim and testing how we could limit our penalties as a team. I believe Raven and Dwyer will continue to build DL here and get an absolute monster of a DL player in Deshun Jones. I don’t think it will be very long before he is added to his second expansion team war room, as he will immediately add value to the Hahalua both on and off the field. Plus, I think he has the kind of personality both of Honolulu’s GMs will be looking to build a fresh locker room around.
15. Sandro Ryeu – DE – Arizona Outlaws – s4ndr0p
I don’t know a ton about the player, but I do know that he’s a great earner at a position of need for the Outlaws. I said they would continue to build their defense and Sandro Ryeu is a perfect fit for a DL that needs speed on the edges desperately. Ryeu will provide that speed rush for the Outlaws for years to come.
16. Quinn Hughes – S – Arizona Outlaws – Isidore94
Isidore is a user who is very active in both Discord and on the forums. One of the top earners at his position, Arizona makes a judgement call here to take a player who is very productive in the sim over another safety at the same position in Buck Thornton who has 5 more TPE because of the player’s activity, engagement with the league, and bank account. Isidore is a candidate to slot right into Arizona’s starting defense next season and will hopefully be forcing turnovers for my old squad on the reg.
17. Monty Jack – QB – San Jose Sabercats – Rradum
Bold pick here, but San Jose will be required to take Rradum here in the second round. With QB Dan Wright entering regression this season, San Jose has chosen to focus on their future and chosen Raddum, as friendly and reliable a user as you could hope to have on your team to take over as the team’s leader on the field as he is already GMing them off the field.
18. Eddie Jeeta – WR – Philadelphia Liberty – QuirkyTurtle
With Nacho Varga entering regression and Philly facing the possibility of losing both Avon Barksdale Jr. and Randy Vuxta in the expansion draft, Philly takes a chance on one of the top earning and most productive receivers in the DSFL, Eddie Jeeta. QuirkyTurtle is well known and liked around the league and should make whatever team lands him very happy. With Philly’s QB Brock Phoenix nearing his prime production years, they will need to keep this team loaded with offensive weapons in order to maximize their success. While the defense has obvious needs as well, Philly jumps at the opportunity to add another potentially elite receiver here.
19. White Goodman – RB – Austin Copperheads – gucci
Now we get to me. I know as a running back in a league well stocked on running backs I’ll be less of a priority to teams, but Austin is a team that builds based on cultural fits rather than just based on team need and TPE. I believe I’d fit their culture well. That being said, GM Mooty’s player Mako Mendonca is a season from regression, and even though he’s an absolute workhorse and one man show, I still believe Austin will enjoy the thought of having a second back to take a few carries off his plate and keep him effective late into the game. With tough decisions to make at receiver with the expansion draft looming, Austin may find themselves needing another receiving weapon as well. As a receiving back archetype, I think Goodman could contribute in that facet as well.
20. Colby Jack – QB – Yellowknife Wraiths – flyeaglesfly29
Another bold pick, Yellowknife has chosen the second Jack brother in the draft so far. Fly is a Yellowknife GM and must be taken here. He’s another good choice as he’s a committed player and top earner. Yellowknife knows for sure they will have a dangerous dual threat weapon at QB for years to come once Cooter Bigsby hangs them up.
21. William Lim – WR – Colorado Yeti – yonggarius
William Lim is a player that Kyle and I had at number 12 overall on our big board going into the DSFL draft and were thrilled that we were able to wait on the position and get him in the mid-40s. His player’s talent is beginning to show in the DSFL as he has taken the time to build a well-rounded receiver who now regularly abuses DSFL corners on the rare occasion that we actually throw the ball. I know the Yeti are interested in this player as they’ve reached out to me about him as well as directly to the player himself. With expansion coming, Colorado may find themselves losing a RB2 and/or a WR2 and will likely look offense early. That being said I think Lim would be a great fit here and that Colorado would be getting an intelligent and committed user who is very active in contributing to the locker room at a good spot here.
22. Haha Mango-Panda – LB – New Orleans Second Line – furiouspanda
I feel truly bad for New Orleans as their wealth of active and well-liked players will leave them very exposed in the expansion draft this season. With Johnny Slothface retiring and former number one overall pick Arlanlacher a top target for expansion teams, New Orleans will almost certainly need to add a LB or two next season. New Orleans is very good at identifying players who will fit in well in their locker room and I believe Mango-Panda is a great example. Mature and positive, he understands the sim well and is actively contributing on both Discord and the forums through media. Everybody likes speedy linebackers and he will be capped at 90 by the end of this DSFL season. Perfect fit for both team and player.
23. Benson Bayley Jr. – LB – Chicago Butchers – BayleyIsland
New Chicago Gm, but old sim league vet Bayley will be launching into a rebuilding project alongside Chicago founder Muford next season. Bayley has created a great linebacker build and has been proficient at finding the QB all season long even after starting after the draft and having a TPE deficit to overcome. I think Bayley was a great choice for Chicago GM and his player will be a great first building block for the rebuild that will be underway there next season.
24. Acura Skyline – RB – Orange County Otters – Skyline
After a very defense heavy start to the draft, we’re beginning to see more and more offensive players go here in the second round. Acura Skyline is arguably the number two RB prospect in this draft behind Goodman and will be targeted here by a team who will leave a RB who is entering regression exposed to expansion, and had their other young RB retire suddenly to be a QB. Skyline has been productive in the sim and earning among the best in his class. OCO will be happy t land a RB of the future here at the end of round two. This player reminds me of Apollo Reed when he came out of Norfolk and will slot right into the OCO offense in a similar fashion.
25. Thomas Passman – WR – Honolulu Hahalua – StamkosFan
The third wide receiver is off the board here. StamkosFan is a sim league vet who is well-liked and committed to earning. He has had success in this league with receivers in the past and Dwyer and Raven will trust him to be their number one receiver someday as well. Havran still has some juice left in him so I’d expect to see Honolulu look to put weapons around him early in the expansion draft and ease Passman into the team. Additionally, if you want to read some entertaining character backstory, look into the antics of DSFL bad boy Thomas Passman. I think you’ll enjoy it.
26. Buck Thornton – S – Sarasota Sailfish – FurFurFurson
Buck Thornton is a player I have it on good authority that Myrtle Beach was very interested in going into the DSFL draft. With their first choice, Johnny Helzapoppin long gone, look for Sarasota to jump on the one who got away from the prior draft. I’ve had nothing but good interactions with FurFurFurson at the DSFL level and expect him to be a positive player and committed earner at the NSFL level. Sarasota would be making a good pick here and could continue to build that secondary into the future.
27. Lawrence Bass – LB – Arizona Outlaws – RussDrivesTheBus
Arizona stays on defense with the top linebacker on the board here. Lawrence Bass is a player who rose quickly up boards late in the DSFL draft process and has continued to impress throughout his first season in the league. He’s written some media, though I haven’t seen a ton of him on discord, but he could stick to primarily his team’s locker room. However, he will be a great building piece for Arizona to stick next to Galf Wilf in the middle of that defense as Arizona continues to grab talented young defenders with the multitude of picks.
28. Patrik Money – DE – Baltimore Hawks – PMoney
Another somewhat late joinee who created during the DSFL GM pre-draft, Patrik Money got right to work with earning and finds himself among the draft’s elite DE prospects. Baltimore looks to continue to build their front seven with this pick for the same reasons mentioned on their first pick. Money can add solid pass rush immediately from the edge and will grow into a great contributor for Baltimore’s defense in the future.
29. Kichwa Jones – RB – San Jose Sabercats – howsour
Kichwa Jones is a pure speed back who has been among his class’s top earning players at the position and I believe sits second in TPE to only my player that was a trade deadline recreate. Active in the locker room and focused on providing a speedy alternative to Goodman’s shifty receiving back build, Kichwa has contributed immensely to Dallas’ overachieving first season in the DSFL. The Sabeercats need a weapon precisely like that in their offense. A player who can break off longer runs and move the chains for them. They get that player here in the third with Kichwa.
30. Fawn Dilimiballs – LB – Philadelphia Liberty – enforcer
One of the player’s I was most disappoint not to be able to get in the draft was Fawn Dilimiballs. I knew he’d be a good player at a vital position, but as an expansion team, we had other needs to fill and we knew if we couldn’t get him by pick 69 it was all over. Kansas City took him at 69 for the memes and got a great player. Philly will look for him to grow into their locker room and eventually starting lineup next to Koniecpolski. Good fit for both team and player once again.
31. Wesley Eriksen – S – Honolulu Hahalua – Lightnoir
Another player I was gutted not to get in the DSFL draft and the only player I have actively tried to trade for in the DSFL (twice actually). Honolulu gets a player who is very active and friendly on Discord to help build their locker room from scratch. I also believe he will grow into one of the league’s best safeties in the mold of Walt Green in the future and Honolulu will be very happy with the player should they get him here and continue to build a talented, active, young core on defense.
32. Mo “Mamba” Magic – DT – Yellowknife Wraiths – thevoicelesscreator
Really unfortunate for this player that teams with big DL needs went in other directions early in the draft and he slid this far. That being said, Yellowknife will happily add the big man who comes at incredible value straight into their starting defense next to AirCrou at DT next season. Mo “Mamba” Magic was a top 20 player on our draft board going into the DSFL draft and has been about as productive as any GM could’ve hoped for in terms of earning. Another great fit for both the team and player here towards the end of the third.
33. James Cho – DE – Colorado Yeti – cho1325
While he’s not the most active in conversing in Discord, James Cho updates every week, produces on the field, and is always sniping pokemon in the pokecord channel. Whichever team finds themselves in need of a speedy edge rusher at this point in the draft will be grateful to land a guy like James Cho. He has the potential to be starting next season in the 250-300 TPE range and will be a consistent earner after the draft. Although reserved, he’s quite friendly and mature, and we always appreciate his contributions in the Dallas LR. Colorado gets a good one here at 33 who will be able to immediately improve an already dangerous DL.
34. Heath Evans – TE – Sarasota Sailfish – Feeler
Sarasota sees a good value pick here and adds one of the highest TPE players left in the draft at the end of the third round. Another pick from the Myrtle Beach pipeline that’s sure to be established, Evans will be able to immediately start in Sarasota and help the run game while growing along with the team’s passing offense over the coming seasons. Feeler is a user I had highly rated going into the DSFL draft and was a bit disappointed to see him drafted in our conference. I think Sarasota gets another good cultural fit and continues to build a locker room that will attract players in the future.
35. Eldrick Avery – CB – Baltimore Hawks – RansackTheUniverse
Baltimore is facing the retirement of long-time contributor and co-GM huskies at the end of the season and he will be recreating as a defensive end. His player Marquees Acho will need a replacement at CB and Eldrick Avery will be a steal at this point in the draft. RansackTheUniverse is a very active user who I believe will fit in well with the Baltimore locker room. He’s a near top earner and will likely grow into one of the leagues better corners. I think they’ll be pleased with the depth at the corner position still available at this point in the draft.
36. George “Corpse Grinder” Fisher – LB – Orange County Otters – AL_GRINGO
A small reach here, but OCO really needs a LB at this point in the draft and he is the best available remaining on the board. AL_GRINGO is active on both the forums and the Discord servers and OCO will likely enjoy his contribution to the locker room. Should he continue to earn steadily he will prove to be worth the third-round pick invested on him even at a lower TPE tier than some of the remaining players.
37. Big Edd – DT – Sarasota Sailfish – Big Edd
Now we come to Big Edd, another victim of the lack of DT need early and relative depth at the position. Edd is a steady earner and has rather notoriously asked to be traded in the past with a team that Frost GM’d as the preferred destination (according to twitter at least). When only one team showed interest, he went back to work and has done a great job in regaining the trust of the locker room and earning TPE. He may have to explain the trade request in some scouting interactions, but I think Frost and RainDelay take a chance on a player who reportedly wanted to be one of them in the past and take Edd here. I think he can be a productive and high earning NSFL DT and can start day 1 for an expansion team. Good fit for both team and player.
38. Chester Sweets – CB – Honolulu Hahalua – revuhloution
With one of the steals of the draft, Honolulu takes Chester Sweets here in the beginning of the fourth round. Another victim of playing a position that has pretty good depth in both the NSFL and this draft class. Honolulu will enjoy a player who is always looking to learn more about the league and I think Sweets will enjoy playing under GMs with the amount of knowledge to help him learn all of that. Yet another fit that makes sense for both team and player.
39. Eric Barlow – S – Arizona Outlaws – Thiath
One of the more outspoken and dramatic members of the Dallas locker room, Thaith has a knack for offering a point of view that you never seem to be expecting. I think Arizona could benefit from a player like this stoking conversation and prodding the GMs for more details about their plans for the team, as this past season it feels like the poor performances and tanking has killed the team’s spirit a bit. Arizona can continue to build its defense while adding a young and eager player who wants to learn more about the league and build something great.
40. Daniel George – TE – Arizona Outlaws – dk87gaming
Daniel George is a player who was in our top 10 in the DSFL draft big board but will slip a bit here as he hasn’t been quite as active as he was in the DSFL pre-draft period. My understanding is that it has to do with real life work and the crazy real-world situation we find ourselves in today, but he continues to be a strong earner. Arizona faces a tough decision on whether to protect TE Jammerson Irving as he is inactive and enters regression this season, but George will be a good pickup to be his eventual replacement no matter what they choose to do with Irving.
41. Cadillac Harris – CB – San Jose Sabercats – tractorcito_grande
Another corner, another player who drops further than expected. Cadillac is part of the extremely outspoken corner class of S22. You can find him at any time of day on general and is fueled by Dallas Wide Receiver Mike Lee’s claim that “he’ll be gone in two weeks”. While I don’t see him going anywhere any time soon, I’m predicting the corner position as a whole slides in comparison to the DSFL draft and you start seeing more go around here. San Jose gets a steal here and gets a very active player with a big personality to join HeHateMe PickSix in their secondary. This will be a talented CB duo for seasons to come.
42. Calvin Golladay – OL – Austin Copperheads – CalvinGolladay
The first OL is off the board here and it’s to… Austin? I predict that new number 1 overall pick iSteg’s article on the value of user OL will conquer Dermot’s competing theory of them being useless and the war room will choose to begin taking tackles for the future and their first pick will be the highest earning OL so far, Calvin Golladay. He’s very active in their LR scouting channel and I think will fit the team’s culture as well. I think this is a match that we really could see end up happening in the draft.
43. Andrew Witten – CB – Austin Copperheads – mithrandir
Austin goes with another cultural fit here and continues to improve their secondary. With the possibility of losing a safety and the need of a nickel back, I would not be surprised to take 2 corners relatively early in this draft. If going based on need, this could’ve very well have been Vettel, who goes with the next pick. However, I think we see the Copperheads go with a prospect they will like here as mithrandir is a super easy-going guy and a good match for Austin.
44. Sebastian Vettel – S – Yellowknife Wraiths – Phalanx32
Sebastian Vettel is a guy who had a lot of buzz going into the DSFL draft and another safety that Yellowknife will be all too happy to add to their squad here in the fourth round. I believe Phalanx32 is based in Europe and we don’t see him a ton on Discord anymore, so that may just be the time difference. He continues to be a solid earner and is a super laid back and friendly guy, so I think he’s a match made in heaven for Yellowknife. Yellowknife goes from hurting in the secondary to having a future strength there in one draft.
45. Tatsu Nakamura – RB – Colorado Yeti – qWest
Most expansion mock drafts have pretty much assumed that Colorado will lose Michael Vincent in the expansion draft. I happen to agree that he’s a prime candidate to end up in Honolulu in the expansion draft and Ashley Owens shouldn’t be restricted to just being an RB. To continue to use him at receivers the Yeti will need a number 2. I think Tatsu Nakamura is a natural fit for that position and one of the best remaining overall players in the draft.
46. Ben Slothlisberger – QB – New Orleans Second Line – slothfacekilla
NOLA waits a bit but is able to land their QB of the future here. Stan Francisco is another year deeper into regression, and there’s no obvious candidate for the replacement on the team currently. However, I believe that slothfacekilla, whose corpse remains on NOLA until the end of this season will be that player. It makes sense as he retired a LB in his prime to switch to that position, and it happened to be during a very lucky draft class for that. NOLA will be able to wait a few rounds before selecting Sloth which is rare for a player of his caliber and another steal for NOLA as they continue to find value in this draft.
47. James Angler – TE – Baltimore Hawks – tMuse
Another absolute steal of a player is James Angler. This guy was a late create during the season and is already the clear number four TE. I think it’s possible we see him go even higher than this, but Baltimore has needed a TE since Verso L’Alto retired last season and will finally get the heir apparent in Angler. With a great Jesse James render this guy is one of my favorite sleeper prospects in the entire NSFL draft and I’d be happy to see my former team land him. I can’t speak to the player on a personal level, as I don’t know him, but this looks like a really great fit to me.
48. Slinky Claxton – DE – Orange County Otters – Shiznit19
Again, this is one of the few players in this mock draft that I don’t know a lot about. OCO needs to continue plugging holes however, and Claxton is one of the best players still available at a position of need for them. This pick makes sense, and I see OCO pulling the trigger quickly here if Claxton is still on the board.
49. Mark Radson – LB – Honolulu Hahalua – Ayyylmao
Unfortunately for Radson, the points he gained on steelsound’s draft board when he called me an “edgeboi” don’t count for much these days. However, I do see Honolulu in need of a LB (as all expansion teams will likely be) and a good earner that I know to be active on both Discord and the forums. Sarasota will be bummed he doesn’t fall one pick further, but I think Honolulu moves fast to get this player as he seems to be the last on his tier at this position. The activity combined with the positional need will be enough to make this pick happen if he’s available here.
50. Tom Sofa – QB – Sarasota Sailfish – NamelessNate
The second non-GM QB is now off the board. Sarasota takes their QB. NamelessNate is a guy that I know Frost really likes and I could see him drafting again (much higher this time). While I could see Sarasota making a move for another QB as a stop gap, I think we’ll likely see Tom Sofa snapped up and potentially given a chance in a few seasons. Nate is a good guy I remember from S15 Norfolk and has been a great sport about being Mr. Irrelevant and even gave himself a funny backstory that makes light of our current unfortunate situation as a society. Good fit, good pick here.
51. Richard Gilbert – RB – Arizona Outlaws – SwankyPants31
Arizona has addressed defense with 5 of their first six picks and seem to be in a good spot to begin draft the best player available. In this case that’s RB Richard Gilbert. I’ve seen him active on Discord and even read some of his media today. Arizona could potentially lose Ruff Ruff to expansion and would need a new back to partner with receiving back Baby Yoda. Gilbert would be a great option for them here and could end up being one o the top backs in the league one day.
52. Michael Witheblock – WR – Arizona Outlaws – sakrosankt
Arizona goes again here taking best player available again. With some uncertainty surrounding which receivers will be protected, we could see Witheblock slip to around here, but I definitely don’t see him getting past Arizona. If he’s still available here (big if), watch for Arizona to take him quickly. He’d be much higher in normal circumstances as he’s active in both Discord and writes the occasional entertaining media piece, but circumstances beyond his control have led to him falling to Arizona as a draft and stash player who may take a season or two to see NSFL game time.
53. Hamish MacAndrew – S – San Jose Sabercats – IthicaHawk
Dallas’ resident Scotsman, Hamish MacAndrew, comes off the board here. While he’s not the most active on the Discord as he spends a lot of time playing Eve Online, he updates every week and I’ve seen him around on some of the rookie scouting discords from time to time. A really cool guy who fits a position of need for San Jose, I could see him coming off the board at about the point. Rradum’s familiarity with the player as well as the playmaker build could boost him above the two similar tier safeties still available.
54. Simeon Works – DE – Arizona Outlaws – juicychase
juicychase is another player I’m not very familiar with, but another great earner who will add to Arizona’s DL that is currently full of interior players but lacking edge rush. Arizona get’s a sixth active defensive player in their rookie class and continues to build for the future here. As the best DE left on the board this should be a relative no brainer pick for Arizona.
55. Jim Waters – QB – Honolulu Hahalua – siddhus
Another expansion team gets their QB of the future. In this version of events, It’s Dwyer and Raven who decide to give the kid a chance. They will have Havran for 2-3 more seasons so they take a chance here on the very active siddhus and even let him into the war room once he proves himself for a few seasons. He’s been very active in their locker room, among the top earners at his position, and Honolulu decide to think about their future as they plan to be competitive once Havran is overcome by regression and has to switch to Safety or something.
56. Ben Stackinpaper – CB – Yellowknife Wraiths – benstackinpaper
Yellowknife continues to draft secondary. They are likely to only protect either Snuggles or Leonard this season and could lose one. Even if they don’t, Snuggles is going into his third season of regression and will only be able to fight it for so much longer. Whether he’s needed right away or stashed for a bit, one of the best names in the draft goes here to Yellowknife as the future of the position. He’s a solid earner and I think I’ve seen him around on Discord, hard to top that as we start getting into the steady but unspectacular earners that can make or break teams and their futures.
57. Zamir Kehla – CB – Philadelphia Liberty – retrospace111
What is there to say about this pick. You all know who he is. He never stops running his mouth and was the top response to my “Which player would you not like to be on your team?” scouting question. Despite all of this he is a top earning CB. I think at this point in the draft Philly chooses to take a chance on him and he grows into one of the better players around, even if most of us continue to hate on him in Discord and our media. His player has produced in the DSFL and I for one am interested in seeing if the sim loves him and if he can keep it up at the next level.
58. Bruce Buckley – OL – Sarasota Sailfish – NicholasTheGreat
Frost prides himself on his user OL. Here is the first of the bunch. He takes another MB player in Bruce Buckley who he hopes can grow into his lead blocker in the years to come. Buckley is a very active player who I’ve seen in several Discord servers and is one of the highest TPE players left on the board. To me, this just makes sense here and is a good fit for both player and team.
59. Shawn Dawkins – S – Baltimore Hawks – Number 82
A steal for Baltimore at this point in the draft, Dawkins is a very active player and will go a long way in replacing the aging DBs in Baltimore. I see him on Discord quite often and have spoken with the player enough that I know he would be a fit in Baltimore’s locker room. At this point in the draft, finding a safety with his TPE total and activity level will be too much for the Hawks to pass on and I could see them pulling the trigger quickly on this pick.
60. Nick Kaepercolin – WR – Orange County Otters – Highhaschdi
Finally, with the last pick of the fifth round I see the Otters taking a player that joined late and has earned very quickly. So quickly in fact that I could see him continuing to rise up draftboards between now and the draft. A lot of people are projecting that OCO loses Banks. Should that happen, Lemon seems like the next in line, but after that they could use more depth, and Kaepercolin would fit the bill for that perfectly.
