The Richards and Eric's fiance Clair Jones and her single mom Amanda are boarding thier airplane to head to London for Eric's contract signing and introduction to the London Royals. Clair is a bit nervous, having never actually flown before.
"Eric can you sit next to me? I am a bit scared of flying." Eric nods and they sit down and look at thier phones before takeoff. "Look Eric, they are talking about you in the London News!" The news had put up an article about Eric called "The Blue Blooded Linebacker from the American Bluegrass State has been drafted 17th overall by the London Royals: What he brings to the team and locker room"
"Heh looks pretty positive for the most part" Eric chuckles "though they do talk about my occasional missed tackle!"
"They should get over that!" Amanda says indignantly "why do they keep bringing that up?"
"That's media for ya" Dean says "they won't let you get over anything. Don't worry about it, you'll prove your worth pretty soon."
"Hell yeah I will" Eric smiles as the plane begins to takeoff. It took a total of 10 and a half hours to get to London, and they all had insane jet lag afterwards. "So hungry..." Eric tiredly said as they waited for thier ride.
"Here...take a granola bar..." His mom Jane says giving Eric the bar which he practically stuffs into his mouth, then they finally see a sign with the words "Eric Richards" being held by a bus driver.
"Ello you all" the driver says as he points to his double decker bus "Richards and family and friends right?" They nod "we rented a bus for you all, and we will be heading to get something to eat first"
"Oh thank god" Eric let's out a sigh of relief as they boarded the bus.
"I know bloody jet lag" The driver chuckles "Names George by the way. Nice to meet you. No need to say your names, I was already told them. Eric is bigger in person"
"Is that a compliment?" Eric chuckles.
"Yes it is actually" George smiles "makes it easier to give out big hits. Now we are heading to a favorite place of mine which is half pub half fish and chips place"
"Oh nice" Eric says "I don't really drink though"
"Oh that's alright" George smiles "you'll still get good food" they reach the place which is called "Marty's Pub"
"Oh I've heard of this place" Jane smiles "i read about it while reading about London."
"Oh good on you. It's always good to do research" George says as he lets then out. "I'll be back in an hour so be waiting for me" They headed into the restaurant and order some fish and chips, Eric in particular feeling extremely hungry due to the jet lag. They eat happily, the weariness making the food taste that much better. They were then driven to thier hotel and practically collapsed into bed. The next day, George picked them up around 10 to head to the stadium for the contract signing.
"This should be easy" Eric says " as long as they pay me good, I'll play hard"
"That's a good mindset to have" His dad Dean says "keep playing hard not for the money but for the love of the game"
"I am sure you'll find the terms of the contract agreeable" George smiles "they pay thier players really well"
"I am sure they do" Eric smiles as he looks at the stadium they have arrived at. It was bigger then Kroger Field surprisingly, and looked really well done. They are shown into the GMs office where the owner and GM is ready with the contract waiting
"Take your time reading it" the GM smiled "make sure its all to your liking" Eric notices the payment every year is 4,618,938.50 Euros, and put it into a Euro to Dollar calculator, and smiled when it came up to the standard 5 million dollar equivalent. He looks over it a bit more, then signs it happily. "Thank you for signing your rookie contract, i hope to see you in training camp soon"
"Don't worry" Eric chuckles "I'll be hard to miss, cause I will make sure everyone notices me" they all shake hands, then they headed to show Eric around the stadium. "Looks like you have pretty good facilities, i can't wait to try them out"
"We take pride in keeping our facilities top notch" the GM says "we are sure you will be inspiring your teammates to work harder"
"I definitely intend to" Eric says confidently, ready for the next step in his career
