London Royals week 1 and 2 in review
Well well well. What a nice start for the Royals, despite what the power rankings said (though some people would say the rankings mean nothing in the long run, but still) We are 2-0 and our defense is playing far above thier TPE. Our offense is also tearing it up, with our QB My player Eric Richards is second in the league in tackles, and overall I sm feeling good about this team. So here are weeks 1 and 2 in review for the London Royals:
Vs. Kansas City: this was admittedly a game i expected us to win, though i expected it to be a bit closer. I was aslp admitting feeling nervous after our winless preseason (i though those games don't matter, but i was still feeling nervous. Our defense forced a 3 and out early, and our offense marched down the field to get a touchdown. After that, our defense forced another 3 and out thanks to a Warren sack. Our offense settled for a field goal, then another sack got another 3 and out.
A couple of incomplete passes made us punt after that, and KC managed to get a touchdown. We punted the next possession, and the 1st half ended. We punted our first possession of the first half, and then they punted. On the next possession a big 51 yard pass Kapercolin helped set up a short touchdown pass. Then anothe 4 punts as both offenses stalled, leading to Jack of the Royals throwing an interception leading to a KCC field goal. Luckily Cash Jr gets a kick return of 31 yards helping the Royals get a short field and another touchdown.
Shortly after that, a Covington interception lead to a pick sick for the Royals that all but sealed it up. Another Covington interception later, the Royals are 1-0 with a score of 31-10.
Review: this game was blown wide open in the second quarter, and great job by Jack not to get discouraged by the one interception. Our offense played lights out in the second half, leading to rookie RB Batista getting the Offensive Player of the week. Kapercolin had that massive 51 yard reception that set up a touchdown so he got the game ball. Defensive MVP for this game was Ed Ball who had the massive Pick Six that sealed the game up and received the game ball. Eric Richards had a strong Regular season debut racking up 12 tackles making him an honorable mention.
Vs Tijuana: The second game was more daunting, as the Tijuana Luchadores were looking for thier revenge game after losing to the Norfolk Seawolves. (Who, by the way, lost to Kansas city that week) This game started with a bang, and by that I mean a sack safety by Warren to Slothlisberger resulting in 2 points and a free kick to the Royals. Unfortunately the Royals would do nothing with the drive they were gifted after a Porter sack and were forced to punt it back to the Luchadores. The teams would trade punts for a bit not helped by a Royals illegal block below the waist, and eventually the Luchadores would score on a 30 yard pass.
After that a brief sack and interception party would happen as we would see both quarterbacks get sacked and throw picks, but eventually the Royals scored a touchdown (but missed the extra point) After that the Royals were saved by an Offensive pass interference call, and would drive down the field for 6 to end the half. The Royals would punt thier next possession. Another offensive pass interference call would force Luchadores to punt , and after another Royals punt, Bob Bob would intercept Slothlisberger and set up another touchdown. A couplr of Royals penalties would get the Luchadores a field goal.
Then the Royals would get another touchdown, then a fumble by Smith would set up short field for the Royals leading to another touchdown. The Luchadores would march down the field and score to make it interesting, but the Royals recovering the onside kick sealed it all up. The Royals would get a field goal, and Eric Richards (of all people) would get an interception to seal the game up 39-16, and the Royals are 2-0.
Review: the name of the game was defense, though our offense didn't play too badly ether, ending up with 381 total yards of offense. Danny King ended up getting the game ball, with Batista as a close second. The defense though was insane, and anybody could have gotten the game ball. Bob Bob was awarded the game ball, with literally the rest of the defense as honorable mentions.
Overall I love this start for the Royals. We are playing hard, and my player Eric Richards not only has 23 tackles but an interception. I can't wait to see what we do next!
