Agent Tesla: Hello and good time appropriate greeting to you dear viewer! I am here today with my client Magnus Rikiya to go over some of the highlights of the New Orleans Second Line's game against the Austin Copperheads from week four and just talk a bit about the game in general. We will see how exactly we feel after getting through the highlights. Given what team got the first highlight I will leave it you Magnus.
Magnus Rikiya: The curse is broken! The first highlight is for the New Orleans Second line about five minutes into the game Stan Francisco took the ball on a run up the left side for a terrific twenty-three yard gain. Now some of the credit here goes to the offensive line and more specifically Givussafare Rubbe who set their block to give Stan that running lane up the left side. Credit to Stan for being able to outrun the defense well enough to get all those yards though. Fantastic job by the offense here.
Agent Tesla: Credit where it is due Stan and Givussafare made a dynamic duo here. Now that is the only highlight we have for the drive, but giving credit where it is due the offensive line and our running back committee did a great job marching downfield for the touchdown. The next highlight did not come until there were about five minutes left in the first quarter and it was similar to a week one highlight. The Second Line defender played deep and so Easton Cole hit Net Gaines for what would have been a nice gain regardless, but even after the defender grabbed Gaines they carried the defender about fifteen yards down field before another defender got there to finish the tackle.
Magnus Rikiya: That kind of powering through demands respect.
Agent Tesla: That it does! They were able to carry on downfield much the same as the Second Line thanks to reliable rushing from the running back committee for a score. The next highlight being a phenomenal job by one of my favorite players is also one my client has agreed to let me describe, unless you have changed your mind?
Magnus Rikiya: I know you are looking forward to it. So have at it!
Agent Tesla: Thank you! Last play of the first quarter, third and eleven, and Stan drops back into as clean a pocket as is possible. Credit here to every member of the offensive line, Rainier Wolfcastle, and Forrest Gump for working together to dominate the five man blitz that Austin sent. That gave Stan the time to find the most open target Marcella who found the hole in the zone and who was able to carry forward for sixteen yards before all three defenders jointly tackled her. Marcella powered through though for three more yards with three defenders on her. Fabulous play!
Magnus Rikiya: Beastly play right there. Carrying one defender for three yards is good, but three defenders any amount of yards is amazing. That was a brilliantly bright spot on that play.
Agent Tesla: The next play was a well schemed play, but a great job by the players to make the play. About two minutes into the second quarter the Copperheads ran a legal pick play that got Leaf Jr open. Leaf Jr made the most of the opportunity too as they sprinted about twenty yards downfield before the defenders were able to catch up and bring him down. Respect for that good play all around for the Copperheads.
Magnus Rikiya: That was a well schemed and well executed play. The next highlight is a bit more of a one man show by comparison as about two minutes later Easton Cole gambled on his guy and threw to Rod Tidwell who sprinted forty yards downfield while carrying a defender. It took all forty of those yards for another defender to finally catch up to him. There was not a second of this play where he was not uncovered, but he got the ball anyway and did all but score with it.
Agent Tesla: Might as well have scored with it since they scored on a short rush the very next play. Outstanding job by Tidwell there.
Magnus Rikiya: Unfortunately yeah. Just a great job by Tidwell on that play.
Agent Tesla: Agreed on both counts. The next play is not technically a highlight, but almost was as Crisco hit a beautiful sky high punt that almost stopped just outside the end zone. Unfortunately for Crisco it just rolled inside for the touchback. A powerful punt that turned out too powerful.
Magnus Rikiya: That is on the coverage unit if I am honest. It was a good punt regardless.
Agent Tesla: Fair point on both counts. Now the next play is a routine appearance for New Orleans tight end Austin McCormick. They had another good play a couple of minutes beforehand, however the one I want to highlight is about eight and a half minutes into the third quarter. Caught the ball just shy of a first down, but then carried a defender down the field for a total of a twenty-two yard gain. About thirteen yards carrying a defender is always a nice thing to see.
Magnus Rikiya: Especially for a teammate! McCormick also went on to have another highlight worthy play a few minutes later where they managed to break out of a bump to get a tiny bit open despite being double covered. Stan was able to connect with them and then McCormick ran forward for a fantastic thirty yard gain before a group of three defenders were finally able to bring them down.
Agent Tesla: You love to see it! Bona’beri Jones did a great job on the very next play as well as they were practically wrapped up with how close the defender was when they caught the pass and still marched forward for nineteen yards before they were brought down.
Magnus Rikiya: Great job by the offense making their presence felt by the defenders. I would have felt bad for the corner who had it happen to them those two plays, but they got their due the next play by finally batting a ball away instead of giving up a good gain again.
Agent Tesla: Good job to them there. The next big play came about two minutes into the fourth quarter and should go to show how good the Austin offense can be when they play to their full talents. Peter Larson got open across the middle of the field and managed to make it over twenty yards downfield before the defenders joined together to bring them down. That is the third receiver for Austin we have highlighted, they also have two really good running backs, and the one receiver for Austin we have not highlighted is one I one hundred percent believe will be one of the best when all is said and done. Good job on you Peter Larson being another good piece to a great offense!
Magnus Rikiya: I have to say I both love and hate that I get to play against this offense again this season. Iron sharpens iron and all that, but they are a tough one to handle.
Agent Tesla: Agreed all around. One more highlight of the amazing Austin offense came about two minutes later as Leaf Jr got open on about the twenty yard line for a reception. Made it to about the five yard line before a defender connected with him, but rumbled forward for those last five yards for a score. A super strong touchdown there for Leaf Jr.
Magnus Rikiya: The offensive line did a great job here against the blitz to hold together long enough for the pass to be made. Also credit to Cole for making that throw with so many bodies in his face. Just an outstanding offense defeating defense. Respect for that.
Agent Tesla: Nice of you to say. Just one minute later the Austin defense decided that it deserved to get some credit too as Holden Summers managed to punch the ball out of Gump's hand and scoop it up before being tackled. Forcing a fumble is already a success as a defensive player, but being able to recover it as well takes talent.
Magnus Rikiya: Agreed. Any time a player can do both they deserve plenty of recognition for the play. I have forced a few fumbles in my time, but have thankfully always had a teammate nearby to scoop it up as far as I can recall. Tough task to do both and so good job Summers.
Agent Tesla: Indeed. Credit to the New Orleans defense though as they managed to hold on with the ball in their territory to get a turnover on downs. Against this offense that is not an easy task by any stretch of the imagination, and all of the defenders deserve credit for it.
Magnus Rikiya: Everyone did a great job that drive. Will shout out Bode here as being especially important that drive and going above and beyond for us.
Agent Tesla: Fair. Now this next play is one that just goes to show how talented the Austin offense is as this is a player they picked up to complement their preexisting offense in the off season. Four minutes left in the game, third and eight, and Cole finds Leaf Jr just past the sticks. Leaf Jr already has someone on him, but runs for another thirty yards before another defender can finally catch up and make the tackle. I have to believe he was just tired of their record and was going to carry them to victory even if it meant that he had to do it by himself.
Magnus Rikiya: If you told me Austin got their record on purpose just to lull us into a false sense of security I would believe you. I have no idea how an offense with this much talent managed to do so poorly over the first few weeks of the season.
Agent Tesla: Perhaps they did. I have heard they have a new member of the coaching staff known for genius strategies, and that would certainly require a genius to accomplish.
Magnus Rikiya: Yeah it would.
Agent Tesla: Now the last highlight of the game came after a particularly brutal series of plays for the New Orleans Second Line. Two dropped passes and an incomplete made it fourth and ten from the New Orleans thirty-nine yard line. Stan Francisco drops back and scans the field before they successfully find and connect with their target. Target makes their move and gets brought down just one yard short of the sticks by Dermot Lavelle Jr. He may not have inherited his father's talents at attacking the ball, but make no mistake that he is still the heir to one of the greatest players of all time.
Magnus Rikiya: Unfortunately for us there as he managed to end any chance we had at a comeback with that tackle. Outstanding job by him to make sure that it was a turnover on downs.
Agent Tesla: Yes. Just a few rushing plays from the Austin Copperheads and the game was officially over. Unfortunately as it is another loss for the New Orleans Second Line I believe it safe to say all the player of the game winners will be for the Austin Copperheads. So do you want me to cover those awards by myself, or would you like to still participate?
Magnus Rikiya: I think there is only one real answer on offense so you can handle that, but I think defense could go at least a few different ways. So obvious answer on offense and the ball is in your court.
Agent Tesla: Ryan Leaf Jr stepped up and said the Austin Copperheads were going to win the game. Then he went out and made sure that it happened to the tune of 136 yards from scrimmage and three touchdowns on sixteen touches. The defense just could not stop him once the ball was in his hands it seemed.
Magnus Rikiya: There are so many good players on that offense that is hard to account for them all, but Ryan really played his heart out this game. Just a stellar showing by him and he absolutely deserves to be named offensive player of the game.
Agent Tesla: I will cosign all of that. Just a great job by Leaf Jr to bring his team their first win of the season. Now you said defense could go a few different ways and I agree which is why I am going to give it two different players on the Austin Copperheads. Dermot Lavelle Jr with his five tackles and two passes defended also had the game winning tackle deserves mention here. He will have to share the award with Holden Summers though whose four tackles, forced fumble plus recovery, and one pass defended make for a super stat line.
Magnus Rikiya: See here is where we disagree as I think Dorfus Jimbo Jr with five tackles and two for loss did just as well as either of them did. This was a day where the offenses overall won out, but I see no reason not to respect the best overall defensive player of the day.
Agent Tesla: You make a fair point Magnus, however given your bias to the team I do think the argument is a bit weaker than necessary. Credit where it is due though and Dorfus definitely had a good game. There were three turnovers this game though if you count turnover on downs, and of the players that explicitly caused them the only two who did so are Dermot Lavelle Jr and Holden Summers. Combined with comparable stats beyond that fact in my honest opinion and they deserve more recognition than Dorfus Jimbo Jr for this game.
Magnus Rikiya: You are not wrong that they both had good games too. Dorfus gets my vote for defensive player of the game though. So I do not know how we are going to settle this.
Agent Tesla: The oldest way of settling a debate that I know. Rock paper scissors.
Agent Tesla: It was an intense game as we managed to draw three consecutive times to start as we both selected rock, but two rounds of scissors over paper gives me the win today. Seriously though round one rock, round two rock, round three rock, and then to win off of two more duplicate rounds has got to be one of the weirdest games of rock paper scissors that I have participated in if I am honest.
Magnus Rikiya: I would say it was more intense than weird, but I'll agree with weird too.
Agent Tesla: It was intense indeed, but after all of that I won so Dermot Lavelle Jr and Holden Summers are our first winning pair of the defensive player of the game award for this series!
Magnus Rikiya: Sorry Dorfus I did my best for you buddy.
Agent Tesla: You have now lost your last two games and the game before this you only had one note on your stat line for a penalty. Do we need to work on your competitive spirit Magnus?
Magnus Rikiya: You know what? Maybe we do. It is clear our defense did not do enough to get the win this game and I am a part of our defense. Put the blame on me team. I will do better next time.
Agent Tesla: An amazing attitude to have! Now for any of the viewers at home who did not read any of the previous articles I have done this season there is a thing we are doing at the end of these highlight reels where we include a snippet about who my client Magnus Rikiya swapped jerseys with after the game. He is a big fan of jersey swaps and has been doing them since his time in the DSFL, although privately then as my media work at the time was focused elsewhere. This season though we want to shout out as many nice people as possible and figured this was a good method. All that said who did you end up swapping jerseys with this time around Magnus?
Magnus Rikiya: One of the best defensive line members of my draft class and a friend of mine in part because of that; Troen Egghands. Neither of us really had much of a stat line this game since I had a minor penalty and he had a single tackle, but still got to have some solidarity between us young defensive line members. Troen was thankfully really nice about it and so we chatted a bit before we went our separate ways. His team got the better of us this time, but I look forward to the rematch. Wish him and the Copperheads all the best until then.
Agent Tesla: Superb! I know you will not share what you talked about as you never do, but it is nice you were able to chat some this time around as well. Also I will cosign wishing the Copperheads all the best until our rematch. A lot of good people on that team Troen included.
Magnus Rikiya: Agreed.
Agent Tesla: So I believe that is everything we wanted to cover today, unless you have something more Magnus?
Magnus Rikiya: I just want to say a thanks to all the people who read this and a special thanks to all the people who have agreed to swap jerseys with me so far this season. Appreciate all of you!
Agent Tesla: I will reiterate that thanks and throw in a meta thanks to everyone who words so hard to make this league possible. Thank you so much! See you next time!
