Agent Tesla: Hello and good time appropriate greeting dear readers of the National Simulation Football League! I am here today to introduce the third edition of Agent Tesla's National Simulation Football League Week in Review! Now as a part of the glorious double media! Thank you Bex and thank you Joe for that! Now this is our third edition and so we are getting a bit more comfortable with all the things that we want to cover. However do not be surprised if we decide to change things up as we carry on throughout the season. Joining me today is my client in the National Simulation Football League and starting defensive tackle for the New Orleans Second Line Magnus Rikiya!
Magnus Rikiya: Happy to be here as always. I will also second the thanks for Bex and Joe. It made my agent ecstatic for reasons I am not entirely sure about, but I appreciate it nonetheless!
Agent Tesla: How nice! Also joining us is a representative of the sim courtesy of my job as a rookie mentor and so please introduce yourself this time Sim Rep!
Sim Rep:
Agent Tesla: It is double media week and yet still you torment me. That is okay though and I forgive you because this week is meant to be a joyous occasion! So although you will not introduce yourself I trust you will still tell us about the first game, and so please tell us what New Orleans did in week eight!
Sim Rep: Week Eight New Orleans Second Line at Yellowknife Wraiths. Wraiths put up three, zero, three, eleven, and zero for a final score of seventeen. Second Line put up zero, ten, seven, zero, and six for a final score of twenty-three. New Orleans over Yellowknife twenty-three to seventeen.
Agent Tesla: Our first overtime game of the season and hopefully our last unless they all turn out like this. A tough game understandably given it is between two of the top three teams in the league. However the fans have to be excited that what should have been a good match up more than lived up to expectations by going into overtime like this. What do you have to say about it Magnus?
Magnus Rikiya: I hate overtime games. Playing four quarters is hard enough especially against competition as stiff as they Yellowknife Wraiths, but being pushed into overtime is just absolutely exhausting. Thankfully for me the offense handled it by themselves and I did not really have to take the field. Great job by the Wraiths though to get that two point conversion to force us into overtime.
Agent Tesla: Great jobs all around between the defenses being able to stymie solid offenses and the offenses managing to do just enough to put their teams in position. Just as you said though the New Orleans offense won out today. Now tell us who the offensive player of the game was; if you would please Sim Rep!
Sim Rep: Offensive player of the game is fullback Forrest Gump of the New Orleans Second Line. 22 rushing attempts for 94 yards, an average run of 4.3 yards, a long run of 14 yards, 3 receptions for 72 yards, an average reception of 24 yards, a long reception of 34 yards, and 1 touchdown.
Agent Tesla: Gump got off to a rough start with their first play of the game being a kneel for a touchback and their second that would have been a great 34 yard reception if not for the fact that it ended in a fumble. However he got his groove back come the third play where he had his long run of 14 yards on a first and ten about halfway through the first quarter. He continued this by getting a 22 yard reception to convert a third and fifteen towards the end of the first quarter. Beyond that he continued to have some good runs here and there along with some solid returns that helped him earn this award through the fourth quarter.
Overtime is where he truly locked it up for him though as a 3 yard run on second and four gave the New Orleans Second Line a third and one. A third and one that Forrest Gump converted with a 6 yard run. The ensuing first down had Forrest Gump get another good run of 5 yards to give the team a second and manageable. When a penalty for unnecessary roughness came down against one of the Yellowknife Wraiths defenders to give the New Orleans Second Line the ball in the red zone. Stan Francisco found Forrest Gump for a 16 yard touchdown reception that would win them the game.
Magnus Rikiya: That fumble would have taken him out of contention I would say if not for the fact that he got the majority of our overtime yards and the game winning touchdown. Absolutely deserves the award given how much he made up for that early error.
Agent Tesla: I can agree with that completely. Now please tell us about the defensive player of the game Sim Rep!
Sim Rep: Defensive player of the game is free safety Johnny Hellzapoppin of the Yellowknife Wraiths. 13 tackles.
Agent Tesla: Now I am used to seeing that kind of stat line get rewarded for the Developmental Simulation Football League, however I am surprised given some of the other stat lines that this won out. Douglas Quaid had 5 tackles, a sack and a tackle for loss. Magnus Valdyr had 6 tackles and 2 passes defended. Johnny Snuggles had 5 tackles, a pass defended, and a forced fumble that they recovered. Plus on the New Orleans side Rector had 3 tackles, a pass defended, and an interception. Ugarth also had 6 tackles, a sack, and a pass defended. That said since we will be digging into highlights lets see how key those tackles were before we come to a decision.
A first quarter tackle on third and nineteen that forced a punt is definitely a tackle in the right direction. However they do not have a single other highlight worthy tackle and no tackles in the fourth quarter or overtime. Sticking to their team out of fairness I would have to give it to Magnus Valdyr whose first pass defended forced a punt on the opening drive of the game. Who had a similar tackle on third and long in the third quarter to force a punt as Johnny Hellzapoppin did in the first quarter. However their three tackles in overtime to try to get the ball back for their team is what put them over the edge for me.
Magnus Rikiya: I like Magnus Valdyr as a fellow Husky and a fellow Magnus, but I have to give it to David Rector whose interception came in our red zone to stop what would have otherwise been a scoring drive. If he does not make that play we do not win the game, and for that I have to give it to him.
Agent Tesla: Fair enough. We will leave this at a split decision and move on to who you swapped jerseys with after the game then. Care to tell us about it Magnus?
Magnus Rikiya: I actually asked someone after being impressed by their performance against us last year and so I got to swap jerseys with pro bowl wide receiver Nate Swift after the game. He was really great about the whole thing and I am pleased I got to swap with him. Especially after seeing how well he performed up close last year. Thank you for the swap Swift!
Agent Tesla: Yes! Thank you for the swap and thanks to Bigred1580 for agreeing to it. Now that all of that is out of the way I will leave it to Sim Rep to tell us about the rest of the week. Please take it away Sim Rep!
Sim Rep: San Jose Sabercats at Baltimore Hawks. San Jose Sabercats put up 16 over the Baltimore Hawks 6. Offensive player of the game is fullback Rando Cardrissian of the San Jose Sabercats. Defensive player of the game is linebacker George Fisher of the San Jose Sabercats.
Austin Copperheads at Colorado Yeti. Austin Copperheads put up 42 over the Colorado Yeti 16. Offensive player of the game is quarterback Easton Cole of the Austin Copperheads. Defensive player of the game is linebacker Tony Gabagool of the Colorado Yeti.
Arizona Outlaws at Chicago Butchers. Chicago Butchers put up 22 over the Arizona Outlaws 17. Offensive player of the game is quarterback Jay Cue of the Arizona Outlaws. Defensive player of the game is free safety Hamish MacAndrew of the Chicago Butchers.
Sarasota Sailfish at Orange County Otters. Orange County Otters put up 24 over the Sarasota Sailfish 20. Offensive player of the game is quarterback Franklin Armstrong of the Orange County Otters. Defensive player of the game is free safety Prince Vegeta of the Orange County Otters.
Philadelphia Liberty at Honolulu Hahalua. Honolulu Hahalua put up 21 over the Philadelphia Liberty 12. Offensive player of the game is running back Ke'oke'o Kane-Maika'i of the Honolulu Hahalua. Defensive player of the game is linebacker Warren Stephens of the Philadelphia Liberty.
Agent Tesla: Jay Cue and Franklin Armstrong doing their damnedest to make it a real competition for quarterback awards and offensive player awards period. Also a few actually surprising results as I expected the Copperheads and Yeti to be much closer than that. Especially given the Yeti were at home I am impressed by how the Copperheads handled it. The only three or more score game of the week came between two of the top five teams of the league. That really surprises me.
Magnus Rikiya: I have to agree with you there that I did not expect it to be that lopsided and especially not in Austin's favor as the away team. Beyond that I have to say the Chicago Butchers beating the Arizona Outlaws in a game where Jay Cue won offensive player of the game is a surprise to me. That is a great job by them.
Agent Tesla: Wholeheartedly agree. Time for the recap of the week nine New Orleans Second Line game please Sim Rep!
Sim Rep: Week Nine Baltimore Hawks at New Orleans Second Line. Hawks put up ten, zero, zero, and three for a final score of thirteen. Second Line put up seven, nine, three, and six for a final score of twenty-five. New Orleans over Baltimore twenty-five to thirteen.
Agent Tesla: Now this is a good win given the good young quarterback of the Baltimore Hawks and the overall talent on that team. Playing in The House of the Rising Sun was definitely a huge advantage here for the team, and if not for that this could have gone the other way. Although if my client Magnus had a blocked punt there as well I imagine it would still end up the same way.
Magnus Rikiya: This is probably my best game of the season thanks to that blocked punt, but honestly everyone on the defensive side of the ball had a good game. Special teams is really what won the day for us though.
Agent Tesla: Agreed on both counts. Now Sim Rep tell us about the offensive player of the game please!
Sim Rep: Offensive player of the game is kicker Herbert Prohaska of the New Orleans Second Line. 1 of 2 on extra point attempts and 4 for 4 on field goals.
Agent Tesla: A forty yard field goal in the second quarter, a forty-five yard field goal in the second quarter, a twenty-three yard field goal in the second quarter, and a forty-four yard field goal in the third quarter. Scored over half the points for the team and the points they scored alone would have tied the game. Marcella T?riki and Forrest Gump also had good games with over eighty yards from scrimmage and a touchdown, but had enough marks against their stat lines to justify the selection of Prohaska here.
Magnus Rikiya: That covers everything that I wanted to say here and I can happily hand it to them. Special teams absolutely deserves respect this game given how key it was to us getting the win. Prohaska was a huge part of that given how many of our points they scored.
Agent Tesla: Glad to hear we can agree. Now for defensive player of the game please Sim Rep!
Sim Rep: Defensive player of the game is defensive end Ben Tu'inukuafe of the New Orleans Second Line. 6 tackles, 2 for loss, and 2 sacks.
Agent Tesla: An eleven yard sack on a first and ten in the second quarter and a five yard sack on third and two in the fourth quarter. That is a solid stat line and I can readily give them the award for that since if I were to give it to anyone else it would be clearly biased.
Magnus Rikiya: Thank you for not attempting to hand it to me. My blocked punt may have led to a field goal, but Ben's first sack killed a drive before it even began. Plus that sack to truly seal up a win in the fourth quarter. He played hard throughout the game and absolutely deserves to be recognized for it.
Agent Tesla: You know where my bias lies, but I respect giving Ben props for their work here. Now please tell us who you swapped jerseys with after this game Magnus!
Magnus Rikiya: I got to swap with someone who I really wanted to swap with this season given our similarities. A fellow defensive tackle taken second overall after a superstar secondary member went first overall Tyler Montain. The best defensive tackle in his class and one of the best young defensive tackles period. Great guy who seemed really excited about the idea and so I am especially thrilled I got to swap with him. Thanks for the swap Tyler!
Agent Tesla: A wonderful choice and thank you kindly both Tyler and Amidships for the agreement! Now please tell us about the rest of the games of week nine please Sim Rep!
Sim Rep: Arizona Outlaws at Philadelphia Liberty. Arizona Outlaws put up 34 over the Philadelphia Liberty 13. Offensive player of the game is quarterback Jay Cue of the Arizona Outlaws. Defensive player of the game is free safety Quinn Hughes of the Arizona Outlaws.
San Jose Sabercats at Sarasota Sailfish. Sarasota Sailfish put up 20 over the San Jose Sabercats 14. Offensive player of the game is wide receiver Deondre Thomas-Fox of the San Jose Sabercats. Defensive player of the game is linebacker George Fisher of the San Jose Sabercats.
Chicago Butchers at Orange County Otters. Orange County Otters put up 34 over the Chicago Butchers 13. Offensive player of the game is running back Tatsu Nakamura of the Orange County Otters. Defensive player of the game is free safety Prince Vegeta of the Orange County Otters.
Yellowknife Wraiths at Austin Copperheads. Yellowknife Wraiths put up 23 over the Austin Copperheads 17. Offensive player of the game is running back Mathias Hanyadi of the Yellowknife Wraiths. Defensive player of the game is linebacker Honda Edmond of the Austin Copperheads.
Colorado Yeti at Honolulu Hahalua. Honolulu Hahalua put up 6 over the Colorado Yeti 3. Offensive player of the game is running back Ke'oke'o Kane-Maika'i of the Honolulu Hahalua. Defensive player of the game is defensive end Logan Noble Jr of the Honolulu Hahalua.
Agent Tesla: This was a weird week with two 34 to 13 games and of course the best game of the week being the Honolulu Hahalua beating the Colorado Yeti 6 to 3. Just two defenses competing to see who could terrorize the opposing offense the best and I have to say you love to see it. Also Jay Cue improves to seven of nine offensive player of the game awards for Arizona Outlaw games.
Magnus Rikiya: Huge credit to the Honolulu Hahalua managing to overcome the Colorado Yeti even if they had the advantage of being at home. Winning a defensive game like that against the really good defense of the Colorado Yeti deserves credit. Also nice to see a couple repeat award winners this time around who will move up the leader board.
Agent Tesla: I can agree with that as I like quite a few of the award winners this week. Now to week ten for the New Orleans Second Line please Sim Rep!
Sim Rep: Week Ten Sarasota Sailfish at New Orleans Second Line. Sailfish put up zero, ten, seven, and seven for a final score of twenty-four. Second Line put up seven, three, ten, and ten for a final score of thirty. New Orleans over Sarasota thirty to twenty-four.
Agent Tesla: Given the situations of the two teams I have to say I feel like this was a closer game than it should have been given New Orleans was at home, but that just goes to show you how true any given Sunday really is in this sport. Although given my presence in a certain locker room I might be aware of an alternative reason as to why this game was so close.
Magnus Rikiya: I have no idea what you are talking about regarding alternative reasons, but I can say that the Sarasota Sailfish played well this game and kept it close. Even the worst team in the league has a chance at taking out the best and so you cannot underestimate an opponent. We thankfully played well enough here to get the win, however they really showed a tenacity for victory that cannot be ignored.
Agent Tesla: Fair enough. Now tell us about the offensive player of the game please Sim Rep!
Sim Rep: Offensive player of the game is quarterback Dexter Banks II of the Sarasota Sailfish. 21 of 35 for 209 yards, 3 touchdowns, 1 interception, 4 rushing attempts for 32 yards, an average run of 8 yards, and a long of 17 yards.
Agent Tesla: A 12 yard touchdown pass in the second quarter, a 6 yard touchdown pass in the third quarter, and a 15 yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter. Also another technical touchdown pass of 22 yards, but we will get into that in a little bit. Even with the two turnovers Dexter Banks II had this game his three touchdowns and 93.6 passer rating performance more than make up for it. I hate to give the award to a player not on the New Orleans Second Line, but got to give credit where credit is due.
Magnus Rikiya; I have to agree with you there. While there might be some who blame that interception on their loss I would not blame that on Dexter Banks II. He did everything that you could ask of him in this environment and got his team within twenty-six yards of a victory. Honestly if anything could be blamed by them for the loss it would be their running back committing an unsportsmanlike foul to draw a fifteen yard penalty that put them in a second and long situation.
Agent Tesla: That or the coach deciding to call for a spike when they still had timeouts left, but I can definitely agree that Dexter Banks II is responsible for the game being as close as it is and not at all for the loss. Now for defensive player of the game please Sim Rep!
Sim Rep: Defensive player of the game is linebacker Ugarth the Dissector of the New Orleans Second Line. 8 tackles, 1 sack, 2 passes defended, and 1 interception touchdown.
Agent Tesla: Ugarth is making a good case for defensive player of the year at this point in the season, but with the recent retirement announcement of Mo Berry I get the feeling his heir as the primary pick for defensive awards is clearly here already. A tackle on one third down and a broken up pass on another in the first quarter that caused two punts. A seven yard sack that made an easy touchdown more difficult in the second quarter. However what wins them the award today was that twenty-two yard pick six that was a key part of getting the New Orleans Second Line the win.
Magnus Rikiya: Ugarth just flies to the ball and makes plays all game long. It is all he does and I love him for it.
Agent Tesla: Strong agree with you there! Now that we have handed out appropriate awards please tell me who you swapped jerseys with this week Magnus!
Magnus Rikiya: I got to swap with one of the best defensive tackles of my draft class and someone who has kept me on my toes as I am to be the best in my draft class; Cuco Clemente. A great defensive tackle who relatively recently changed their game from pure pass rusher to a more balanced approach. So I am thrilled to say that we have a friendly rivalry where we work to be better than the other without the hostility that some players have between each other. Thanks for the jersey Cuco and I look forward to competing with you for years to come!
Agent Tesla: A lovely sentiment and one that I will cosign. Also thank you to Billybolo53 for the swap as it would not be possible without you. Now please tell us about the rest of the games of week ten Sim Rep!
Sim Rep: Austin Copperheads at Baltimore Hawks. Baltimore Hawks put up 24 over the Austin Copperheads 20. Offensive player of the game is running back Darrel Williams of the Baltimore Hawks. Defensive player of the game is free safety Gregor MacGregor of the Austin Copperheads.
Honolulu Hahalua at Yellowknife Wraiths. Yellowknife Wraiths put up 40 over the Honolulu Hahalua 14. Offensive player of the game is running back Mathias Hanyadi of the Yellowknife Wraiths. Defensive player of the game is defensive tackle Giannis Kroustis of the Yellowknife Wraiths.
Arizona Outlaws at Colorado Yeti. Colorado Yeti put up 27 over the Arizona Outlaws 16. Offensive player of the game is quarterback Wolfie McDummy of the Colorado Yeti. Defensive player of the game is linebacker Galf Wilf of the Arizona Outlaws.
Orange County Otters at Philadelphia Liberty. Philadelphia Liberty put up 24 over the Orange County Otters 13. Offensive player of the game is fullback Jeffrey Phillips of the Orange County Otters. Defensive player of the game is strong safety Wesley Eriksen of the Philadelphia Liberty.
Chicago Butchers at San Jose Sabercats. San Jose Sabercats put up 16 over the Chicago Butchers 6. Offensive player of the game is running back Jamar Lackson of the San Jose Sabercats. Defensive player of the game is cornerback Tyron Shields of the Chicago Butchers.
Agent Tesla: A week where just about everything went right for the New Orleans Second Line and also led to some exciting games. Including at least one new surprising face in the awards department. Tyron Shields is good enough to win an award that is for certain, but fifteen tackles and an interception as a cornerback is really impressive. Just one game decided by three or more scores and honestly given how good the Yellowknife Wraiths are that result should not be too surprising.
Magnus Rikiya: Definitely a great slate of games and especially a great set of results for the New Orleans Second Line.
Agent Tesla: Indeed. Now tally the player of the game awards for us please Sim Rep!
Sim Rep: Jay Cue has won seven offensive player of the game awards.
Franklin Armstrong has won five offensive player of the game awards.
Wolfie McDummy and Ke?oke?o K?ne-Maika?i have both won four offensive player of the game awards.
Dax Frost, Brock Phoenix, and Mathias Hanyadi have all won three offensive player of the game awards.
Acura Skyline, Marcella T?riki, Jamar Lackson, Tatsu Nakamura, Dexter Banks II, Forrest Gump, Darrel Williams, Jeffrey Phillips, and Easton Cole have all won two offensive player of the game awards.
Silver Banana, Chika Fujiwara, Julio Tirtawidjaja, Saba Donut, Ruff Ruff, Cooter Bigsby, ForThe Brand, Ashley Owens, Kichwa Jones, Apollo Reed, Rando Cardrissian, Herbert Prohaska, and Deondre Thomas-Fox have all won one offensive player of the game award.
Douglas Quaid and Quinn Hughes have both won four defensive player of the game awards.
Galf Wilf and Honda Edmond have both won three defensive player of the game awards.
Hingle McCringleberry, Mo Berry, Ugarth the Dissector, Johnny Hellzapoppin, Hamish MacAndrew, Ben Tu'inukuafe, Warren Stephens, Wesley Eriksen, Logan Noble Jr, George Fisher, and Prince Vegeta have all won two defensive player of the game awards.
Brendan Lanier, Stanislaw Koniecpolski, Takeda Okura, Derred De Ville, Korrin Abernathy, Chase Jensen, Wayne Howyanow, Thor Kirby, Slinky Claxton, Shawn Dawkins, Inspectah Deck, Kacey Dream, Mack Arianlacher, Quenton Bode, Heinrich Kackpoo, Bubba Thumper, Kyle Idlewyld, Mervin Leonard, Jamie Nkiah, Walt Green, Tony Gabagool, Gregor MacGregor, Giannis Kroustis, and Tyron Shields have all won one defensive player of the game award.
Agent Tesla: We are most of the way through the season now and this list is starting to get a bit ungainly. That said Jay Cue running away with these awards is pretty impressive to me. Anything that stands out to you?
Magnus Rikiya: Wesley Eriksen has absolutely stepped it up in his sophomore season and I could not be happier for him. Okay that is a lie I would be happier if one of those games was not against New Orleans, but I am thrilled he is doing so well. Also Ugarth making his awards case yet again I am happy to say and I am looking forward to getting to play with him for years to come.
Agent Tesla: I love all of that and am happy to agree with you there. Now for the final segment of our week in review where I recommend a piece of media that has been made for the league. Which for this week will be 'When Should Quarterbacks Retire?' by Modern_Duke; an interesting article that is exactly what it says in the title. Honestly I am really interested in the overall of how regression hits and as someone who likes to plan ahead I love to see stuff like this to get more of an idea of when I will have to eventually find a replacement for Magnus.
Magnus Rikiya: I am happy that you are able to enjoy articles about preparing for my eventual retirement.
Agent Tesla: Thank you!
Magnus Rikiya: That...
Agent Tesla: Thank you! Now with all of our usual segments covered is there anything else you want to say before we sign off for the day Magnus?
Magnus Rikiya: Well since I cannot address the retirement thing. I will just say thanks again to Nate Swift, Tyler Montain, and Cuco Clemente for agreeing to swap jerseys with me. Really appreciate it!
Agent Tesla: A lovely thing to do and one that I will second. Big thanks to @Bigred1580, @Amidships, and @Billybolo53! It really does mean a lot to us when people approve these swaps. Sincerely thank you!
We also appreciate everyone who reads any of these articles and so thank you for that as well. Also as a special bonus for the people who read this I will be releasing a special media piece this week so please do keep an eye out for that! Stay safe and we hope to see you then!
