ISFL – Power Rankings Week 1
12) Chicago Butchers (0-1)
The worst team from Season 23 looks to continue the trend in Season 24. Even though they were up against my number 1 ranked team, they looked lifeless and didn’t even sniff the endzone.
11) Baltimore Hawks (0-1)
Offense looked lifeless and the defense didn’t do much better. They were man handled by Sarasota. There were high hopes for this team coming into the season let’s see if they can right the ship.
10) Orange County Otters (0-1)
Is the dynasty coming to an end? Franklin Armstrong wasn’t looking like himself out there and turned over the ball multiple times. If he can’t get his old form back it might be time for Orange County to blow up the team and start the full rebuild.
09) Arizona Outlaws (0-1)
Moved the ball decently but couldn’t punch it into the end zone. The defense didn’t look great and gave up a lot of easy touchdowns to Honolulu. A lot of people pegged this team to make waves this season. It’s still early but it’s never great starting off with a loss.
08) Austin Copperheads (0-1)
The runner up from the Season 23 Ultimus Bowl. They played very close in a loss to San Jose. I expect this team to be towards the top of the power rankings in the next couple weeks. This is a playoff team.
07) Philadelphia Liberty (0-1)
Similar to Austin, they played a very close game in a loss to the defending champion Wraiths. This is another team that I think will move up the rankings in the next couple weeks. This team had a lot of buzz coming into the season.
06) San Jose SaberCats (1-0)
They got the job done against a good Austin team. I’m not sure how this team is going to do this season but as of right now they’re undefeated. Let’s see where they land on the power rankings after week 2 and see if we can’t get a better idea of this team.
05) Yellowknife Wraiths (1-0)
The defending champs are starting off in the 5th spot of the Power Rankings. They beat Philly in a closely contested match. The team still looks to make a run in the playoffs, but they’ve got some more rust to shake off. Perhaps too much celebrating in the offseason?
04) Honolulu Hahalua (1-0)
They played a great game against Arizona. Both the offense and defense looked good. This a young team and we’ll have to see if they can keep up the pace and make a serious run this season.
03) Sarasota Sailfish (1-0)
Similar to Honolulu this is a young team. The defense shutdown Baltimore. The offense played very well. This team has the look of becoming a formidable foe for opponents this season.
02) New Orleans Second Line (1-0)
A team that is built to take home the Ultimus this season. They definitely showed that the hype is real. They crushed Orange County and have no signs of slowing down. This team is getting to double digit wins this year.
01) Colorado Yeti (1-0)
They started off the season against Chicago who was coming off the first overall pick. The goal was to handle them with ease, which Colorado did. When you’re putting up 41 points you expect the other team to put up some serious offense as well but not in this game. Colorado dominated from start to finish and kept Chicago out of the end zone. It might be awhile before Colorado is moved from the top spot.
