DSFL – Power Rankings Week 1
08) Dallas Birddogs (0-1)
Week 1 Result – Loss against Tijuana Luchadores: 22-13
Dallas had a tough debut to S24 against Tijuana in a loss. This could have been a blowout if Tijuana’s lackluster offense could have done something in Dallas’ half of the field. The upside is Zoe Watts is looking great and will help Dallas put up points and if they can control turnovers this team could win ball games.
07) Portland Pythons (0-1)
Week 1 Result – Loss against Norfolk Seawolves: 31-17
Just getting the nod over Dallas even though they gave up 31 at home. They got the nod because they actually held the lead for a little bit in the third before completely giving up the game in the fourth quarter. This team is looking to rebuild in S24 so expect a bumpy season.
06) Kansas City Coyotes (0-1)
Week 1 Result – Loss against Myrtle Beach Buccaneers: 27-17
RUN DEFENSE. Kansas City needs to shore up that part of the defense. Myrtle Beach ran all over them amassing 227 yards on the ground. The game was closer than the final score indicated, if it weren’t for a couple turnovers KC might have had a shot. If the Coyotes can’t beat the Birddogs in week 2 except this to be a LONG season.
05) Minnesota Grey Ducks (0-1)
Week 1 Result – Loss against London Royals: 24-21
Surprised how close the game ended up considering Minnesota gave up almost 500 yards of offense to London. Minnesota needs to get it together on both sides of the ball when it comes to passing. If you’re giving up over 300 yards in passing and throwing for less than 100 you’re not going to win too much. Even still they almost pulled out the win.
04) London Royals (1-0)
Week 1 Result – Win against Minnesota Grey Ducks: 24-21
The offense was rolling in the first half and then shut down in the second. They managed to pull out a win against Minnesota but they need to learn to hold leads. This team was very hyped up coming into the season and it was well deserved after a great finish to S23. London should be able to start off 2-0 when they meet Portland in Week 2.
03) Myrtle Beach Buccaneers (1-0)
Week 1 Result – Win against Kansas City Coyotes: 27-17
Solid win against Kansas City. The run game was strong and the offensive line held the opposing defense to zero sacks. If their O-Line can keep this up for the season expect Myrtle Beach to be a serious threat to win the Ultimini. The team has an early test against our #2 team in Tijuana next week.
02) Tijuana Luchadores (1-0)
Week 1 Result – Win against Dallas Birddogs: 22-13
This defense was punishing. They sacked Dallas 6 times and didn’t allow any points until late in the third quarter. If the offense can put up 20+ points a game I don’t see Tijuana losing many games. If they are able to beat Myrtle Beach in Week 2 expect this team has a shot at staying undefeated until they meet up with Norfolk in Week 7.
01) Norfolk Seawolves (1-0)
Week 1 Result – Win against Portland Pythons: 31-17
The defending Ultimini Champions showed no signs of slowing down in Week 1 of S24. They started off hot and even though they allowed Portland to take the lead for a little bit in the game they utterly dominated the game. The defense put up over 400 yards while holding Portland to just over 200. The team has a fairly easy first few weeks before their first test against Myrtle Beach in Week 4. Barring any upsets expect this team to hold on to the top spot for a while.
