Owen Holloway Transitions to WR, Lays out Demands
MYRTLE BEACH -- Embattled Myrtle Beach Buccaneers quarterback Owen Holloway is reportedly set to transition to wide receiver beginning with the Buccaneers' home match-up against the Norfolk Seawolves. The move comes at a critical time for the Bucs' hopes of making the DSFL playoffs, as the Seawolves sit one game ahead of them in the standings. A win in that game could very well dictate the outcome of the DSFL's SFC. The move also comes on the heels of Myrtle Beach's back-breaking loss to the London Royals, a game where Holloway was once again more athlete than quarterback. Following a brutal performance against Tijuana in Week 2, Holloway was reportedly ready to begin the transition to wideout. After a putrid effort at Norfolk in Week 4, the quarterback began doing individual work with the team's receivers coach to be ready when the team wanted to make the switch. After that game, the Bucs strung together three consecutive wins in which Holloway was a major difference maker, which ultimately postponed the switch. However, the team and Holloway reportedly came to an agreement that it was time for Holloway to cede the quarterback job to Jackie Dayton following the loss to London.
The question now facing Holloway and the Buccaneers is how effectively the team can transition Daytona to taking all of the snaps under center on the fly, and whether Holloway will truly be a difference maker as a receiver. Only time will tell. What does seem clear is that Holloway believes he has what it takes to be a true impact player at the next level, as he laid out an unusual set of demands for a prospect who is largely a project. In a storm of tweets late on Saturday night, Holloway made it clear that although he is not an established talent at the position, he would like to be treated as one.

What exactly Holloway is expecting from ISFL teams is unclear, but he has made it very clear that he thinks his transition to wide receiver will be an effortless and successful one. Only time will tell.

Out of character now, figure I might as well make these public and clear, so there is no confusion about what I want. I'm not moving to wide receiver to have another Hugh Mongo career. It's Hall of Fame or bust for Owen Holloway, so don't expect me to be Mr. Team Friendly. I've done that twice now, I'm over it. I'll happily help out in your war room, give you sim advice, whatever the hell else, as long as you can meet what I'm looking for in a team. That being said, here are my "demands"
1. I don't want to be sent down.
2. I'd like to be primary wide receiver for whatever team in my second season. I'm sure I'll get a lot of pushback on this, but I don't really care. It's not changing. I think I'll be where I need to be with speed/hands/other shit at about 475 TPE. That should be mid-way or so through my second season.
You can make those two work, I'll sign whatever contract, help people with their builds, whatever. I'll probably ask for a contract with options to keep my team accountable, but have no intention to leave my team if the stats are there and the demands are met. That simple.
If you can't do those, don't bother drafting me. You violate #1, I walk after the first season. If I can't be primary wide receiver somewhere in my timeframe, I'll probably just retire. So please don't draft me expecting me to cave. I spent 2 1/2 years here basically putting my own player aside for the good of the team because I was the GM. I'm just not really interested in doing it again.
