With the ISFL looking to expand and create new teams comes new opportunities and new GMs who are going to lose a lot of sleep looking on who to draft to make it so their expansion doesn't turn into a full on rebuild. So, as part of the current DFSL DTs that is going to be drafted in the upcoming ISFL draft I am going to go through which DT's I would want if I was an expansion GM. Lets start with the obvious.
1. Goat Tank MBB: 37 tackles, 1 TFL. 2 FF. 3 FR, 4 sacks, 253 TPE
The dudes ridiculous, okay what more can you say. The fact that this guy got a head start on every DT prospect we're going to talk about in this pool doesn't change the fact the guy is as consistent as they come and very reliable. Not only that he's played for the same team in his one and a half year DSFL stint is a good sign. As an expansion GM you want someone who's going to put in the work and be on your squad long term to see the team succeed. This guy literally checks all the boxes and is probably one of, if not the top earner in this upcoming class, you'd be a fool to take another DT off the board before he is gone. Oh and his stats and ridiculous by the way, specifically the forced fumbles is impressive to me, as a DT myself i've struggled to find balance in the attributes to get stats, this guy has it down. Draft him, just shut up, stop overthinking it and draft him.
2. Vance Slattery TIJ 24 tackles, 3 TFL, 1 FF 0 FR 2 sacks, 206 TPE
When I did these rankings for the DFSL draft I had Slattery 2nd on my rankings, he is still there, while I must admit as a DT I am butthurt over this guy being taken before me, hits me right in the pride, in retrospect it was a good choice. Slattery is a good dude, and while ill take my unspoken rivalry with him to my grave he is more then deserving of this spot. He is open to learning and quick to do so. His DT has a nice spread and if you get him in the right locker room and environment he will thrive, hes already proven that on the Luchadores. If I was a GM and Goat Tank was already off I think there's a good debate between Slattery and the next two or three people on this list, I think Slattery is here, even if it's by the slightest of margins he more then deserves to be here. He also comes across as the kind of guy who would see a rebuild through, which is something you definitely should be looking for in a future DT. Cudos Slattery, you deserve to be here.
3. Honky Tonk Haywood POR 28 tackles 1 TFL 0 FF 0 FR 1 sack 196 TPE
Okay, here's me completely swallowing my ego so allow me to say this, with everything I have experienced from Haywood, I think he has had a more impressive season as me, stats wise, and if I was GMing a team I would absolutely go him before myself. I remember directly after I got drafted to Portland I was an outsider and not exactly sure how to act or what the team was about. He came in and literally the first interaction I had with him was him making up silly names for sacks and TFLs. He was one of the people who helped make my transition super smooth and is absolutely one of the reasons why I do what I do at the clip I do. I also think, and have said as much, I think this guy has had a much better season statistically then me, he knows what he is do, unlike me. That and my unending hatred of Vance Slattery. But no, if you are an expansion team, interview this guy, draft this guy. He will make your locker room chemistry better, he works hard, and is totally someone I could see wanting to make a team solid after a rebuild, he did it with Portland, he can do with you. Seriously, consider this dude heavily.
4. Angelo Cerilli POR 26 tackles, 7 TFLs, 1 FF 0 FR 2 sacks 199 TPE
What can I say about me? Well, i'm the best, obviously. It wasn't until I actually researched the stats that I realized i'm the leader in TFLs in this group and have the least amount of tackles to go along with it. I am a solid earner and will make any team I am part of better, so why the hell did I rank myself 4th (which will probably be last there's another DT I wanted to talk about but it's late here and i'm very tired sorry dude). Well plain and simple, and I will tell expansion teams this, right now I have two goals, to spend another season with the Pythons and to be on 1+1 contracts, both of those don't bold well for an expansion team. While I am an amazing talent i'm not sure i'm the right cup of tea to be in an expansion environment, seriously consider the dudes I ranked ahead of me before me. They are much better people and have more solid personalities.
Thats all for me, have a great one all!
