Top 20 Most Unforgettable DSFL Moments
Season 25 of the DSFL was full of many unforgettable moments. This season was the start of many potential Hall of Fame careers for a lot of amazing players. With draft week here this article hopes to touch on potential draftees and their performances. Stat sheet stuffers like Moe Skeeter @TheDude83 and L’Gazzy Burfict @y2bobman, to passing leader Jackie Daytona @Mooty99 and rushing leader Mr. Forty-Two kept the league full of highlight plays one after another. Everyone wants to win as winning is always the most important thing but every season only one team can be the champions. Through this desire players perform to their highest level week after week. The athletes among the DSFL are some of the most powerful and fast among the world. Dominating each other is the goal and doing so by doing your job the best is the only way to ensure success.(also praying to the sim every night before bed doesn’t hurt) Before we get into the top 20 plays I want to acknowledge some honorable mentions that did not quite make the list but were amazing nevertheless. Tijuana Luchadoer’s verteran corner Rich Triplet @Kotasa was all over the field this season from pass defending, tackling and catching interceptions throughout the year. One of Triplet’s best moments throughout the year came in the pair of interceptions he promised to get against LeBron James III. Picking off the King in both games they played. Trippy Rich got the best of the King. Check mate.
Kansas City Coyote running back Sergio Kitchens caught a remarkable 27 yard touchdown catch from quarterback Matt Peterson against the Norfolk Seawolves in the 2nd quarter breaking defenders ankles on his way to the endzone. He beat his man on the line and out ran a safety to finish in the endzone untouched and gave the Coyotes a 10-7 lead propelling them to dominate the rest of the game. Kitchens finished as the Player of the game with 18 attempts for 77 yards and a rushing score as well as 3 receptions for 39 yards and another touchdown.
This article's purpose is to have fun and dive into these moments gaining a new perspective into these players for the upcoming draft. I hope you all enjoy this and if I unfortunately do not have you on it I apologize it was difficult deciding on the top 20 plays with so many to choose from but these are some that I felt were unforgettable! If you would like to read the plays in order I organized them from bottom up. The ISFL can look forward to drafting these players and many more. Please comment and let me know what you think I love reading and getting feedback from you guys! Hope you all enjoy it!
1. Finally the top play of the year. With so many to choose from it was hard to decide which was the most memorable but when I sat went through almost all the plays the story behind this one just stuck out the most. Tijuana squeezed their way into a playoff berth with a 6-8 record. Their first playoff game looked tough with a strong opponent in Myrtle Beach and it was. The game went into overtime tied 13-13. Late into overtime where it looked like both teams weren’t budging one player put it on himself to win. Rumors of a trade transcended into a playoff phenom. Quavious McGrady @DoIHaveTheSause caught and ran for a 25 yard touchdown reception to win the game in overtime, he was actually wrapped up on the seven yard line but dragged two Buccaneer defenders into the endzone with him, winning 19-13 propelling Tijuana to an Ultimini matchup where McGrady shined once again and eventually winning it all becoming 8 time DSFL champions. McGrady finished the game with 7 catches for 104 yards and the game winning touchdown. Wavy.
2. A close 2nd to the top play, but nevertheless a true highlight in its own class, the Minnesota Grey Ducks star cornerback Jeeeeroy Lenkins made one of the plays of the year when he one hand snagged on a very likely touchdown throw from LeBron James III for an 82 yard interception return touchdown in the 4th quarter to seal the game for the Grey Ducks with a 27-17 victory over the Pythons. Lenkins was a highlight machine all day and many quarterbacks try to throw the opposite side of wherever this ball hawking corner is but sometimes you just fall helpless to JEEEEROY!!!! Lenkins was a huge problem all game with 4 tackles, 3 pass defends and 2 interceptions and 1 touchdown.
3. 3rd on the list we are showing love to the most forgotten and frequently most hated position, the kicker, however this kicker leaves little room to hate and lots to love. Buccaneers clutch kicker Leo Bloomfield hit a game-long 57 yard field goal to bring the game to 1 score with the Buccaneers still being down 13-14. The rain started pouring down and winds were whirling at almost 30mph! The Buccaneers brought the ball down towards the red zone on a final drive and Bloomfield was called upon to line up for the possible game winning kick. The ball was snapped and the holder didn’t even get the laces out but it didn’t matter for Bloomfield he nailed the game winning 26 yard field goal despite the harsh elements, winning the game 16-14. Bloomfield was perfect for the day making his extra point attempt and all 3 of his field goals which were a 44 yards, 57, and the 26 yard game winner.
4. Dallas Birddog Cobra Kai @OrbitingDeath solidified himself as a top running back this season. He had the 2nd longest play from scrimmage when he gashed the Seawwolves with a 73 yard touchdown run. Kai took the toss right and followed his lead blocks. A crucial block from the right guard would open a hole that Kai took full advantage of speeding his way down the sideline tiptoeing the out of bounds line to avoid being pushed out of bounds on his way to the end zone to give the Birddogs hope before the end of the half making it a 7-10 game. That individual great effort got the team pumped up and they ended up winning the game 14-10! Kai rushed 17 times for 158 yards and a touchdown. Kai led all running backs with 5.3 yards per carry for the season.
5. Portland’s LeBron James III made his best throw of the year when he threw a laser to Mario Messi for a 32 yard touchdown in the 2nd quarter to give Portland a 10-3 lead against Tijuana. James broke 2 tackles to avoid the sack and escaped the pocket and launched it to the end zone shrugging off a pick he threw in earlier in the game. Messi and James developed a strong QB-WR connection throughout the year. Messi led the league in receptions and touchdowns with 88 grabs and 8 touchdowns and finished 2nd in yards with 886. These teammates hope to elevate their games to an even higher level this upcoming season.
6. Portland Python backup running back Anders Christiansen tore up the Dallas Birddogs week 6 with a 66 yard touchdown run in the 3rd quarter to tie game 17-17. When the Pythons needed points he delivered. Christiansen got the handoff on a 3rd and 2 and he made the most of it. He took the hand off left and made a move to the far left side of the field. He juked a corner and took off with blazing speed after that sprinting into the end zone and spiking the ball after his score. Christiansen ran 16 times for 115 yards averaging a whopping 7.2 carry and a single touchdown.
7. Minnesota Grey Ducks number one overall pick Ryan Negs @"Ryan Negs" did not disappoint this season. One of Negs best moments happened when he connected with fellow rookie Jalen Washington for a 31 yard touchdown bomb against Portland in the 1st quarter giving the Grey Ducks a quick 7-0 lead. Negs stayed poised in the pocket, went through his progressions and launched a rainbow throw across the field perfectly dropping into Washington’s hands. Washington finished the game with 4 receptions and 65 yards and the touchdown. Negs played a great game with 16/25 and 160 yards and 1 td with a 95.4 qb rating.
8. Dallas Birddogs have a real playmaker in Mark Callous @McCransky. Callous made a house call with a 95 yard kickoff return touchdown against the Portland Pythons. Callous set the season record for top speed with this play clocking at a top speed of 22.78 mph. He made one cut dodging a defender at the 26 yard line and easily gashing the would be tacklers. Callous finished the game with 6 grabs for 65 yards and a 1 touchdown.
9. Coyotes emerging star Derek Wildstar @Legally_Blind_Gamer once again ran back a punt for a touchdown this time he returned it 60 yards against Portland's stout defense in the first quarter to give the Coyotes the early 7-0 lead. If Wildstar is returning do yourself a favor and punt it out of bounds. Wildstar also had 10 tackles in the game leaving his mark in more than 1 way. The future shines bright for Wildstar.
10. Portland Python rookie standout safety and voted sexiest man alive 2044 Moe Skeeter returned a 45 yard interception for a touchdown on Mike Boss Jr for a 17-3 lead late 2nd quarter to end the half. Skeeter tracked the ball in the air and met the wide receiver in the air. Skeeter ripped the ball out of the hands of the smaller receiver and saw nothing but green ahead of him. Skeeter high stepped from the 20 yard line and celebrated doing the splits in the end zone. Skeeter was a one man army finishing the game with 7 tackles, 1 sack, 1pd and 1 interception for a touchdown. Skeet Skeet!
11. Myrtle Beach veteran safety Zack Mouse returned a 63 yard interception for a touchdown against London Charlamagne Cortez in the 3rd quarter to close the quarter, giving a 24-7 lead to the Buccaneers. Mouse was hawking the ball all game and when he caught the interception there was no one who was going to stop him from scoring. Mouse was a true problem that game recording stats across the board with 8 tackles 4 pass defenses and 2 interceptions one going for a touchdown
12. Buccaneers rookie running back Akil Ozymandias @Count chocula rushed for a 43 yard touchdown run against the Seawolves in the 1st quarter giving the team an early 7-0 lead that eventually led to an onslaught of scoring. Ozymandias took the hand off and hit a giant hole up the middle, he completely hurdled a safety and outran defenders leaving everyone in his dust. Myrtle Beach ended winning in a blowout game 42-10. Ozymandias tallied up 21 attempts for 121 yards and 2 touchdowns.
13. Tijuana star wideout Quavious McGrady caught a Randy Moss like one handed 17 yard touchdown snag from Mike Boss Jr in the 3rd quarter against the Seawolves he already scored once before this one catching it over 2 guys! McGrady's leaping ability paired with his 8XL gloves makes grabbing touchdowns easy for this red zone threat. McGrady’s scores gave the Luchadores a 24-7 lead and a W. Quavious finished the game with a respectable 6 catches for 81 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
14. Coyotes speedster Derek Wildstar fielded and scored on a 69 yard punt return touchdown against Tijuana in the middle of the 4th quarter. This was the only score of the game in a highly defensive matchup. Wildstar’s amazing return was not enough for the win losing 7-10 but we all got to witness one of the fastest top speeds of the DSFL that play. Wildstar clocked at a top speed of 22.01 mph he also finished with 4 tackles.
15. Tijuana rookie linebacker Vincent Jones @huck24 recorded a league high 16 tackles and a sack week 3 against the Dallas Birddogs. An utter tackling machine Jones was truly relentless this game. Running sideline to sideline. If a play was made on defense that day Jones was either there or a few feet away. A memorable tackle was when the offense gave a hand off to their running back, Jones was right there but got juked by the running back. Though Jones missed the initial tackle for loss he got right back up and chased the running back down to stop him from a possible larger gain. Jones was immediately tested for PEDs but was only positive for Tijuana snow.
16. London Royal’s Frank Michell caught a short slant from Charlemagne Cortez and spun two times leaving defenders in the wake of true finesse and grace running into the end zone for a 12 yard score. Michell finished the game with 6 receptions for 77yards and 2 touchdowns. Unfortunately the late score wasn’t enough for the win but putting opposing teams in the spin cycle will get you noticed by many.
17. Portland legend Donald McBobby @bjbren17 is no stranger to laying the smack down. McBobby had one of the most dominant games of the year by any player with a 5 sack game against the Norfolk Seawolves quarterback Emi Rune to start the season. No one started the season hotter than McBobby. Bull rushed his first two sacks with sheer strength. McBobby then showed off his technique with a spin and swim move to get 2 more sacks. Going for his fifth McBobby came out midfield unblocked or picked up by a running back. It’s safe to say Rune was having McNightmares for several weeks after that game. McBobby finished the game with 12 tackles, 5 sacks and a fumble recovery.
18. Leading rusher of the DSFL and Norfolk Seawolves very own Mr. Forty-Two ran for a 33 yard touchdown to end the 1st quarter giving them 10-0 lead over the Dallas Birddogs. He had been running great all game and you could sense he was about to break a big one at any moment. He got the toss and took it right and stiff armed a helpless corner to the ground then went on breaking a tackle from a linebacker. No one in the league runs as hard as Mr. Forty-Two, pounding the ball up the middle or outrunning defenders down the sideline Forty-Two gets it done in many ways. Mr. Forty-Two finished as Player of the Game with 34 attempts for 182 yards and a touchdown.
19. Portland Python’s star quarterback LeBron James III ran in a 2 yard touchdown to seal the game in the 3rd quarter against the Kansas City Coyotes. James took the game into his own hands when he scrambled out right and propelled his 6’8, 250 pound frame into the air hurdling over a safety and flipped into the end zone hanging onto the ball. James had now rushed for his 3rd touchdown of the season, leading all quarterbacks in that category. James finished the season with 3 yards rushing for 3 touchdowns. Winning the game with an impressive stat line of 22 for 32 for 194 yards and 2 touchdowns with a 92.4 qb rating.
20. Starting the list but certainly not least, we have a game winning touchdown by Dallas Birddog elite receiver Mark Callous. This was an ugly game with rain falling hard it was difficult to get the pass game going. Callous however called game with a 27 yard touchdown snag to win the game for his team in the 4th quarter devastating the Seawolves in 14-7 heart crusher. Callous was a great wideout all year long and when his number was called he was was clutch. He finished the game with 2 receptions for 73 yards and the game winning touchdown.
