After a 2 year stint in the DSFL, tonight is the opening night for Darren Pama joining the ISFL, albeit in Preseason. "All I can say is, I've done my time in training camp, I've been working my butt off in order to put my best foot forward, and hopefully show my stuff on a title contender!"
Pama, an outspoken player, who has already shown himself willing to speak his mind and with a penchant for fiery speeches when necessary, is coming off of a great personal season that got him named to the DSFL's pro bowl but lacked any team success as his team, the Portland Pythons, missed the playoffs.
"You know, it's kind of interesting. I'm going from a team which missed the playoffs due to unclutch kicking and quarterback play to...one headed by Jay Cue."
Cue is known as one of the most skilled quarterbacks of all time, with some of the highest grades ever seen, as well as one who never made the playoffs until last year and consistently causes losses through particularly unclutch interceptions and fumbles. His lone playoff game last year ended after one of his patented pick sixes in overtime lost the game to the eventual champion San Jose Sabercats. The Arizona Outlaws, the team Pama is joining, also happen to be in a pretty stacked conference with a number of teams vying for the playoffs.
"The Sabercats might still have the magic pixie dust that led them to their last two Ultimus titles, and now they're hitting their peak. And then Orange County is always scary and looks like the team to beat this year."
What was Pama looking at specifically with other teams?
"I've been watching film a bunch in preparation for getting called up, and Orange County's secondary scares me, and their line isn't exactly weak either. The Sabercats, meanwhile, have two guys I've been looking at specifically in how they run, Jamar Lackson especially. He's one of the best running backs in the league."
Arizona, as a team, has one of the best defenses in the league according to preseason projections, however their offense is supposed to be the league's worst. In response to that, Pama shrugged. "We're just going to have to get our butt in gear, then, and punch harder than our weight."
