Hey people it's Dale Murphy and I'm here to ramble a little bit about the players I am covering for the Tijuana Lunchadores and NOLA Second Line, and how they and the Lunchadores fared in the preseason.
I was assigned to two defense DSFL players on the Lunchadores, Vincent Jones Jr. and Jonathan Shuffleboard. The Lunchadores played 3 preseason games, and here is how these two players did.
In the first game of the preseason the Lunchadores fell to the Kansas City Coyotes by a score of 9 to 6. This was a disappointing showing by the offense, but I am covering two defenders, so it should not be a very sad experience.
Vincent Jones Jr. had an incredible 14 tackles leading the team in the game, including one sack, the only by the Lunchadores
Jonathan Shuffleboard had 6 tackles.
Good numbers from the two of them, in a good showing from the defense.
In the second game of the preseason the Lunchadores fell to the Minnesota Grey Ducks by a score of 37 to 7. This was another disappointing showing by the offense, but this time the defense decided to join them in sucking.
Vincent Jones Jr. had an incredible 16 tackles in the game including one sack the only by the Lunchadores.
Jonathan Shuffleboard had 8 tackles.
Good tackling numbers from the players, but the defense as a whole did not show up
In the third game of the preseason the Lunchadores won against the Bondi Beach Buccaneers by a score of 24 to 17. Good game from the defense keeping the Buccaneers under 20 points, and the offense did enough with 24 points.
Vincent Jones Jr. had just 6 tackles in the game including one sack, the only by the Lunchadores.
Jonathan Shuffleboard had 8 tackles, a forced fumble and a pass defended.
Jones fell down to earth a bit, Shuffleboard found the other stats on the statsheet.
Speaking of Bondi Beach, I can not help myself but to quote the great Richard "Swanky" Gilbert, "Imagine beating someone so bad in the playoffs that they move to a different continent." From Myrtle Beach South Carolina to Bondi Beach in Australia, the Buccaneers are trying to vanquish the playoff woes after an embarrassing loss to the Lunchadores in the semifinal.
All in all, Jones had 36 tackles in 3 games, with 3 sacks. Numbers like that may have him in the DPOY conversation if he can do that in the regular season. Shuffleboard had 22 tackles, a turnover and a pass defended. Good numbers that the Lunchadores and Second Line will be very happy to see in the regular season.
That was today's Lunch-A-Dore Second Line preseason report, brought to you by Pepsi.
Until next time, signing off,
Dale Murphy
