With two games under the belt some teams shown a hot start while others... Not so much.
Let's take a moment and see some ups and downs on this post Week 2 power rankings.
14 -
Berlin Fire Salamanders (0-2)
After 2 Weeks, Berlín has proven that they can try and put down a fire throwing gas at it. After two 30 plus losses against the New York Silverbacks and the Sarasota Sailfish, we can see some clear weakness on both sides of the ball, being this only their second season I'm going to give them my vote of confidence and expect them to win in the next couple weeks, it will be hard, and a real upset but even then, I can't see them going 0 - 16.
13 -
Baltimore Hawks (0-2)
What can we say about the hawks?
Not a lot honestly as they had a tough schedule coming up, can they be a .500 team? Most surely, but with 2 TD In 2 games, the hawks ain't living to the expectations. Hopefully they get their things together before it's too late to event count.
12 -
Honolulu Hahalua (0-2)
Honolulu gives me a 2019 Green Bay Packers vibe. The talent is there but they doesn't manage to make use of it fast enough. With two close loses against defending champion San Jose at home and a last second one against Austin. It's only a matter of time before we see the hahalua higher on this list.
11 -
Arizona Outlaws (0-2)
Tough week to be an Outlaw that's for sure. Just like Honolulu the talent is there but they ran short twice against two very solid teams.
If it wasn't because both Orange County and New York are yet to be defeated, the outlaws would be lower here. None the less one of the top air offense in the league (and a pretty average defense) makes the Arizona Outlaws take the 11th place in our power rankings, if they climb or fall depends only on the ability of their offense to carry games.
10 -
Philadelphia Liberty (1-1)
It's weird to put the Liberty this high honestly, but here they are! The first team that managed to get an away win before a home one and drafted not only a first round quarterback but another one in a later round (Talk about a rebuilding process) find themselves getting blown by the wraiths and beating New Orleans playing just the first half of the game... Maybe if they merge with Honolulu they could play a whole game but until then. Don't expect to see them any higher than this.
9 -
Sarasota Sailfish (1-1)
If the Chicago Bears played in the ISFL
They would probably be called Sarasota Sailfish.
An elite defense pulled down by a crappy offense, that combined with leading the NSFC in points thanks to a blowout win vs the Berlin Fire Salamanders (it's like winning on a bye week for what it counts) we find the classic example of "stop hitting yourself" with that game, once the season advance and the games get harder we'll be able to see of they are the real thing or it's all just smokes and mirrors helped by an easy win in Week two.
8 -
San Jose Sabercats (1-1)
The Reigning Defending Undisputed Back to Back Champions of the Ultimus find themselves on the bottom half of the season thanks to a revenge from Orange country for the last 2 seasons playoffs. We know that the sabercats are a playoff team, and barely gets into the postseason on the last couple games. We'll see if this year with all their division rivals performing better, they manage to get their hands on the three-peat or they fall short, missing playoffs. But for now, the Cats proven they have their fangs sharp and will fight till the last second for their goal.
7 -
Austin Copperheads (1-1)
The Copperheads lead the league with their rushing offense, and it's not surprising at all that they find themselves at 1-1.
The kings of close games, with a - 1 point differential are a special team. They could be either 2-0 or 0-2 but went for a healthy approach and split the games. With such a small sample we can see the copperheads moving anywhere up or down.
6 -
New Orleans Second Line (1-1)
The second line have the best defense in the ASFC and that's not a lot to say considering how poor defensively that conference is. After a lot of thought I've decided to give New Orleans a bit of a pass and put em over Austin even if I'm not totally convinced about their skill to hold a playoff spot.
5 -
Colorado Yeti (1-1)
The Colorado Yeti left me a bad taste in my mouth. After getting butchered against Chicago they find themselves as a middle of the pack offense getting a lot of help by a top 4 all round defense.
The yeti proven in the past that when things go their way, they can be a really headache for most of the teams.
If their GMs and players do their homework for the next couple weeks I can see them taking the regular season by storm and reaching the NSFC championship game with a first round bye.
4 -
New York Silverbacks (2-0)
The last expansion team takes the number four spot after beating Berlin and Arizona, while not totally convincing the team it's yet to be defeated, boosting hugely their ranking. I expect them to drop a couple positions once they face some tougher competition. Let's hope they can prove me wrong.
3 -
Chicago Butchers (2-0)
Everyone's favorite Chicago team not called the 94' Bulls sits comfy on the number 3 spot.
Having both the best rushing offense and defense of the league so far, the butchers make honor to their name and made Yeti beef for years to come, it would be nice if they've beaten Baltimore with the same ease but the butchers found a bone too hard to cut and shows some space for growth.
2 -
Orange County Otters (2-0)
The Otters sit atop of the ASFC putting more points than anyone else in the league. With wins against Arizona and San Jose not completely convincing. Orange County should call the Teutuls to put some horsepower to their defense if they want to reach an Ultimus.
1 -
Yellowknife Wraiths (2-0)
Here we are, the creme of the croop (so far).
The wraiths defended the city from Philly before they were able to rang the bell (one by land, two by see but what about from air?) and took the town by storm.
After that they flew to Baltimore and cut some hawks wings. Their defense (the best in the league) forces short series and let's their own slowly dismember and spook teams with what's to come. And there's nothing you can do about it.
Let's take a moment and see some ups and downs on this post Week 2 power rankings.
