Hey guys WildfireMicro here and my player in the upcoming ISFL draft is Tsuyu Asui based on the character from My Hero Academia. I am here to look at each potential landing spot for me based entirely on branding and colors. Is this a bit of a pointless way to judge teams? Yes. Yes it is. But hey this is mostly for fun so I am gonna do it anyways.
This is in no particular order and will focus only on ISFL teams, so no DSFL teams. In case you are wondering, my favorite colors in the DSFL are the Royals and the Phythons. Anyways let's get started. Also keep in mind I am not a graphic designer and you should take what I say with a grain of salt.
Orange County Otters
Orange orange and what do you know more orange. This isn't necessarily a bad thing but still its a lot of orange and reminds me of the old Bucs jerseys. You know the Creamsicle? Anyways an otter isn't exactly intimidating (though I wouldn't want to fight an otter personally) but its definitely a classic looking logo. By the way I used to think Orange County was in New York. I know I kept mistaking it for the Red Hook section of New York! Blame the professional wrestler Taz who used a lot of orange.
Baltimore Hawks
A lot of yellow and a bit of a meh logo. When I think of Baltimore I usually don't think of yellow. Then again I have never been to Baltimore so what do I know? A Hawk is pretty intimidating and I wouldn't want to fight one but I just can't get with this logo. I know its been around a while but I just can't get behind it personally. I don't hate it though in the end. Still no one else uses yellow so that's unique. I do like birds though as I have a parrot. Someone should make a parrot team. I'd like that a lot and my parrot could be a mascot.
San Jose Sabercats
Ahh the current defending champions as of this writing. The colors remind me of a way darker version of the Oregon college colors and I like them. I would be intimidated by a Saber Cat but I think they are extinct. If they weren't though they would definitely be pretty scary. I heard the logo is a rip off from an Arena league team, but I can't confirm that. Don't shoot the messenger its just what I heard.
Arizona Outlaws
I usually think of Texas for cowboy Outlaws but Arizona is pretty Wild West as well. The logo is pretty good in my opinion and looks as intimidating as you would believe a old west gunslinger should be. The colors are middle of the road honestly, not bad but not standing out. Hey if I get drafted here I would be eventually playing with my current Royals QB Cortez.
Austin Copperheads
Man if there was team that needed a rebranding it was Austin. The previous generic brown look was...well, boring. The new colors however really stand out and gives them a pretty good and unique identity. I love the use of teal here and whatever this color that is between yellow and orange is. And the logo is pretty good, and I definitely wouldn't want to fight a copperhead. In fact keep copperheads far away from me. Overall great rebranding.
New Orleans Second Line
This team has been around for a while. The purple and gold colors definitely scream New Orleans for me and so does the logo. It looks jazzy and reminds me of partying. Kind of ironic that a new Orleans team is wearing gold and purple when the Minnesota Vikings exist, but oh well. Not much more to talk about here, but pretty good branding. I would talk about intimidation but this logo isn't really meant for that.
Berlin Fire Salamanders
This branding doesn't really scream Germany for me, but I like it. Then again most of what I know about Germany comes from Rammstein so ehh. Still a very unique choice of mascot and I like the colors even if this league has a bit too much red of similar shade for me. I wouldn't be intimidated by a salamander though. Lizards are actually cute to me.
Chicago Butchers
Another red team. I don't know if Chicago is known for Butchers but I know they are known for pizza. The logo is great in my opinion and I would definitely be intimidated by a crazy Butcher chasing me with a knife. Surprised they didn't use the Chicago flag colors though. At least use a star...though that might not fit the ascetic.
Colorado Yeti
And finishing off the red trio. And I just noticed all 3 of the trio are in the NSFC. Huh weird. Anyways I like the logo and I would be intimidated by a Yeti if I knew for sure they existed. But no one knows for sure. Games featuring Butchers vs Yeti should come with thier own eye damage warning. Just all of the red.
Philadelphia Liberty
I am so sorry for all the times I misspelled this teams name as Library. But anyways this team has the classic colors of red cream white and blue and it fits. Did you know that Philadelphia was supposed to be our nation's capital? The cracked Liberty bell is a iconic part of this city so its perfect for this team. Not much more to say here honestly except that I am not intimidated by a bell but that's not the point.
Honolulu Hahalua
Man this teams name is hard to spell. But I like the tropical colors here, but I don’t know about what I guess is a stingray mascot. I say that I'm guessing because I am not 100% what animal it is. Still I like how its jumping through that golden hoop. And I not sure about that name because its just hard to say.
New York Silverbacks
Apes together strong. Sorry I just had to reference that meme. Anyways I love the color combinations and the reference to King Kong. Plus the way the numbers are in the graphics renders is very unique and eye catching. It reminds me of a classic film reel. Silverbacks are extremely scary and intimidating too. One of the last animals I would want to fight.
Sarasota Sailfish
Overall this team's branding just screams "sunny beach" to me. Very unique combination of lime green and blue. I like the fish logo though I wonder why they didn't go with a swordfish. But in the end that doesn't really matter and this team has a good look. If I tried to fight a sailfish I am pretty sure I would drown.
And finally we have the Yellowkinfe Wraiths
Probably the team in the smallest town of them all, I like the spooky logo here. I am surprised this is the only black and blue ISFL team and as a result they have a unique look. The logo is pretty good and ghosts can be intimidating. I do believe in ghosts by the way. Any surprisingly only team from Canada.
Well that's it. All the teams in the ISFL branding and colors judged by a guy with no graphic design experience. I hope you enjoyed and I can't wait for the draft.
