Well here we are the day after the draft and we are sitting on a huge active reddit draft class that should hopefully infuse some good players into the system for the ISFL draft to come next season. To start off with, I had a great talk with numbers when he originally scouted me and I was thrilled to be selected to go to this organization. Now I am not saying that being drafted at 17 was the goal as they also had pick 1, but if you get picked by the team that had the number 1 spot its like getting drafted 1st overall. Or at least that’s what I tell myself at night.
So the Coyotes managed to nab 9 players in this draft and they needed to hit it home because of the call ups of several of their key players in the offseason. Let us break down their positional needs and how they drafted to compensate.
Now I will not lie, I do not know much about football. I had to actually google the official layout of the two teams when they take the field in order for me to actually figure any of this out. Therefore you wont see me analyze any real stats ever because to me they are just a bunch of numbers for now. I promise I’ll get more in depth as I actually start caring about football again (as a registered Falcons fan I reserve the right to actively be disappointed with all things football). How I became a Falcons fan is something of a long story that I won’t recount for the sake of the fact that it has nothing to do with the ISFL. If you want to know the long sob story, you can always hit me up in the DMs.
Team composition before draft

If you look at the roster, they are filled by a bunch of inactive players and bots to fill lines. Their defensive line is basically nonexistent besides a safety and 2 low CB’s. The negatives are many and they have a lot of holes to fill in this draft as we can tell. But they can’t just focus on defense as their offense are all high earners who could be called up any season. So they are pretty much in needs of every position (as is every DSFL team every season). In hindsight ensuring they have a good offense ready to take the place of their 4 top offensive players is more key then setting up a nonexistent defense. You can’t score runs without offense so they say. If you take out the top 4 players on the team the average TPE for the rest of the team falls to a team average of 92 TPE to round out the rest of the positions. So this gives a picture of what the yotes needed. Now this is where I would love to do an analysis of the team compositions of the other DSFL teams but I just simply don’t have the time. I have no idea where the yotes and their TPE lay with the rest of the league. If you look at the yotes in a vacuum they are looking pretty dismal.
So what were they looking at? Well upon further inspection they actually don’t have a QB at all going into this draft. He retired and recreated this season. So that had to be their top choice to replace. So anyone that said that they wouldn’t pick the top QB prospect first was probably wrong. I am doing the research as I write this so I might contradict myself at points as I pick apart this team. Right so there are just a lot of holes now. So lets go and breakdown the draft.’
They had these picks in the draft to supplement their roster. Pick 1, 9, 17,25,33,41,54,57, and 65
Pick #1, 1st Overall KCC picks Luke Quick WR TPE 137
Shocker. Not a QB? I guess if you look at this draft class it was pretty deep with QBs all with a decent chance of becoming active. So while taking the top QB, who could always want to switch later, seems like it would have been the strong choice instead we have a high value wide receiver to help out EKW on the O line. At the time of the pick his TPE was 137, which already puts him over the average of 50 that the other three WR had. Luke is already putting himself through the paces and will be a speed demon who will outclass the other players on the field. The DE’s and Safeties will definitely have a difficult time guarding him this season. So an instant boon to the offense and you don’t have to worry about activity from the player with 600 mil in the bank. And most likely will be capped by the time playoffs roll around in several weeks.
Pick 9 Dexter Hall LB TPE 144
With their second pick of the draft, the coyotes looked to shore up their defense with a rookie who has been generating media and gathering quite a storm of a following. Still not a QB, but at this point only 3 QB’s had been taken and as a quote from one of the GM’s stated “Our guy was still on the table and if it came down to it, KCC is no stranger to trading for QB’s.” I honestly don’t know what that second half means but I guess they have been in these dire straights before of having no QB to speak of. The defense gets their first player lined up. And another player who could conceivably be capped or close to it by playoffs.
Pick 17 Prof Godfrey Gravity DT TPE 137
Hey looks, it’s me. Now I was as surprised as most that I fell to the third round, but not my fault if the other teams did not like that I wrote no media and refused to join locker rooms before the draft. I never said I was not going to pick up the pace once the draft was done. I was just curious what it would look like if I didn’t show any activity besides responding to DMs in discord. Either way another decent TPE pick to help skyrocket this teams new defense.
Pick 25 Troy Abed QB TPE 91
Hey look here is the QB that we were looking for in this draft. Troy was pretty active in the LRs and despite being the lowest earner so far to be drafted, we have big hopes for this young QB. If you were looking to build a community then this is the player that you were looking to draft. So I guess KCC wins again. Troy had a great showing in the prospect bowl and we look forward to getting him the ball often so he can hone his skills while watching his shiny new defense burn the world down.
Pick 33 Siege Cameron CB TPE 57
Siege Cameron has a little bit of work to do before he can easily replace the two CBs that are currently on the yotes roster. But he has a significant advantage in that he has more than the base requirement of 50 TPE which actually almost puts him above average of new starts. Another defensive player here to rebuild that base.
Pick 41 Busch Goose RB TPE 146
Probably the biggest shock of the draft to me is when a player who has earned well in both $$ and TPE drops this far. Now I don’t know different players in the ISFL but you cant deny talent like this. He is a player on the board that has higher TPE than your team average and looks to be a great pickup option when your capped RB gets called up to the big leagues. This helps keep that offense rolling and hopefully well see some good meshing with the new QB Troy Abed.
Pick 54 Logan Steele CB 52 TPE
I don’t want to call it done and over with, but this is the first “inactive” that the KCC drafted so far. Having just done 1 AC check and hasn’t been on the site in 6 days tells me that we might not see a resurgence from this player. Another CB Who might not crack the roster but we can all be hopeful that they return when possible.
Pick 57 Bjorn Borg OL TPE 65
Another inactive having had no site activity for 11 days. Not much we can say about this player. The ends of the draft are dark and scary some times. Yet he still beats the stigma of being inactive on create. At least hes well over the 50 TPE mark by a whopping 30%! That’s a big number.
Pick 65 Ivo Marriott TE 57 TPE
One of the last picks in the draft, Ivo is a classic TE with all the things you would expect a TE to have, like feet and hands. So you know hell be joining us when he can. He joined the LR so maybe there is hope that we get him to come back and start updating, but you never know who you get in these kinds of picks.
Alright so now that the draft is over lets see how we did. Some fun stats. Average TPE of the incoming class for KCC is 98 which is already over the average of the rest of the team without the top 4 players. So already we are boosting the effectiveness of the team just by joining. In a post summary I probably should redo the averages with 250 caps but well let players who are good earners keep their full TPE as its also a measure of activeness of the team. Combined, the draft class for the Coyotes has over $1 billion dollars from the recreates combined with the new rooks. If you are wondering what the breakdown is its 960 mil recreates and 40 mil to the rooks. Not a bad look.
The team managed to pick up 2 strong defensive players and a few new offensive weapons that they look to polish in this new season. Now I am not saying that this makes them the dark horse of the league as once again I do not know the TPE compositions of the other teams, but you can be sure that if they are not setup for this season, then all they need is one more good crop of players to get them into the promised playoff land. Now a note on myself. I managed to be blessed by sim luck when I joined the SHL and won my first season with a basically all rookie team. So now I am praying to the sim god to show us the way.
