Well into a contract year for future Hall of Famer Tatsu Nakamura, reports indicate that contract extension talks have broken down between himself and the Outlaws organization. Still not far off of his MVP season in 2043 Nakamura, who represents himself, has refused to discuss an extension on his contract, which expires at the end of the season.
Insiders report that sources close to the star running back indicate that he's focused on his training and on putting the best product he can on the field on Sundays. "Right now I'm focused on delivering on the promises that me and the rest of this organization have been giving our fans the last few seasons: bringing a trophy back to Phoenix" Nakamura told reporters after last Sunday's victory over the Orange County Otters.
Insider Adam Shephard of ISPN, who was the first to break the news, indicated that he wouldn't be surprised if the veteran running back would be open to considering other options in the open market, especially with running back Deadly Memes having a breakout season and taking a considerable share of backfield carries for the Outlaws. Given the open and legal tampering clauses on Nakamura's contract, it wouldn't be surprising to see teams getting in contact well before free agency begins.
