With one last game in the DSFL season (and partially because I need money.) I've decided to take a look at the DSFL award race for S30. These are only my wholly uninformed opinions so take everything you read here with a grain of salt.
DSFL MVP: Ricky Stanzi-
Of the last ten DSFL MVPs, nine of them have been a Quarterback so the odds are that a QB will win this year's award. With that said, I believe Ricky Stanzi has been the best quarterback in the DSFL this year. He leads the league in passing yards, passing touchdowns and he’s second in QBR and completion percentage.
I could also see Kazmir Oles Jr. getting the award, especially since the Grey Ducks have been fantastic this year but Stanzi has more yards , more touchdowns, and a higher completion percentage.
DSFL OPOY: Vincent Sharpei Jr-
This could also be Oles/Stanzi depending on which of them wins MVP but of the last ten DSFL OPOYs, Quarterback has only won it two times. This might be the year in which it happens again because of how phenomenal Stanzi and Oles Jr. have been. but a lot of Oles success is probably because of how good Malone and Sharpei have been this season. Sharpei leads the league in receiving touchdowns and he's sixth in receiving yards.
I have a hard time arguing against Sharpei in this spot with the open acknowledgement that it could be Oles or Stanzi as well as Mason Malone.
DSFL DPOY: The Laz -
This one seems pretty clear cut to me. He leads the league in interceptions and defensive touchdowns. You could theoretically give it to Sconnie McHits but while Sconnie leads the leagues in tackles, he only has two tackles for loss and zero sacks.
McHits does have three forced fumbles and one recovery but Laz has three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. I have a hard time giving this award to anyone but Laz.
DSFL OROTY: Kazmir Oles Jr. -
This is one of the reasons why I was down on Oles Jr. as MVP. I think he's a lock for rookie of the year and I think the talent of his receiving corps is so good his actual on field production isn't as steller as it looks at first glance.
DSFL DROTY: Sconnie McHits -
If Sconnie is a strong contender for DPOY as a rookie then it seems obvious that he will win defensive rookie of the year. Tessie Garcia deserves a mention here though, six forced fumbles with five recoveries is pretty impressive for a rookie in my eyes.
DSFL QBOTY: Ricky Stanzi -
Again, this could either be Stazni or Oles Jr. Zaylen might get nominated but I doubt he wins the award, He's too far back in yardage and touchdowns in my eyes. I think Stanzi should be quarterback of the year.
DSFL RBOTY: Miracle Whip -
This is where the Grey Ducks team success hurts them in my opinion. It's hard for me to argue against the idea that a lot of Jon Huntsman rushing success came as a result of Minnesota's incredible passing game. Plus, Whip having more yardage on less attempts with a higher average shifts my mind to him as the RBOTY here.
DSFL WROTY: Squidward Tentacles -
Tentacles leads the league in receiving yards and he's third in touchdowns. Malone or Sharpei would make sense here but since they've both been so good it feels like neither of them are the lead receiver on the Grey Ducks. I think Tentacles is far more important to his team then either of them because if Minnesota lost Malone, they'd still have Sharpei and if they lost Sharpei, they'd still have Malone swo I give it to Tentacles but that's just my opinion.
DSFL TEOTY: Gronku Muerto -
This one seems easy. He leads Tight Ends in receiving yards and touchdowns. He's also third in pancakes for Tight Ends though he has allowed a sack.
DSFL OLOTY: Clifford Wilson -
Another easy award in my eyes. Wilson has the most pancakes with ninety-four, thirty two more then second place and he hasn't given up a sack this year.
DSFL DTOY: Godfrey Gravity -
Has the most sacks of any defensive tackles as well as three forced fumbles.
DSFL DEOTY: Will Stein -
Tied for second in stacks but he has twelve more tackles then first place and six forced fumbles with four recorvies.
DSFL LBOTY: Luke Watterson -
Watterson has six more tackles for loss then McHits, four more hits and four more pass deflections.
DSFL CBOTY: The Laz -
I already gave the guy defensive player of the year, it seems obvious he'll win cornerback of the year too. He leads the league in defensive touchdowns, he has the most interceptions and the most pass deflections.
DSFL SOTY: Spike Daniels -
He's tied for the most interceptions by a safety, has nine more tackles then the player he's tied with and five more pass deflections.
DSFL KOTY: Izuku Campbell -
Campbell made twenty-seven field goals to Tate's nineteen. Tate has a higher field goal percentage but he also attempted fourteen less field goals then Campbell.
DSFL POTY: Jack Lewis -
I have no clue how you judge a punter. Rainbow Dash the most yardage but not the highest average or the most punts inside the twenty. Jack Lewis has the longest punts on average so I go with him with a nod to Toy Robot for having the most punts inside the twenty.
