It’s no lie that the players vote for who goes to the Pro Bowl, and it’s clear that for the ASFC, Darren Smallwood is not getting the votes he deserves. Stormblessed has more votes, and that’s silly. Smallwood should be a no brainer for the ASFC pro bowl, and here’s why.
If you look at it in bulk, Smallwood’s stats are promising but not pro-bowl worthy. However, this is ignoring the fact that with 5 weeks left, Smallwood was no longer on the Wraiths and found a new home in San Jose. No one will argue that Hunt is better than Orosz, but Smallwood saw his stats improve to numbers that do put him at the top of his class.
In terms of Yards per Game, Sabercats Smallwood actually has the second highest YPC of any Wide Receiver in the league with receivers with more than one reception. Only Fox North beats Smallwood’s 16.96 YPC.
Secondly, Smallwood was on pace to put up crazy numbers. In 5 games, he put up 424 yards, if he had kept on that pace and played all year as a Cat, he would have put up around 1272 yards, which is third among Wide Receivers, only North and Phelps have more yards.
There are many great WRs this year, Phelps and Weston are easily the most deserving WRs for the ASFC, but there are four slots, and Smallwood is worth your consideration. Thank you.
