The Carlito Crush Diaries
Entry #2 – Not getting picked up?
Dear diary,
Something must be wrong here. I’ve been considered eligible for the DSFL teams to pick me up on waivers for over two weeks now. Did my agent fill out the forms in pen instead of No. 2 pencil? Like what the hell man? Everyone blew all of this smoke up my ass about how I’m a highly sought after recruit and prospect but I’m still sitting here with no home to call my own! This type of shit really pisses me off. I’ve looked at the teams a bunch now, and these guys could definitely use my help. All of them. So why the hell isn’t my phone ringing? Why am I still on waivers? There HAS to be some sort of mistake. My agent says he has zero clue why this is the case. I would think that with the season so close to ending, maybe teams are so focused on the playoffs? Maybe I was missed? Do I look too much like fucking Colin Kaepernick that the owners of these teams think I’m going to kneel for the anthem and cause trouble? You’d think they’d at least call me and ask that type of shit first. I’m pretty sure that’s not really the case, but this feels insane. I really think I should be on a team right now. Maybe I’ll just email the commissioner of the league. My agent says its not my job to do that stuff, and it’ll probably just go unnoticed. That may be so, but what else am I going to do here? Sit around some more? There’s games being played I could be playing in! I just want to get on the field, any field, and make a difference for goodness sakes! Maybe this is a sign. Maybe the NSFL isn’t the place to be for upcoming football players and I should find another league? This is a heap of trash that’s for sure. I’m going to email the commish, agent be damned. See ya.
Entry #3 – Norfolk it is!
Dear Diary,
It worked! Emailing the commissioner was the smartest thing I’d ever done. He was incredibly nice about it, and apologized profusely for everything. I guess the home office just never properly processed my paperwork and as a result, teams didn’t know I was available. I should’ve said something so much sooner than I did. That’s my fault for not trusting my instincts right away. So needless to say, once I was officially put on waivers but the head office, BOOM, lots of interest. And the winners of the Carlito Crush sweepstakes? The Norfolk Seawolves. I mean, seriously? First off, why does Norfolk have a football team, and why did they think Seawolves were a good moniker? Haha, I guess I don’t really care. It feels SO GOOD to be wanted. So Norfolk right now is 5-8, which isn’t the best record. But they’re already clinched for the playoffs, so I’ll get to experience some playoff action! That’s pretty awesome in its own right. They have a TE already, but I think I can out play that guy. No, I know I can. Its going to be tough having only a few days to learn the playbook, but we have a Week 14 matchup against the Portland Pythons, so hopefully I can get some really good practices in during the week, and maybe some people will stay behind with me to get some extra time in. I doubt it though, considering they’ve gone through an entire season so far, and I’m going to just annoy them being all fresh and hyper. Well, off to buy my ticket to Norfolk! See you there!
