As I write this, the Kansas City Coyotes came off a huge win where the defense played really well...
Which makes my vision of revolutionizing the "Moneybacker" A.K.A LB/DB hybrid position more helpful. It's a position that I thought about at my time at TCU where my coach gave me a shot at safety and linebacker and I did solid at both, but there's a lot to learn...
Getting a contract with the Coyotes was the first step, they recognized my work ethic and my versatility and welcomed me with open arms using me in the position that I wanted. My first couple games I struggled, the position is tough to master at this level, this isn't college anymore, but my teammates and coaches have been supportive. With a hybrid position you need to work at two positions at once and increase your knowledge in both, you can't be average at both...
I've been asked by the media why I don't stick to one position...I usually say because I want to stick out, I want to be different but also not a gimmick. I think this position fits my skill set the best and to revolutionize a position, you need to keep at your craft.
Since this position is still being worked into defenses my goal here is to make this position my own and to be the player that people model their game after. It's a long road ahead, but I believe with the right system and development I could make this position into something more than a gimmick...
