There's been a lot of great discussion on Discord today about how there is currently no incentive for active users to take contracts above the minimum required of them.
As a solution to this, I recommend adding new, 'elite tier' training options that focus on individual attributes to encourage users to think about asking for more in their contracts.
I will give an example based on being a WR.
Current Equipment and Training Options Per Season
4 x Professional Equipment = $12m
~5 x Weekly Training = $5m
Total = $17m
Remember, this is targetted at users who are active and large contributors. So it is not unreasonable to assume a league job and moderate to heavy activity in media and GFX. As such, I would list pre-contract earnings as approximately $10m per season, comprised of $4m from the job and $6m from activity around the league.
That leaves a $7m gap to completely max out a player each season. That is a very low bar for the sort of activity we get from our biggest users. For reference, I think I earnt $5m in one night by churning out a media piece so that I could buy a bunch of pro gear.
Recommended Additional Training Options
With recent rule updates, a WR can get +12 TPE in hands for just $3m. As such, I think it's fair to suggest +20 TPE for $5m. After all, 20 TPE is only 2 stat points or less once you're nearing the max for your attributes.
I believe every position can utilise some combination of 6 different attribute increases. For example, a WR would be hands, speed, agility, strength, intelligence, endurance. You could even throw in the two types of blocking instead if you're a masochist.
So, after my initial $17m outlay to get professional equipment and weekly training, I would then need:
If I get $4m from the league, and even up to $16m from consistent, in-depth media or GFX, I'm still nearly $30m short of what I need to max out. Am I going to want to be closer to a $1m or $10m per year contract now?
Also, people could stop simply at hands and speed, or even just one of the two and likely feel perfectly content. It's not an all-or-nothing setup. People can earn up to what they want, and the media section is always there and waiting to pay them should they wish to get some TPE boosts.
At present, as an active user I find that I max out too quickly and am treading water until training camp. I'd love to actually struggle to hit the TPE max each season.
So, what are your thoughts?
