As the title and description suggest, I've decided to step down as GM of the Orange County Otters after the Ultimus game is played for season 9.
I took over from Jbearly and Jiggly at around the mid-way point in season two (week 7 to be exact).
My legacy includes:
S2 5-3 Playoff exit in Conference Championship loss to Arizona Outlaws
S3 8-6 Playoff exit in Conference Championship loss to Arizona Outlaws
S4 9-5 Ultimus Champions in victory over Yellowknife Wraiths
S5 11-3 Ultimus Champions in victory over Yellowknife Wraiths
S6 11-3 Ultimus Champions in victory over Philadelphia Liberty
S7 12-2 Playoff exit in Ultimus loss to Philadelphia Liberty
S8 10-4 Playoff exit in Conference Championship loss to New Orleans Second Line
S9 9-5. Playoffs Pending. Conference Championship to be played in New Orleans.
Overall Regular Season Record: 75-31 .708 Win Percentage
Overall Playoff Record: 7-4 .636 Win Percentage
As the numbers show, I've had a great deal of success as GM of the Orange County Otters. However, I have a lot of people to thank for that success. I'll try to do it in chronological order, and I apologize if I skip somebody. Perhaps I'll edit later if I remember somebody.
@Grapehead
Thanks for drafting me to the Otters, and drafting a very strong cast to build around to achieve championships
@Ballerstorm
Thanks for asking me if I was interested in the position when it opened up. I had been thinking about applying anyway, but this was the extra push that got me to do it.
@ErMurazor @Anti-Hype @Jbearly
Only one of you is still around, but thanks for answering my questions early on when I was deciding if I wanted to be a GM or not. As a first-time sim-leaguer your advice and reassurance was appreciated.
@Jiggly_333
Thanks for sticking around and easing the transition, and keeping with the Otters in many capacities since.
@Roshambo
I know you're gone and probably not coming back, but thanks for Co-GMing with me as we both learned the ropes.
@JBLAZE_THE_BOSS
Thank you for trusting us to get to the Ultimus and not jumping ship. With your help, we created a dynasty for the ages and you've earned that Hall of Fame spot tenfold.
@timeconsumer
What can I say? The best Shadow GM the world has ever seen. Your sim-knowledge and tireless work on strategies won us so many games (approximately 75). Your sage advice saved me from doing too much stupid shit and definitely kept the Otters in contention.
@JuOSu
My first hire for Co-GM. We may not have always agreed on all decisions, but I valued your opinions immensely. No good leader should surround themselves with an echo-chamber that always agrees. You pulled off some great trades for us, and I'm quite thankful for that. Trade-talks might be my least favorite GM job, and you handled them like a champ.
@Bwestfield
My second Co-GM hire. You've always been a great Otter, and you stepped up to take a load off ny shoulders when Juosu wanted to leave to help build another team to greatness. You were always part of the team staff with me, but you finally got paid for it.
@RedCydranth @DrunkenTeddy @Player1 @automatic @BoltyMcSpeedy
You guys have been great. Some/most have gone inactive/returned, but you all showed great loyalty to the team that helped carry us to the best record in the league. We wouldn't be here as the only team to never miss the playoffs without you guys.
@speculadora
I'm handing the reigns to you. I had a few good applications for my Co-GM gig, but yours was absolutely outstanding. A big-boy trade later and you were an Otter and my Co. Not to detract from my other COs, but this has to be my greatest hire. You stepped up immediately and helped out with our short rebuild. I was going to stick it out a few more seasons as GM to help train my replacement, but your success already has shown me the Otters are already in safe hands.
@`Fire-Bred` @JKortesi81 @ralams123
You guys have been great to have around as well! The great draft picks/free agent signings of you guys helped usher in the next wave of Otter dominance. There's still work to be done, but I'm confident in our chances with you guys still here.
Fellow GMs/Head office members
We don't always agree on stuff, but I appreciate you guys listening to my anti-minimum salary rhetoric. Thanks to the GMs that listened to my terrible trade-talks.
You all have been great!
Now that the mushy stuff is out of the way, I can move to next steps.
I'll still be active in the league, Gus T.T. Showbiz has some HoF-sized shoes to fill and I hope to do it admirably. PTs and such don't take too much time so they'll be easy to do. The extra-curriculars of GMing are a bit too much to handle as I make some changes in real-life that won't leave me as much free time as is needed.
As long as PFTN wants me, I'll still be in OCO staff for advice and all.
Thanks again everybody, it's been a good run!
