Linebacker Rock Hardshaft, out of Fresno State University, is no stranger to the spotlight. It seems that he's been in the public eye, for both good and bad reasons, since he was a Senior at Desert Pines High School.
Hardshaft, known then as Joseph Pullman, starred at both linebacker and tight end, as well as a few amateur adult films after he turned 18.
"You know, it was just a choice I made to make some extra cash. Nobody really wants to work at Burger King, and when you're sporting a hog like mine, you go where the money takes you," Hardshaft said when asked about the films.
Rock walked on at Fresno State University after all of his D1 scholarships were pulled from the table after the adult film scandal. He was an immediate success. Breaking into the starting lineup his Freshman year and earning 1st Team All-Mountain West his Sophomore and Junior seasons.
His senior season production fell off, many believe that it's because he found his way back into the adult entertainment industry, but Rock has neither confirmed nor denied these allegations.
When asked about how these rumors may affect his chances with the DSFL, Rock stated, "Look, I'm just trying to get paid to play football. What I do when I'm not on that field shouldn't matter as long as I'm producing on that field. I just hope the powers that be in the DSFL can see what I bring to the table."
Hardshaft certainly looked to have the right mindset to get back on the field, but will his off the field...activities...keep him from performing at the highest level? Only time will tell.
