Aight so look, we won the Ultimini! When I first arrived in Tijuana after meeting with the front office, there was an instant connection and I signed without talking to any other teams. It was towards the end of the season (S15) and there was some shake up at the cornerback position just as I was getting out of college and declaring for the NSFL. Getting the opportunity to be in the locker room with those guys and learning from them enroute to the Ultimini that we sadly lost, it and the off-season individual training with the guys and training camp later on helped pave the way for me to become a starter my official rookie year and be a focul part of the defense. Season started out strong going 5-0 to start the season before losing to the Pythons week 6 at home.
During those first six weeks of the season, the bond that we grew as a team on the field and more importantly, off the field is what I would say have us all we needed to win the season 16 Ultimini. All that fun stuff like practice, film and team breakfast is still important but the true way for all that to happen is having trust amongst each other. Offense lead by quarterback Jordan McCann III who finished with 2,068 passing yards, 12 passing touchdowns with 8 interceptions. He had some solid weapons running the ball all season in being workhorse back Ducky Donut coming in second in the DSFL in yards with 1,572 on 333 carries with 12 touchdowns and a 4.7 yard per carry mark. Osbourn who joined the team midseason shows great potential as he became the number two back and finished with 662 yards and 7 touchdowns in 8 games.
Week 7 saw the start of the Luchadores second win streak of 5 or more games of the season when we took care of the Seawolves at home. Linebackers Jason Carver is first on the team with 76 tackles and J. Burr-Kirven is second 74 tackles. To my own surprise, I never really noticed that I was such an impact on this team as I've been in tunnel vision all season on focusing on shutting down every receiver I faced. Tied for second on the team with 74 tackles as a rookie in my eyes speaks major volume and I believe I should be the first cornerback taken in the draft, if not the first then top three.
My preparation for the San Antonio Marshalls in the first game of the playoffs was a bit extreme as I wanted my game to be spotless to contribute as much as I can to help us to a victory. The Ultimini was a little more laid back as I didn't want to cloud my mind with all this hype talk from the fans, teammates and friends and family. The Ultimini is the biggest game in the DSFL and I definitely did not want a repeat of my walk on season when we lost the ship. Contributors from every position brought home this trophy back to Tijuana. SIX time ULTIMINI CHAMPIONS! Who's won it more times in development and the NSFL? Rookie receiver Jose Forty-Three had a dominating year at wide receiver hauling in 75 for 883 and 5 scores, kicker and punter Joshua Jones was third in FG percentage with 85.2 only missing 4 all season and tieing for the longest FG on the season with 56. With so many talented players on this team, it makes me feel bad that I can't continue on and name everyone. We all deserve high praise for this amazing run.
With the off-season officially here, it's the NSFL draft on my personal calendar and a tough debate on rather to return to Tijuana for a repeat or take my talents to wherever I'm drafted and grind to be better than I was the day before. Thanks to every player in Tijuana and management for this amazing life achievement. Now onto getting some sigs done for me lol. (655ish)
