Copperheads Win!

Emotions abound from players to fans to sports writers as Austin Copperheads win their first ever game following 0-13 inaugural season.
The beer flowed as freely as the tears in Austin today as the Copperheads snapped their unfortunate winless streak as a franchise with an incredible come from behind victory over New Orleans.
It was a hard-fought game with the Secondline gaining a 24-14 lead in the third quarter. That's when the comeback started. Beginning a drive at their own 31 yard line, Austin QB Easton Cole marched the team down the field in a 12 play, 5 minute long drive that ended with a 16 yard touchdown pass to RB Ashley Owens. Despite a 4th quarter interception, the Copperheads' defense remained stout and held off New Orleans. With just 5 minutes left in the game Cole put it in the endzone again with a laser pass to WR Rod Tidwell to give Austin the lead. New Orleans had the chance to come back in the final 2 minutes but LB Honda Edmond burst through for a monumental sack on 3rd down, which forced a long and ultimately unsuccessful 4th down conversion attempt. The Copperheads walked out to thunderous cheers and a 28-24 victory.
That's not where the win ended though. Austin fans were far from done as the stadium and streets outside exploded with celebrating fans. Police either couldn't contain them or didn't want to, as fans spilled forth into the city like a cathartic wave of joy following a miserable 0-13 inaugural season.
The Austin Star's own Martin McFly was on the scene, and described it as raucous to the extreme.
"It's like a dream..." One fan said in an interview, "I can't help but feel like someone is going to turn back the clock and take this win away from us. But they can't, they won't, it's our win and it's ours forever. They can never take it away from us."
In a post-game interview, Copperheads LB Sandip Bakshi was more modest and remained focused, "We pulled out the right plays at the right time to walk away with the win. I feel great for fans and for the guys here who have worked so hard to win, but there's 12 more games in the season so we have to keep this positive momentum and win some more."
Whatever the future brings for the Copperheads, one thing is certain: Their days as a winless franchise are gone, and they're never coming back.
