"Hello ladies and gentlemen, this is Bjørn Ironside reporting in from the S18 Sports Center. We are back with a follow up from one of our first ever Blindsides! Lightsout Lewis has tested free agency, he's gotten to experience the market, and now he's coming back to us with that exclusive on his team announcement. He was incredibly excited and seemed sold on this team well before he made his final decisions. Let's dive in and see how everything worked out for him!"
Ironside: "You've managed to dive in an enjoy free agency for the first time in your career. What as that been like for you so far?"
flyeaglesfly29: “It has been amazing. I've had a lot of amazing folks reach out and I appreciate all of the interest. This has been probably the most fun I've had in the league so far!”
Ironside: "For the rookies who are going through the stress of the draft right now, how would you compare your free agency with what they have experienced in the draft process?"
flyeaglesfly29: “Both of them are hectic in their own right, but the huge difference is that I have the ability to choose. The rookies don't get that luxury, but you can also find yourself in a place that you end up loving when your "forced" to go somewhere through the draft. Regardless, they are both awesome experiences so enjoy it!”
Ironside: "Now that you've gotten a look at it, is free agency something you'd say everyone should experience at least once?"
flyeaglesfly29: “To each their own for sure! I would recommend free agency but I can understand someone wanting to stay with one team for the long run.”
Ironside: "As one of the top free agents in this off season, were you surprised by how many teams reached out? Was it more or less than you expected?"
flyeaglesfly29: “Being open and honest everyone except one team reached out. It was about what I expected and I loved getting to know some of these GMs even better!”
Ironside: "At this point, you have officially decided to leave Chicago behind. What factors led to that decision and do you think you would ever go back there in the future?"
flyeaglesfly29: “At one point the decision to leave Chicago seemed hard however, with the moves that were made to take Chicago into rebuild mode it just was not going to happen. I am happy that I am getting to experience another team but I won't say that a future in Chicago is completely out of the question. It's just not something I'm focused on at this time.”
Ironside: "As you began to settle in on teams, what really made pitches stand out to you as a player? What was most important to you? Winning, money, or potential championships?"
flyeaglesfly29: “To be completely the things that stood out to me the most were the awesome conversations I was having with people. Connecting with one another more than just talking about a contract. That was what ultimately won me over because being in a locker room with a great group of guys is huge! Also the chance at winning a championship is certainly important.”
Ironside: "Alright, well let's get to what everyone is here for. You have decided to sign with the Yellowknife Wraiths. What brought you to the decision to head that way?
flyeaglesfly29: “Just being totally transparent, when free agency started Yellowknife was the last place that I thought I would be signing. However over the last few days I have come to really enjoy the guys there and I can't wait to get to work with them!”
Ironside: "There must be something about the roster in Yellowknife that you like, who are you most excited to team up with there?"
flyeaglesfly29: “There are definitely things that I like about the Wraiths roster! They are set at QB with the best young guy in the league in Cooter and they have a very legit receiving core as well. But on my side of the ball there are some studs there and I can't wait to team up with these guys! Nero, Leaf, Snuggles, Grithead just to name a few and the draft hasn't even begun yet. We are loaded!”
Ironside: "The Wraiths recently had another crushing home loss in the playoffs which resulted in an early exit. Do you think you can help them finally get over that hurdle?"
flyeaglesfly29: “I do! I mean we can't control why the sim does, but adding a player of my caliber certainly can't hurt, right?”
Ironside: "Finally, is there anything else you would like to say to your new teammates or the league?"
flyeaglesfly29: “Thank you for welcoming me to Yellowknife and I can't wait to get to work with this awesome group of guys! It's time for the rest of this league to fear the Wraiths!”
"With one of the best young Safeties heading to Yellowknife, I think they immediately upgrade a roster that looked playoff bound again. With back to back years facing home losses, they needed to find some upgrades to help take that next step. Perhaps a dynamic playmaker like Lewis can help them get the monkey off their back. We'll keep bringing you the news as long as you keep reading. Until next time, Ironside signing off."
