hello all,
a while ago, we received a complaint of Buttersquach tampering a player under contract with the San Jose Sabercats. After reviewing the various evidence, we have come to the conclusion that Buttersquach did try to convince a player under contract to join the New Orleans Second Line. The conversation was initialized by the player, but Buttersquach clearly continued it and added new talking points with the purpose of persuading the player in question to join the Second Line. For this reason, we have decided to punish Buttersquach with the following:
-$5M fine
-barred from taking a GM position in S18 and S19
-must be approved by HO if taking a GM position in S20
We do not have a specific punishment for tampering. We have had two cases of this before, but both were different as they included a GM in them. We felt that it would not be right to punish the team for any wrongdoing of its players. Past precedents had included removing draft picks, 2 game suspensions, barring from GM position, cap fines, and loss of GM pay. We removed the options for loss of draft picks, suspensions, or cap fines, due to the aforementioned thought process of not punishing the team for the player's actions. We chose to keep the barring from holding a GM office, and also felt like a fine was in order. With GM pay being $5M, we felt that was a fair amount to levy.
Just a reminder, since I have seen this sentiment spread by others. There seems to be a thought process held by some that you cannot tamper if you do it in a public chat. This is not true. It does not matter where you do it, tampering is tampering.
Past tampering punishments:
Bzerkap/TLK Conflict of interest
dropbear Tampering Punishment
As always, if buttersquach wishes to appeal this decision, he can contact the appeals board head, iamslm22, to present his case.
Thank you
