Eric Richards just got done with practicing in his backyard setup when his Pa, Dean Richards, calls him into the living room.
"I just want to talk to you about not getting homesick when you move away from here when you get selected. Your probably going to be far away from here..."
Eric sighed "yeah and I never have lived anywhere but Shepherdsville and Lexington. I didn't think about that..."
"What you getting second thoughts?" Dean said "you made this bed now lay in it"
"Naw Pa i am not worried about me. I'll be fine. I am worried about you" Dean was taken aback by that "you and Ma have always needed my help with projects around the house, but now that I will be leaving, who is gonna do them?" Dean sighed. He definitely hasn't thought of that
"Look son wherever you go, don't worry about us at all worry about yourself. We can get your cousins to help"
"Bret and Bart?" Eric chuckled "they haven't done manual labor in Lors knows how long, with them working in that fancy company"
"Well still we can make them work" Dean said "worry about yourself and your team before us"
"You know I can't just do that Pa" Eric says "I actually have an idea but first can you call Ma down" Dean called Jame Richards down to the living room from her phone call in their bedroom.
"Yes sweetheart what is it?" Jane asks
"Ma, PA i know you two have never lived anywhere but Kentucky but if you'd like, wherever I am drafted I will buy you a house in the same city" Dean and Jane are shocked by this offer
"Are you sure you would have the money Eric?" Jane asks "You know that Development League players don't make quite as much as National league player..."
"Sure I am sure!" Eric smiles "trust me I'll have enough, and you will be able to watch my games like you do at Kroger Field!"
"Eric i have never lived outside of this state and I got hurt out of my only chance to do so" Dean smiles "I would love to finally see more of this world"
"Even if I go to London Pa?" Eric smirks
"Boy I'll be drinking tea all day if it means that I don't have to miss my boy working his way to becoming a great man." Dean says determined "it's something I won't miss this for the world"
"And it will be great to see the world outside of this small town" Jane agrees "all the nice locales"
"Well it's official. We will work on it when we figure out where I am going" Eric says as he goes upstairs to do some research on some of the DSFL towns and their landmarks
"I think we raised a fine young man honey" Dean says as he kisses his wife
"He takes after you" Jane giggles "you were so sweet at his age"
"Heh guess I am" Dean laughs "personally I hope he goes somewhere with a beach, but I am not picky"
"it doesn't matter where we go, as long as we have each other" Jane smiles "though I do hope we have a separate house from Eric. Would be nice to have some peace and quiet"
"Yes it would honey" Dean laughed "yes It would.." They then go to see what Eric's doing, glad they don't have to be too far away from him.
