Growing up Dexter was always around football and sports. His dad, Action Jackson, was a very talented wide receiver at Georgia then professionally with Nola, Chicago, SJS and YellowKnife. His most productive seasons was in SJS but he won a championship with the Wraiths. Helping them to finally overcoming their curse and winning it all.
While Action was in YellowKnife, Dex stayed behind in SJS with his mom and went to school there. Dex was always the bigger guy abd he was definitely a man among boys in high school earning All-State three of his four seasons. Coming out of high school he was heavily recruited by the big schools. That includes Georgia where his dad went.
Feeling he would be under to much pressure at Georgia he decided to go to Alabama. Coach Saban was calling to chat every other day and he just felt comfortable there. While Action was disappointed he also supported and cheered his son on, even against Georgia.
His freshman season was different than he was use to. He played mostly special teams getting 25 tackles from there. He did start one game and made 8 tackles with 1 for a loss. Working hard through the off season he earned Coach Saban trust and became the starting middle linebacker. With him leading the way on defense they cruised through the SEC to the championship game, against Georgia. They lost that game 21-14 but he put in the effort getting himself 12 tackles, 3 of which for a loss and 2 sacks. This would be the game to put him on the radar. They went on to win their bowl game against Wyoming, who somehow had become a mediocre powerhouse.
His junior season would be his last at Alabama as he shot up the draft charts. Leading the Crimson Tide defense, Dex amassed 146 tackles, 15 of which was for a loss, 7 sacks and 3 interceptions. Earning himself All-American honors and DPoY along with LBoY. Having the personal awards was nice but he wanted a chip.
Facing off against none other than Wyoming again. This time for a more serious reward though. In the third quarter down 14-7 Dex shot the A gap and drove the quarterback into the running back who was expecting a handoff. During the collision he fumbled and a defensive lineman recovered. Later in the 4th quarter with Bama up 21-14 but Wyoming driving and at the Bama 34 yard Dex recognized the formation and seen the running back had his right fingers twitching, a tell all that hes running right. Dex called a audible to a overload blitz to the right. The cornerback blitzing caused him to cut back in where Dex had come between the tackle and TE to make a bone jarring hit. The replay was similar to Clowney hitting the Michigan RB. It was shown on ESPN for weeks. Alabama won 28-14 getting Dex all he had set to accomplish at the collegiate level. Now he wants to prove he can play on the next level. Are you going to be on the receiving end of his hits or the one watching him hit? Dont miss out on this guy.
