Sup everyone this is Dick Jamison with ISFL Network here with Action and his son Dex who is about to go to the DSFL draft. We wanted to see how the two different experiences are for these two men.
Dick: Thanks guys for doing this with us. How are you guys?
Action: I'm doing well Dick. You know just enjoying life and retirement. Doing some projects for you guys and things. Living life.
Dex: Man im just preparing for the draft. Trying to stay in shape and show why I should be a top pick in the draft.
Dick: So Dex have you gotten any tips from your dad since he has experienced this himself once before?
Dex: We have talked about it some you know. He said mainly keep my head down and keep grinding. He wasn't a very sought after prospect, no disrespect pops, as I feel I should be. He shared catches with Dexter Banks at Georgia so he wasn't the main focus of the scouts.
Action: (laughs) No disrespect taken youngster. I've gave him all the tips and advice I could. Its on him to listen or not and thus far he's done well.He's been in the weight room pumping weights and with his trainer improving where scouts said he was weak. I believe he's worked his ass off for a first round selection for sure.
Dex: I don't want to take away from any other prospect as we have all worked hard to be here but flat out im one of the best out there on the field.
Dick: For sure your a top prospect in alot of eyes. Ok so Action you was a 6th round DSFL pick. Take me back to that day.
Action: Man I was so excited and pumped that day. I truly thought I would be off the board in the first three rounds for sure. I'm sitting back stage and all these names are called one by one. I wait and wait for nothing. The fourth round passes and im pissed. All these bums was picked before me and i knew I was better but began to wonder. I left and went to a bar downtown. Halfway through a bottle of Crown Royal I see something on the TV. " with the whatever high ass pick I was, Portland Pythons take Wr Action Jackson.". Im in the wind at this point but I slam the bottle on the bar and scream, " About damn time but why the hell I gotta to Portland? Whats there besides cold and rain?"
Dick: So you was pisses it was in Portland?
Action: Well yes and no. Yes because its so far away and cold lol. Turned out though i fell in love with the place. If was fun competing with Saba and Mongo. Plus the great Armstrong was my QB That season.
Dex: Sometimes waiting is the best thing to happen to someone. While I will say I will be upset if not a one through three round pick I will just have to remind myself of his story and how it turned out. Its not how you start but how you finish that counts. A wise man told me that once. ( Laughs looking at Action).No matter what I will be putting in the work to be the best. Another trait passed along to me, work ethic. Just because your a high pick does not mean you can jog through practice or sleep in meetings. The best player plays, not the higher pick.

One thought be was deserving of a high pick and was humbled(and drunk) after not hearing his name really late in the draft.
