No matter the time, no matter the place, the war between fast food chains shall always persist. One such feud that is especially never ending is that of the chicken sandwich. It seems every decade or so the war of quickly made chicken sandwiches pops back up in the mind of consumers and starts full blown debates on every social media platform known to man. And of course, in return, fast food chains begin pumping out "new recipes" or new advertising campaigns to meet the sudden demands of the hungry consumer. In the midst of this reoccurring war, one company in-particular finds themself trying to figure out how to stand out from the crowd. This company, of course, is Wendy's.
No one is more famous for their advertising of fast food than Wendy's to many. Whether it be out of touch marketing or a witty and sarcastic Twitter account, Wendy's always seems to find themselves in the upper echelon of the conversation. However, the year is 2045. Wendy's, who would find it's company being the ripe age of 76 now, has started to fall flat with it's marketing. Despite being a trend setter so many years ago, they've struggled to break out of that mold and set the trend again, because almost all of their attempts are met with displeasure of the company trying to be "hip with the kids" again. That wouldn't stop Wendy's though from continuing to do just that and resort to something that, at the time, was so hip with the kids, it caused Wendy's to completely change the way they advertise.
"Eats spicy goodness...Like a boss!"
A line so powerful, it really was the pinnacle of advertising. Perhaps if they were to lean on this once more, they could show that they still "get it", that they aren't completely blind of what the consumer wants. And what perfect timing as well! They can release a new spicy variant of their new chicken sandwich, and claim their spot at the top of the fast food war once more! It truly is the perfect plan, but there is something that could make it even better...
Enter the man who completes the plan: Mike Boss Jr. Wendy's is known for sponsoring sporting events, but working hand-in-hand with a specific player is not something they've exactly done before (or at least according to the writer's research). However, Boss Jr. presents the perfect opportunity to make their old "funny maymay" into something more than just that. Because now, you're not just eating spicy goodness like a boss, you're eating spicy goodness like a Mike Boss Jr. And for Boss Jr., who is a championship winning QB for the popular (and winning) sports team the Sarasota Sailfish, it gives him the opportunity to be even more exotic than his father. Something that sets him apart even further in legacy, which is something he's long sought. Having to be compared to such a historic player on a daily basis, especially when it's his father, is something Boss Jr. hates more than anything. So when opportunity comes knocking to set him apart, it's like finding a nugget of gold. And as an added bonus, it also gives fans the chance to feel closer to Mike Boss Jr., something that many fans seek on an hourly basis. No more needing to live completely through Boss Jr., because now they can enjoy the same meal as Boss Jr. It's the perfect partnership, even if Boss Jr.'s rates are outrageous a bit pricier than most.
As the advertising campaign begins alongside the kickoff of this brand new season, Wendy's and Mike Boss Jr. look forward to a very profitable partnership that will no doubt lead both sides all the way to the top. Until next time, always remember to eat your spicy goodness like a Boss Jr.
