My last journal just about wraps up the story of Glenn McPoyal thus far. In my last entry I just about wrapped up my college career. It's crazy how my whole college career will be boiled down into a single diary entry. Graduating college was amazing in itself. It felt good to be able to throw my hat up in the air and cheer with everyone. The only thing that sucked about graduation was the four hours of sitting there and waiting and waiting and waiting. I'm sure you've all been through that horror. After graduation I didn't have much to do. I put my name in for Nsfl draft. I had gotten some interest from just a couple of teams. The manager of Chicago blues contacted me. Their not a team now. They moved to Palm Beach and are now the Palm Beach solar bears. And I believe, although I'm not for sure, he runs the Kansas City coyotes. He sent me an email asking for some information. I was not interested in playing for them. I had two destinations on my mind. The San Antonio Marshals or the Portland Pythons. The San Antonio Marshals because my cousin Gregory Fletcher had been their cornerback the prior year ( the best corner back in the league I might add). And the Portland Pythons for a couple of reasons. They had just won the national title and I feel like I could help them get back. And two because If I got there I would have some huge shoes to fill by prior Portland python member Carlito Crush. The other team that had interest in me was non other than the Portland Pythons. I got a email from them and I immediately respond to the general manager. He seemed to have interest in me but didn't know if he would be able to snag me. It seemed like he had other needs in the draft. I didn't feel too confident about that. I had actually thought that I would be a top six pick in the draft. To go in the first round. So here comes draft night. I'm with all my family (including Gregory Fletcher) and we're at a restaurant that Gregory Fletcher actually paid to have the whole restaurant to ourselves. The first round comes and Portland has the fourth pick. After the first overall pick in the draft the Portland Pythons traded up. I knew when they traded up that it was not going to be me. Sure enough it was not. Another thirteen draft picks went by and I still wasn't picked. Portland up to that point hasn't had another pic in the draft. With the fifteenth pick in the draft the Portland Pythons drafted me. Possibly the biggest steal in the draft. I couldn't believe I went so low in the draft. I was a little surprised that I feel so low but I'm happy about it too because I went to the number one team that I was interested in. Not saying I'm going to be the next Carlito crush but I absolutely plan on being a good member for the Portland Pythons. Me and my family celebrated the entire night after I had been drafted. It was great. The next step was to move me and my wife to Portland. They flew me out there to sign my contract of three million dollars. I got a signing bonus so I was able to use that to move out to the great city of Portland. In my next entry I will be discussing my teammates and my first two games as a Portland Python.
