Well, it finally happened I missed doing one of these posts within 24 hours of games being played. I apologize to the fans of the series, life is hard and I'm pretty busy these days. So, let's put that blooper behind us and do all three weeks is one collective chunk. Ok? Cool.
1.
Yeti QB Micycle McCormick (Prev.: 2nd) (@infinitempg)
The mad lad did it. He's taken the lead in this race by sheer force of volume. I struggle to imagine what the Yeti would look like without Micycle McCormick, but I'd be willing to bet that the Outlaws would have competition for the #1 overall pick, thereby making him the most valuable player. (Oh, we'll get to the Outlaws, don't worry.) McCormick is getting passing yards by the barrel-full, with his fourth 400 yard game of the season in Week 10 (434 for the perfectionists out there), and he hasn't dipped below 350 passing yards since Week 8. And perhaps best of all, the wins are finally starting to come for the Yeti. Maybe winning three of their last five is nothing to write home about, but it's a far sight better than the 1-6 they started the season at. McCormick is still on pace for a 5,000 yard season, and with the Yeti beginning to pull it together, they could wind up in great shape come next season.
2.
Hawks QB Childish Gambino (Prev.: 1st) (@Renrut)
This race is really going to come down to the wire, because I assure you, Childish Gambino is by no means out of the running. The Hawks are still winning and are now tied for the NSFC lead after a couple of Philadelphia hiccups. Childish is averaging about 300 yards per game over the full season, and is still leading his team to victory, but what's hurting his MVP chances is his own teammate. We'll talk more about Marquise Brown in a second, but Gambino has only thrown one touchdown in each of the last three games, despite good passing yardage numbers (again, he averaged about 300 yards over the last three games). While it's true that the Hawks still won those games, and I don't think they're too upset with that result, on an individual person basis, this hurts the Great Gambino's chances of taking home the really shiny trophy. But, he'll get a crack at the Outlaws next week, and as we've seen, the Outlaws can really help someone's MVP chances (again, we'll get to the Outlaws soon enough).
3.
Hawks RB Marquise Brown (Prev.: 4th) (@YoungTB)
Do you think this is gonna cause a rift in the Hawks locker room? I mean, they seem like they've got a good thing going, they're 9-3 and likely to make some noise come playoff time. But, it might sting just a tiny bit to Gambino that Marquise Brown is scoring touchdowns a lot more frequently then he is. In each of his last three games, Brown has found paydirt twice, while putting up more than respectable rushing yards to boot (109, 107, and 85 yards in those three games, while staying around four yards per carry). He's second in the majors in rushing yards, and is running away with the lead in rushing touchdowns, his 13 is five more than his closest competitors. But maybe the craziest part of his numbers is that Brown doesn't break off huge runs (his longest rush of the season is only 22 yards). He instead picks up a tidy six or seven yards at a time, and almost never gets tackled before the line of scrimmage. He's one tough runner.
4.
Otters QB Gus T.T. Showbiz (Prev.: NR) (@Molarpistols)
Well, I didn't see this coming, and there is now no reason why Gus T.T. Showbiz shouldn't be in the MVP running after the other-worldly beating his Otters gave the Outlaws. 37/55 for a redonkulous 471 yards, seven actual touchdowns, and a single paltry interception that almost feels like it was given out of sympathy, and was quickly rectified with a three and long out. This was a beating in the biblical sense, it was a brutal sight to watch, and you can't even say that this happened because "it was against the Outlaws". Every team has faced the Outlaws this season. San Jose beat them by 38, Colorado by 48, but no one's come anywhere near the 69-point (nice) thrashing the Otters gave them. Orange County set an all-time NSFL record for largest margin of victory and most points in a regular season game this week (correct me if I'm wrong, but I looked through every schedule of every season, and I couldn't find any other games where someone put up 70 at all). Showbiz had the new Performance of the Year front-runner, but if you think Mr. Showbiz is a one-hit wonder, you're sadly mistaken. He had another 400+ yard, five touchdown show-stealer in Week 6 against New Orleans, and is currently leading the league in passing touchdowns, is second in passing yards, and third in passer rating. Don't sleep on Showbiz.
5.
Sabercats QB Joliet L. Christ (Prev.: 3rd) (@`AndrewWarren13`)
The shine is very much off the apple when it comes to both Joliet L. Christ and the San Jose Sabercats as a whole. They both got off to a white-hot start, with dazzling performances by Christ in the first three weeks that put the Sabercats at 3-0. But the Sabercats have just been sputtering since then. They now sit at 7-5 and will most likely limp their way into the playoffs after coming into the season with lofty expectations. Christ hasn't been playing bad per se, but he's just not running the ball like he used to. He had a three game stretch where he failed to crack 35 rushing yards despite getting plenty of carries in all three games. That stretch was broken with a pretty darn good 79 yard, one touchdown performance against Baltimore that ultimately came in a losing effort. And when Christ has to rely on his passing numbers to get by, that's not going to cut it when we're talking about an MVP. He's currently sixth in passing yards and fifth in passing touchdowns. His lone saving graces on the passing side are that he still leads the league in completion percentage and fewest interceptions, so at least he's careful with the ball.
6.
Wraiths LB Alex Selich (Prev.: NR) (@Tomen)
I wanted to see if Alex Selich was in the hunt for the all-time sack record, as his league-leading 15 is a pretty good number. The record was set back in Season 3 by Jayce Tuck who had 32. So, maybe not Alex. The Yellowknife record is 23, set by Bork Bjorrnsson, which might be just out of range, but his 15 sacks on the season is still nothing to scoff at. Selich has been getting to the quarterback pretty regularly, picking up five sacks in his last three games, and he's taken down the quarterback at least once in each of his last seven games. It might take a bit of divine intervention to get to the Yellowknife record, but if he can get to at least 20 sacks on the season, which I don't think is impossible, I'm sure there'll be a few voters out there who'll be happy to give a defensive player some love. Either way, I think he's still the front runner for Defensive Player of the Year, and has still terrorized many a quarterback this season.
