When you go through your career, you interact with a lot of players. Some are team-mates, some are opponents, some are enemies. But do you really know much about your player? I realized that throughout my career, I may notice a bit of every game. I will look at box scores. I will celebrate my good games and I am sad when I don't do well. But ultimately, I would not be able to tell you what team or what player I did well against and which I didn't. And ultimately, I don't like this. So I set out to find out and let me tell you, it was a bit of work again.
Let's start with my first player. Julian O'Sullivan was a linebacker that played from Season 3 to Season 13. I played a few seasons for the Orange County Otters and then went to the New Orleans Second Line in a trade. At the time of my retirement, I was number 1 in tackles in the league, but I also had a lot of other stats, including tackles for losses, sacks and interceptions. But I wouldn't be able to tell you anything about who they were against. So I checked every play by play of every game I ever played and made a list. And here is that below now with commentary.
First off, tackles:
R. Mackworthy 88
O. Taylor 83

C. Tanner 4
E. Lagerfield 4
K. O'Connell 4
T. Atwell 4
C. Rove 3

J. Askins 3
J. Garden 3
S. Weston 3
V. Squanch 3

M. Boss 1
A. Winchester 1
B. Westfield 1
D. Koch 1
D. Law 1
E. Maddox 1
F. Hasselhoff 1
J. Baker 1
J. Bishop 1
J. von Matt 1
J. Young 1
M. Newman 1
S. Hardwick 1
S. Moore 1
W. Stone 1
Y. Nagasawa 1
So there it is. I somehow managed to tackle 114 different players at least once. The one who I tackled most is legendary running back Reg Mackworthy, who I tackled 88 times. @Esa77 was a fantastic player and we played against each other a lot especially in early seasons. Close behind him in second place with 83 tackles was Owen Taylor or @manicmav36 - my very close friend, which made me chuckle a little. Who knew that you were so close to the guy I tackled most in my career! All this time we have known each other and I had no idea! After this there is quite a gap until we get to Marquise Brown or @YoungTB with 40 tackles.
Next is tackles for loss:
M. Grau 6
R. Mackworthy 2
O. Taylor 2
A. Savea 2
B. Nuck 2
R. Rainey 2
R. Adams 2
S. Joyce 2
L. Strike 2
C. Milan 2
E. Kennedy 1
A. Summer 1
S. Zephyrous 1
J. Yates 1
C. O'Sullivan 1
O. Wright 1
K. Fitzpatrick 1
J. Christ 1
Only 18 players in this category and we see the first odd outlier. Mark Grau was a running back who somehow I tackled for a loss six times, three times as much as any other player. Why? I am honestly not sure. @keanex is the user and I am not sure if he would know either. Also notable that aforementioned Marquise Brown is not on this list. 40 tackles against the running back and none were for a loss, pretty impressive. Though I guess the two 80+ tackle guys only had two for loss in that time too, so that is crazy too.
Let's get to quarterbacks and who I sacked the most:
K. Bronko 12
C. Orosz 10
M. Akselsen 8
R. Applehort 8
A. Blocksdale 8
G. Showbiz 4
B. Maximus III 4
L. Noble 4
K. Fitzpatrick 2
M. McCormick 2
N. Pierno 2
B. Pennington 2
A. Falconi 2
C. Rove 2
C. Gambino 2
S. Kyubee 2
T. Oles 2
J. Christ 1
E. Hunt 1
M. Boss 1
20 different quarterbacks got sacked by me. King Bronko stands at the top with a whopping 12 sacks against him. @ADwyer87 sorry for making your life hell! Chris Orosz also got sacked 10 times, in 2nd place for @Aenir . Also notable is that the two quarterbacks that I played with in my career, I also both got sacks against. Borkus Maximus III I sacked four times and Mike Boss I sacked once.
Who did I force fumbles against? Less people:
G. Showbiz 2
M. McCormick 1
M. Grau 1
A. Savea 1
B. Nuck 1
Z. Brannigan 1
F. Harris Jr. 1
C. Law 1
Showbiz was the only one I did it against twice. I also did it against NOLA legend Artie Savea which made me chuckle. Maybe I finally find out why they got me on NOLA, I kept doing well against them!
Interceptions was a category I was especially curious about:
N. Pierno 3
K. Bronko 2
M. Akselsen 2
C. Gambino 2
C. Orosz 1
R. Applehort 1
K. Fitzpatrick 1
B. Pennington 1
S. Kyubee 1
J. Christ 1
M. Boss 1
B. Bottles 1
Nick Pierno stands at the top as the only guy I intercepted three times. @ralz9 sadly was the victim of my good hands a few times. But an interesting list nonetheless.
Safeties? I had two in my career, oddly both happened in the same season. One was against aforementioned long-term team-mate Borkus Maximus III @bovovovo and one was against Mat Akselsen.
And touchdowns? I also had two in my career, funnily enough one happened in my first season and one in my list. The two victims? Sam Kyubee and Jameis Christ.
That's it for my first player Julian O'Sullivan.
My second player was Stan Francisco. I was only ever on the New Orleans Second Line and was their quarterback for a long time as well. There are less statistics here that I have, and also this took far less time and effort lol. Thankfully this was easy to do but I was also super curious.
Let's start with the people I am less happy with, the defensive players that intercepted me the most:
T. Okura 5
J. Storm 4
D. Lavelle Jr. 3
J. Wozniak 3
D. Schneider 3
Q. Sinclair 3
T. Staley 3
Q. Hughes 2
V. Moreno 2
K. Dream 2
D. Scarlett 2
S. Dawkins 2
T. Biggums 2
T. Brackenridge 2
X. Ridley 2
L. Lewis 2
R. Vans 2
W. Howyanow 2
H. Mughes 2
P. Parker 2
D. Grithead 2
M. Brown 2
S. Koniecpolski 1
H. Mango-Panda 1
J. Nkiah 1
T. Oles Jr. 1
T. Shields 1
G. Wilf 1
E. Emoji 1
J. Andrews 1
P. Vegeta 1
J. Rambo 1
M. Arianlacher 1
L. Grievous 1
A. Sexjoke 1
N. Beat 1
O. Grimnir 1
J. Snuggles 1
B. Barnes 1
L. Garnett 1
L. McKinnie 1
K. Knurtsson 1
K. Deringer 1
C. Jensen 1
C. McCoy 1
G. Showbiz 1
A. Robertson 1
T. Pennington 1
M. Mack 1
L. Lejune 1
J. Rice 1
51 players got an interception off of me which seems like far too many haha. I honestly don't recognize the names of the top guys but I guess congratulations to @Jaspers who got a record 5 interceptions off of me. J. Storm is second with 4 interceptions so congrats @Daybe to that cool fact. I feel like I recognize more names in the 3 category below that with legends like Lavelle Jr. and Schneider in there.
But now the more fun category. Who caught my touchdowns? Who did I actually throw to?
Jones 31
McCormick 23
Fyodorovich 21
Gump 19
Toriki 13
Podolak 10
Barker 9
Rodriguez 6
von Matt 5
Valentine 4
Swift 4
Wolfcastle 3
Halvorsen 2
Jackson 1
Alexander 1
In the end it was only fifteen different receivers that caught a ball from me for a touchdown. It really brought back a lot of memories of guys that maybe spent less time on the team with me. I am very happy with the top five, and all of you are close to my heart. In first place we have my good friend @toivo which really really made me pleased to see. It is oddly fitting that you are the player who caught most of my touchdowns. Bona'beri Jones had a super underrated career and 31 touchdowns from me is awesome to see. Very awesome.
In second place and crazy to see that high, given that it feels like his prime really only started towards the end of my career and is still ongoing with Sloth as the quarterback now is @Nokazoa . McCormick caught 23 of my touchdowns and has been a monster all along. Congrats to this!
In third place, we have the other end of my career. Early on in my career I was fortunate enough to throw to hall of fame Vladimir Fyodorovich @majesiu - he was a legendary NOLA receiver and I am very happy that I was able to still play with you. I was actually surprised to see you caught that many touchdowns from me still. 21 is still a lot! I believe 10 of those came in one season alone.
In fourth place, we have the first "receiver" I actually drafted myself in Forrest Gump. @TomHanks is a running back but through that he also caught a lot of touchdowns from me. We played together a long long time and over that time it still accumulated apparently and you caught 19 of my touchdowns!
And in fifth place, we have another running back from the same Era! @bex was awesome to gain for the team and I am so happy to still have her on the same team. 13 touchdowns are nothing to scoff at. Definitely surprised to see you that high.
So there you have it. This took a while, so I probably won't do it for anyone else haha. But maybe I inspire other people to look at it. I will also likely keep a list for my newest player, Medicinal Toblerone and will update this at some point then.
I would love to see a post like this from someone else and to compare results I suppose! I also wonder which quarterback threw touchdowns to most different receivers.... maybe I will look into that for my next article. Stay tuned for that in the future!
