Hey guys, in looking at season 3 I wanted to go into what each teams cieling could be as Ultimus champions. So I'm gonna go through each team and see what NFL Super Bowl champion they would be like if they won the Ultimus. I'm gonna stick to teams and Super Bowls ive seen, so I'm going to only go with Super Bowl teams from this millennium. Let's start with the obvious comparison.
THE ARIZONA OUTLAWS WOULD BE THE 2004 NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS
This is an easy one. While King Bronko is good, he's early in his career and could turn out to have a dominant Tom Brady type career. The Outlaws have a good offense, but similar to those Patriots dynasty teams they are carried by their defense. Dominant players like Tuck carry this roster and have already won 2 titles. Much like the Pats in 2004 a win in S3 for the Outlaws would cement a dynasty. This wasn't really a difficult decision, every NFL wants to emulate the Patriots, every NSFL team wants to emulate the Outlaws.
THE YELLOWKNIFE WRAITHS WOULD BE THE 2009 NEW ORLEANS SAINTS
This was another easy one to me (though I could see the argument for the Colts as well). Chris Orosz is the best quarterback in the NSFL right now, and Yellowknifes offense is dominant. The only thing holding these Wraiths back is their defense. If their Defense can even be league average the Wraiths would have a good shot at the Ultimus. The Saints in 2009 didn't have a dominant one, but they were good enough to compete, and with Bree's and the offense that was enough. Maybe that would be enough in Yellowknife as well?
THE BALTIMORE HAWKS WOULD BE THE 2005 PITTSBURGH STEELERS
Much like the mid 2000 Steelers the Baltimore Hawks are lead by an absolutely terrifying front 7. The Steelers had a dominant front 7 and if the Hawks want to win the Ultimus it'll be thanks to their Defense. But the Hawks are not slouches on offense. They have a strong offensive line (much like those Steelers) and an awesome running back. In the passing game Ben Roethlisverger was a young QB with some consistency issues, but his highs were high. That's the same with Scrub Kyubee, who was awesome in some games and awful in others.
THE ORANGE COUNTY OTTERS WOULD BE THE 2013 SEATTLE SEAHAWKS
The Orange County Otters are one of the most balanced teams in the league, with a strong defense and a blanched offense the Otter would be the 2013 seahawks. The Otters were one of the best defenses in the NSFL and have a good QB with a strong running game. Yes the Seahawks didn't have a dominant wide out like the Otters do, but I still think this is the best comparison.
THE COLORADO YETI WOULD BE THE 2011 NEW YORK GIANTS
The Giants in 2011 were a team carried by a very talented QB with a penchant for under performing at times, and a dominant defense. To me that sounds just like the Colorado Yeti. Logan Noble is a really good quarterback who had a rough S2, but could certainly help lead the Yeti to a title. The defense in Colorado was the best in the conference, and if they win the title it'll be because of their D.
THE PHILADELPHIA LIBERTY WOULD BE THE 2002 TAMPA BAY BUCS
The Liberty have a QB that is basically a journeyman. There have been calls for Christ to be replaced, and he has some similarities to Brad Johnson. The strength of Philly is their secondary, and with the addition of a Pro Bowl Defensive tackle to Liberty could take a huge step forward on that side of the ball. The Bucs were a surprise Super Bowl team, and the Liberty would certainly surprise, but they have talent. With a D lead by Mark Ramiro and Lincoln Jefferson the Liberty could do it.
I'm sorry to say San Jose and Las Vegas really don't have much of a chance. The best comparison for then I guess would be the Rams? They came absolutely out of nowhere with a new star QB and Kurt Warner.
Anyway, let me know what you guys think as always!
